Google posted Android 5.1.1 Lollipop factory images for LG Nexus 4, LG Nexus 5, and the LTE variant of HTC Nexus 9. The latter is also getting the new firmware over-the-air.

As its version number suggests, Android 5.1.1 fixes some of the minor niggles in Android 5.1. It contains mostly under the hood performance and stability improvements.

For those who aren't in the know, OTAs are usually meant for everyone, while factory images are targeted at Android developers and enthusiasts as they to be applied manually.

The OnePlus 2 is due to arrive to eager fans sometime during the third quarter of this year, according to the company's CEO.

Before the official unveiling happens, though, it seems like a prototype of the device got put through the paces of Geekbench today. If this is indeed the OnePlus 2, then it's the first we've seen of it in benchmarks.

Although Geekbench lists its name as OnePlus One, the model number is different. The actual OnePlus One has the model name A0001, while this one is A2001. Furthermore, the MSM8994 board listed corresponds to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset, which has been rumored to be inside the OnePlus 2. The OnePlus One, on the other hand, is powered by the Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974).

The processor inside the Snapdragon 810 definitely goes further than 1.55 GHz, so clearly this benchmark was performed with a cap at that speed. Geekbench correctly lists eight cores for the CPU.

The only other thing we learn about the OnePlus 2 from this is that it will have 3GB of RAM just like its predecessor. That may perhaps be disappointing to people who expected it to take advantage of the fact that the Snapdragon 810 is a 64-bit chipset and boast 4GB of memory.

The OnePlus 2 prototype currently runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. That said, the finished product will almost certainly not ship running Cyanogen OS like its predecessor. In its place we're bound to find OnePlus' own Oxygen OS, also based on Android of course.

The next OnePlus flagship could cost around $400. A more affordable handset is also in the pipeline, and should get a release by the end of this year.

Motorola hasn't yet been able to roll out a Lollipop update for the Droid Turbo model it's made exclusively for Verizon. Thankfully though, we've heard that the handset will be taken straight to Android 5.1 Lollipop, so you won't see an intermediary 5.0 update.

If you own a Droid Turbo you may be wondering when to expect Lollipop to finally arrive for your device. According to a Verizon test engineer, that will happen sometime in mid-June.

The aforementioned individual is already running a pre-release Android 5.1 version of the software for the Droid Turbo, as evidenced by the image you can see to the left.

He also says the delay in getting the update to this smartphone has most to do with Verizon's nationwide HD voice feature, Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), as well as its use of band 4 LTE. To work properly with the new software, all of these need to be tested extensively. Apparently the handover between Big Red's 3G and 4G networks is especially tricky to sort out, with even Qualcomm getting involved by outing certain patches for its components.

On the other hand, Motorola itself doesn't have as many people working on updates, or comparable budgets for this endeavor as bigger smartphone makers such as Samsung or Apple.

From the same source comes some information about a future Motorola handset, which could be the next Moto X. This is said to come with a front-facing LED flash for selfies, and a microSD card slot. These features should arrive during the summer, which incidentally is also when Motorola is expected to unveil its next flagship.

Sony has begun seeding the Android Lollipop updates for the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZR. The new firmwares are currently available only over the air, but we expect those to pop up soon at Sony PC Companion as well.

The updates are about 700MB big and sweeten the Xperia Z and ZR with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS among other improvements such as:

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop
Google Material design across the UI and compatible apps
Intelligent lock screen notifications and customizable settings
Support for multi-user profiles and guest mode
Move apps to SD card option

In order to install the update you'll need at least 1.2GB of free space (we'd recommend 2GB before the OTA download), and you may want to back up some important data in case of failure.

Various user reports suggest the update is now live in Bolivia, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Hong Kong, among others. We guess more markets will be joining those very soon.

Samsung's CEO J.K. Shin denied the recent rumors regarding the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5. Earlier some reports suggested the Galaxy S6 is doing underwhelming on the market. The rumors continued that the low sales may lead to early release of the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 this July and thus beating the Apple iPhone 6S Plus. The latter was lined with another rumor for Samsung showcasing Note 5 prototypes to its partners.

Today, Samsung's CEO denied those rumors officially. He said the Galaxy S6 is doing great on the market, its sales have recently surpassed the 10 million units milestone. As far as the Galaxy Note 5 is concerned J.K. Shin denied Samsung sending prototypes to partners in order to prep them for an early release. It seems Samsung won't be changing its September cycle.

So, Samsung seems to be happy with its Galaxies performance and won't be doing things differently this year, at least for now. A recent report suggested Samsung may be introducing another curved screen device this summer, which won't be an S6 or Note 5. Maybe Samsung still want be ready for Apple's announcement like it did with the Galaxy Alpha. Or maybe that's just more speculations – we'll find out soon.
