iPad Pro UK pricing revealed, will start at £679

The iPad Pro will become available to order this Wednesday in many countries, among which will be the UK. That’s no surprise, what is quite surprising in fact is the price it’s going to have over there.

Believe it or not, so far Apple hasn’t said anything about pricing for the iPad Pro outside of the US. Stateside, the tablet starts at $799 for the 32GB Wi-Fi-only model.

That same SKU will be sold for £679 in the UK. At the current exchange rates, that’s a whopping $1,026 or €954. And that’s only the cheapest variation. If you want the 128GB tablet with 4G LTE connectivity, you’ll need to shell out £899, which is $1,358 or €1,263. In between sits the 128GB Wi-Fi-only version, which goes for $949 in the US, and will cost £799 in the UK (that’s $1,207 or €1,122).

Given what’s recently happened in the mobile world, we expect Eurozone prices to be very close to those seen in the UK, but obviously rounded up or down to nicer-looking numbers – for example, the base variant could go for €949.

Moving on to UK prices for the tablet’s accessories, the Apple Pencil stylus will set you back £79 ($119, €111), while the Smart Keyboard will cost £139 ($210,…

Windows 10 Mobile update schedule for older Lumias leaks

Windows 10 Mobile is going to make its debut powering the Microsoft Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, and Lumia 550, when those devices become available this month or next. That said, many people are anxiously waiting for the latest version of Windows for smartphones to also make its way to older Lumia-branded handsets now on Windows Phone 8.1.

Before today we got a hint that updates for such devices would start sometime in December, but now we get an actual timeline to speak of too. The following information reportedly comes from Orange Poland, with the carrier having revealed two different waves of updates.

The first one will go out starting on December 14. This wave includes the Lumia 630, 635, 640, 735, and 830. Unfortunately the second wave will come much later, starting on February 1, 2016. This will bring Windows 10 to the Lumia 520, 532, 625, 720, 820, 920, 925, 930, 1020, and 1320.

Oddly enough, there’s no word on the Lumia 1520, but apparently that’s because this model was only ever sold in Poland unlocked (so this carrier has no involvement in the update process).

Of course, this timeline, even if real, and even if it won’t change, only applies to the smartphones sold by Orange in Poland. But hopefully other carriers across the world will start their update rollouts at around the same time.

Microsoft outs new Surface Pro 4 ad

Today Microsoft has made a new ad for the Surface Pro 4 public. The 30-second clip quickly goes through a few highlights of the company’s newest tablet.

The big, 12.3-inch touchscreen is mentioned, as are its 5 million pixels. The new Surface Pen stars in the video too, and the tablet’s speakers are said to be 40% louder.

The tagline still is “the tablet that can replace your laptop”, as Microsoft ends by presenting the Surface Pro 4 with its keyboard and stylus. There are three more, shorter, 15-second clips available on Microsoft’s Surface YouTube channel for the die-hard fans to view.

The Surface Pro 4 runs Windows 10, and you can get it with a sixth-generation Intel processor and up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It starts at $899, but depending on which innards you choose can go up to…

TAG Heuer launches Connected, world’s first Android Wear-powered luxury watch

As scheduled, Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer launched its first smartwatch at a dedicated event in New York today. Dubbed Connected, the $1,500 Android Wear-powered intelligent timepiece is inspired by the TAG Heuer Carrera, and has been developed in collaboration with Google and Intel.

Specs-wise, the watch is powered by a 1.6GHz dual core processor from Intel, and sports a 1.5-inch fully circular transflective LTPS LCD display (covered by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal) with a 360 x 360 resolution and pixel density of 240ppi. It comes with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal memory, and packs in a 410mAh battery.

In terms of sensors, it includes gyroscope, tilt detection sensor, microphone, and there’s also a haptic engine. The connectivity options include Bluetooth BLE 4.1 and Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz 802.11 B/G/N).

Weighing in at 52gms, the watch is 46mm wide and 12.8mm thick, and is compatible with Android 4.3+ / iOS 8.2+. It is equipped with directional wind and weather monitoring, and also offers IP67 water and dust resistance.

“The TAG Heuer Connected includes a beautiful set of digital watch faces with classic TAG Heuer dials,” said David Singleton, VP of Engineering, Android Wear, in a blog post. “You’ll be able to personalize what information you want to see: weather, step count, or calories.”

Another thing worth mentioning here is that after two years you’ll be able to pay an extra $1,500 and trade-in your Connected smartwatch for a more traditional Carrera watch, which carries a price tag of around $3,000.

As for availability, only the black band bracelet option is available for online purchase, while all other band color options are available in store. And as already revealed, the Connected will land in Europe on November 12.

Samsung SM-R150 is an upcoming cheap activity tracker, rumor says

Samsung’s already launched quite a few wearables, but none of its offerings in this space have been especially affordable. And while perhaps that’s pretty much a given for a smartwatch, when it comes to activity trackers such as the Gear Fit there’s clearly room for more affordable options.

