Webminal: practíca comandos de la consola en la red

Webminal es un proyecto web que permite aprender y practicar comandos del terminal de Linux en la red y sin poner en riesgo tu sistema por ello. Practica libremente con los comandos y conviertete en un buen usuario experimentado en estos lares desde ahora con este terminal en línea con solo un simple registro.

El terminal no debe ser un impedimento para que te pases a Linux y no hay porqué tenerle miedo como algunos usuarios más inexpertos. No obstante, ahora tienes esta opción que recuerda a algunas apps para Android que simulan el terminal de Linux para que puedas practicar comandos. Ahora no hace falta ni siquiera instalar nada, todo está en la nube con Webminal.

Al ser un servicio web puede funcionar con cualquier sistema operativo y con cualquier navegador web. Tan solo hay que destacar un pero, que aunque existe un plan gratuito con el que solo necesitas registrar tu correo electrónico y poner una contraseña para iniciar sesión, para los que quieran más ventajas tendrán que pagar un plan Flexi que cuesta unos 4$ mensuales.

Webminal permite elegir entre tres distribuciones Linux posibles para generar un entorno de trabajo y comenzar a trabajar con ellas de forma online. Las distros que podemos seleccionar son CentOS, Ubuntu y Fedora. Igualmente es posible practicar varios tipos de comandos Linux, tanto de Bash, como AWK, SED e incluso MySQL.

Para realizar nuestras prácticas disponemos de 1MB de espacio (con un límite de 1000 archivos) donde podremos ir almacenando los ficheros y directorios derivados de nuestros ejercicios. Espacio que aunque parezca poco es más que suficiente para practicar. Además se podrán crear grupos para compartir nuestros proyectos y colaborar.

El chip Snapdragon 815 no tiene los problemas de temperatura del Snapdragon 810

Con toda la problemática surgida con el chip Snapdragon 810 de Qualcomm y su excesiva temperatura en ciertos terminales, hoy podemos conocer como el nuevo Snapdragon 815 los evita totalmente al disponerse como una CPU que incluso será más fría que el anterior Snapdragon 801.

El nuevo HTC One M9 consiguió que volviera a la palestra lo acontecido con la temperatura excesiva del Snapdragon 810 cuando se le pasó por un benchmark de esos que ponen bien a prueba su potencial. Los otros teléfonos que pasaron la misma prueba no llegan a las temperaturas tan altas como son el HTC One M8 y el Galaxy Note 4 de Samsung. Hay que mencionar como la propia HTC lanzó una actualización al software para bajar la temperatura de la unidad a las normales que obtuvieron los dos mencionados dispositivos.

Un Snapdragon 815 más frío

La misma Qualcomm ha realizado una prueba interna para probar la capacidad del Snapdragon 815 en comparación al Snapdragon 810 y Snapdragon 810. Los chips se colocaron en tres distintos dispositivos sin radio, una pantalla de 5 pulgadas con resolución de 1080 x 1920 y 3GB de RAM.

El videojuego probado para poner a prueba estas 3 CPUs fue Asphalt 8, y a diferencia de otras pruebas que optaron por ajustes gráficos medios, esta vez los subieron a altos. El nuevo Snapdragon, y que todavía no ha salido al mercado, llegó hasta los 38 grados, mientras que el Snapdragon 801 a los 42 grados y el que obtuvo mayor temperatura fue de nuevo el Snapdragon 810 con 44 grados.

Así que los teléfonos que tengan en su interior el nuevo Snapdragon 8150 no tendrán que preocuparse por temperaturas altas del procesador, algo que tuviera que ser así siempre. Hay que saber que una excesiva temperatura conlleva una vida de batería más corta a la vez que la propia del teléfono, aparte de que es bastante molesto tener un dispositivo en el cual se podría casi hasta freír un huevo frito.

Ahora queda saber cuándo empezará a llegar este chip a nuevos dispositivos, ya que de momento no se tiene ningún tipo de información. Habrá que preguntarse si realmente uno quiere tener un terminal con el chip “capado” por software para que no llegue a esas temperaturas como parece haber pasado con el nuevo HTC One M9.

Lollipop update for Sony Xperia T2 Ultra gets certifiaction

A tweet from @SonyXperia broke many hearts when it claimed that only Sony's premium Xperia Z line will get updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. A Bluetooth certification labeled "Tianchi Update to L" shows this might not actually be the case.

"Tianchi" was the codename for the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and "L" should be pretty easy to guess – until Google reveal the official treat, Android 5.0 was known just as "L."

The certification itself was granted on March 11 and the results listed a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, this is where the duties of the Bluetooth SIG end, there's no indication when the update may be released. This is subject to making sure the software works and collaborating with carriers to push out the update.

The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra launched on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean then got updated to 4.4.2 KitKat (and 4.4.3 after that).

Sailfish OS alpha is out for the OnePlus One

Jolla outed an alpha version of Sailfish OS for the OnePlus One. Sailfish OS was spotted running on the phone in the beginning of the month, but now you can run it as well.

Since this is an alpha, some crucial functionality is missing such as Wi-Fi connectivity and the camera app isn't operational. Additionally, support for Android App installs isn't available as well as OTA updates.

Huawei P8 dimensions revealed in factory schematic

The Huawei P8 should be unveiled on April 15, but details about the new flagship are continuing to trickle in. The latest are alleged photos from the factory that is working on the P8 and show a book of schematics with the exact measurements of the handset.

The Huawei Ascend P6, P8's granddad, was well-known for being super thin – 6.2mm in 2013. Its successor went up to 6.5mm last year and the new model is set to be 6.6mm thick according to these drawings. The exact dimensions are 144.9 x 71.9 x 6.6mm, compared to the 138.8 x 68.8 x 6.5mm of the Ascend P7.

The Huawei P8 will have a bigger screen than its predecessor – 5.2" vs. 5" – accounting for the taller and wider device. Current rumored info points to a 2,600mAh battery, a small upgrade from the previous 2,500mAh battery, too.

There are a number of changes on the back, including dual-LED flash for the single 13MP camera (no dual-camera like some early rumors suggested). Below that is a wide rectangle whose purpose is unknown but could be a fingerprint scanner like on the Ascend Mate7.

The loudspeaker has moved from its traditional place on the back and is now on the bottom. There are two strings of holes on the bottom, it's not clear if there's a speaker behind each or if one is just decorative.

The Huawei P8 should keep the screen resolution at 1080p (Huawei's CEO thinks QHD on phones is just a waste of battery). The phone will be powered by the new in-house Kirin 930 chipset (also found on the MediaPad X2 tablet) and will be paired with 3GB of RAM.
