Google fixed Android 5.1 memory leak, no timeline for update

Google’s Android team is constantly working on tweaking the OS. When Android 5.0.1 Lollipop was initially seeded out to devices, many users jumped with joy. However, few could notice some issues.

The search giant's Android Open Source Code issue tracker forums heated with memory leak reports from the early Lollipop builds. Basically, devices with Android 5.1 on board would experience app crashes, launcher issues, and overall poor experience.

The reason for the above niggles was a memory leak happening in the background. The Android team has quietly fixed the issue internally, though Google remains uncertain about the potential time when the patch will be released to the public.

Dixons Carphone CEO doubts Apple Watch success

Nearly a week after Apple revealed the pricing of its highly anticipated Apple Watch, the head of one of the Europe's leading specialist electrical and telecommunications retailer Dixons Carphone has said that he is sceptical of the success of the smartwatch, which starts at $349.

“If you spend 300 pounds on a TAG Heuer then you’ve got that for life,” said CEO Sebastian James. “But if you buy a smartwatch, in two or three years time you will want a new one because the technology has moved on.”

Although Apple hasn't yet revealed when the wearable will be made available to other retailers, James said he suspects they will have the device in stock for the holiday shopping season. He also claimed that the London-based company currently sells more Apple products than any other retailer in…

The Top 10 trending phones of week 11

This year's high-end offering from Samsung, the Galaxy S6 is firmly on top of our weekly interest chart, garnering more than twice the number of hits of the second-placed Galaxy A7. The top-of-the-line A-series model, on the other hand, shot straight to number 2 upon its debut to the chart. Little brother Galaxy A5 completes the Top 3.

The Top 10 trending phones chart is a recap list of the devices that gathered the most hits throughout the week. In other words, the chart represents the interests of the majority of you, our visitors, and is an indication of what currently interests you.

Surprisingly, the HTC One M9 is falling down the chart and found itself in 5th this week. The Galaxy S6 edge, the winner's hotter-looking sibling, also doesn't fare too well and has dropped to a lowly 9th spot, whopping 7 places down from last week.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 6 has found a somewhat steady position in the second half of the chart, and the Asus Zenfone 5 has managed to climb in the top 10 amidst some extra price cutting that it recently received.

Week 11 in review: Android Updates and Apple Watch

Another week passed and the MWC hype is slowly settling down. Everybody is still talking about the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9, but the news hasn’t been so completely overwhelmed and a lot of attention has been directed to other topics, like the ongoing Lollipop updates.

Android 5.1 was made official and builds are already available for a few Nexus devices. The new version brings a lot of goodies and addresses old irritations users had with earlier Lollipop builds. Meanwhile the industry is still busy, working on the Lollipop update for various smartphones.

Apple also made headlines with its "Spring forward" event, held on March 9. The rather pricy Apple watch was unveiled at the venue, as well as a new MacBook, thinner and lighter than ever and now in GOLD! The Xperia Z4 is still expected and as it turns out, so is an active version of the Galaxy S6, the LG G4 and not one, but two new HTC handsets – the HTC E9 and the One M9 Plus.