And that’s exactly what Samsung is working on, according to a new rumor on the matter. The Korean company’s upcoming affordable fitness tracker bears the model number SM-R150, and it’s been codenamed Triathlon internally.

Apparently the R150 might turn out to be a competitor to Xiaomi’s recently unveiled Mi Band 1S, at least when it comes to specs – save for the possible omission of the heart rate monitor. It’s still unclear how much Samsung’s new wearable will cost, though we doubt it will match the Mi Band’s $15…

iPad Pro plated with gold, platinum, or rose gold now available for order

As you may have learned, Apple is planning on finally releasing its biggest tablet ever this Wednesday, on November 11 to be precise. That’s when you’ll find the iPad Pro on sale in more than 40 countries, starting at $799.

But what if the ordinary color versions used by Apple simply don’t satisfy you? What if you can’t buy a tablet that isn’t gold-plated? Well, thankfully, Goldgenie is here for your needs.

The metal-plating experts have already started taking orders for three different iPad Pro versions. One is gold-plated as you’d expect, another uses platinum, and the third goes for “rose gold” (pictured above).

Gold is the cheapest material. For a gold-plated 128GB iPad Pro you have to pay £1,855. The rose gold option costs £1,913.34, while the platinum tablet will set you back £1,970.84. In all cases the storage space is the same, and you can choose either a white or a black front. All of these iPads have 4G LTE connectivity built-in. To pre-order you need to put down a 50% deposit. You get free worldwide shipping on any order.

Obviously, the internals are left unchanged by the plating process, so these iPads still have a 12.9-inch 2,048×2,732 touchscreen, Apple’s A9X chipset, 4GB of RAM, an 8 MP main camera, a 1.2 MP front-facing camera, and support for the Apple Pencil stylus.

Yet another Huawei Kirin 950 benchmark surfaces, this time inside the Mate 8

The Kirin 950 and Huawei Mate 8 duo are really generating a storm of attention and things are getting out of hand with all the leaks and speculations flying around. Here’s the simple breakdown thus far – the HiSilicon Kirin 950 is officially out since November 3 and it is every bit as impressive as rumors made it out to be. The custom silicon was unveiled with more than just a specs rundown, there was also an impressive demonstration of power on stage with a result of almost 83 000 points on AnTuTu.

That is quite a feat, but the score did come courtesy of a test rig, rather than an actual phone and left the real question unanswered, namely – how well will the Kirin 950 actually perform in an end user device. Well, by all accounts, the first ambassador will be the eagerly-anticipated Huawei Mate 8 and a new AnTuTu leak claims to show it is surprisingly even more powerful than Huawei’s test rig. Now, we definitely can’t vouch for any authenticity in the screenshot in question, but it does clearly suggest the Mate 8 is capable of scores up to 89.630 points. That is a crazy amount of power that easily surpasses Samsung’s current golden performer – the Exynos 7420, as was already suggested by an earlier GeekBench leak.

All things considered, the Huawei Mate 8 is shaping up as one powerhouse of a phone and the rest of its alleged specs sheet, doesn’t disappoint either. As per previous leaks, it should feature a 6.0 inch 1440p display, although Huawei has spoken against the battery-draining QHD resolution in the past, so 1080p is also an option. Also 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal memory options, a 13MP rear unit (or perhaps a 20.7MP one – we can’t really be sure) and an 8MP front shooter as well as dual-SIM support and a microSD card slot.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer to finally see the Huawei Mate 8 in the flesh, as it should be arriving on November 26. The high-end device is said to carry a CNY 3,299 ($520) price tag for the 3GB RAM variant and CNY 3,899 ($610) for the 4GB…

Want a retro paintjob for your iPhone 6s? That would be twice as much

Apple is the king of popularity today, the most influential brand on the market. But some have been following the iconic company since the Apple II and Macintosh days. Unlike the newcomers brought in by the iPod and iPhone, those old fans may be nostalgic for the old rainbow logo.

Colorware could put that retro look on the modern iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The prices are scary though, essentially double what you pay for unpainted device.

Samsung Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 (2016 Edition) leak in photos

Photos of the 2016 Edition Samsung Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 leaked. The two smartphones are feature a slight redesign to mimic their more premium siblings – the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6.

Samsung has kept the metal frame design and has equipped the phones with glass backs – presumably Gorilla Glass. Judging from the photos, we assume the screen size will remain unchanged – 4.5″ for the Galaxy A3 and 5.0″ for the Galaxy A5

Leaked Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016 Edition) and Galaxy A5 (2016 Edition) photos, courtesy of @sleaknow.

There aren’t any leaks regarding specifications, yet. Judging from the naming, the Galaxy A3 (2016 Edition) and Galaxy A5 (2016 Edition) should launch by the end of this year. At least that was Samsung’s strategy for the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2015 Edition).
