Google has started seeding out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to but many are still concerned with the reported memory leak issue that hasn't been fixed with it.

The good news is Android SDK manager pushes the new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update as part of the SDK package. For now it nests under the development platform and also ensures a quick release to the devices running Android 5.1 for now.

Enthusiasts should be banking on this version to get the memory leak issue that drains battery and deteriorates performance fixed….

LG took the wraps off a new-generation 5.5″ QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) IPS LCD display with 538 ppi and 120% color gamut. The hot new component will appear in the upcoming LG G4 later this month, on April 28.

The Korean giant’s new display panel utilizes advance in-cell touch technology developed by LG Display. The tech delivers high touch sensitivity and can even respond to touch commands with water drops.

A photo-alignment technology used in the display utilizes UV light to achieve higher contrast ratio. The latter is achieved by aligning the liquid crystals to reduce leakage.

Furthermore, the contrast ratio of the new panel is 50% higher than that of conventional QHD LCD panels. Brightness on the other hand, has been increased by 30%….

Yesterday, Microsoft sent out invites to members of media in India for the launch of Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL . The invite carries the following punchline: "Inspiration doesn't only work 9 to 5."

Microsoft Lumia 640 features a 5" IPS ClearBlack display, Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, 8MP rear snapper with LED flash, 1MP front-facing camera, and 2,500 mAh battery.

The Lumia 640 XL has a 5.7" IPS ClearBlack display packing the same hardware as the Lumia 640 albeit with a Carl Zeiss optics powered 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.

Microsoft will certainly introduce dual-SIM variants of both Lumia phones. In India, the Lumia 640 is rumored to be priced at INR 9,999 ($161), while the Lumia XL will be priced at INR13,999…

Live photos of the upcoming successor of Oppo R1 made the rounds online. The previously leaked smartphone is expected to debut at some point in the near future as Oppo R7.

The unannounced Oppo handset features double-sided 2.5D glass. The solution makes the smartphone quite a looker and improves its handling and ergonomics.

The HTC Desire 826 (which we handled at CES) got official at the beginning of the year, and now it's almost ready to be up for grabs in India. So far, it's been out in China.

According to one Mumbai-based phone dealer, the Desire 826 will land in India in the next 2-3 days. It will go on sale priced at INR 26,200, which at the current exchange rates means about $421 or €387.

The handset boasts a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 4 MP UltraPixel front-facing snapper, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD expansion, dual-SIM support, and a 2,600 mAh battery.

It's powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 chipset, which has an octa-core CPU, with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz and another four only going up to 1 GHz. The Desire 826 runs Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.

Samsung is continuing its Lollipop update rollouts. The latest device made by the Korean company to get the new Android version is the Galaxy S5 Sport for Sprint.

This model has been exclusive to this particular carrier, and it's somewhere in between the original Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S5 Active in terms of ruggedness. Since both the S5 and the S5 Active have already been treated to the Lollipop update, it's only natural that the S5 Sport follows.

Sprint has published its official update notice today, which means the rollout is about to start (if it hasn't done so already). As always though keep in mind that it might take a few days until your device notifies you about the new software, since these releases are generally staged.

After applying the update, you'll be on software version G860PVPU1BOC5. Aside from everything that Lollipop itself entails, this release also contains the Reactivation Lock feature, which requires entering a security code when trying to factory reset the phone.

If you own an original Moto X, Moto E, or Moto G 4G you're probably wondering where your Lollipop update is. You've seen newer Motorola handsets blessed with Android 5.0 many weeks ago, and are getting rather impatient? Well, then this is for you.

There's some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that you'll still have to wait a while until your particular device runs Lollipop. However, the good news is that Motorola has decided to skip the Android 5.0 release entirely, and update the Moto X, Moto E, and Moto G 4G with Android 5.1 directly.

So when the update does land, you'll be on the absolute latest iteration of Google's mobile operating system. This is all according to David Schuster, Motorola's senior director of software product management. So it's as official as can be.

Interestingly, the company has applied the same strategy for the Lollipop update for the Droid Turbo. That phone will skip Android 5.0 too, jumping straight to Android 5.1.

Unfortunately at this point no rollout timeline has been announced for any of these smartphones, we just know that updates are in the testing phase. Hopefully that won't take much longer and these handsets will finally get to taste Lollipop.

Yet the talk of a plus version of the One M9 and One E9 is perhaps the most exciting rumor yet. A few hours ago we reported on some allegedly leaked banners of the yet unknown HTC One M9 Plus. The most shocking part was, of course, that the phone features a physical home button, perhaps even with a fingerprint reader.

Now, a new set of images, renders to be precise, courtesy of upleaks, seem to back-up the new design hypothesis. They portray a device that looks quite similar to the One M9, but with two quite noticeable difference. The first is the aforementioned button, which might replace HTC's traditional on-screen navigation scheme, or, at least, supplement it. And the other obvious change is the huge round main camera on the back, clearly different from the square sensor on the One M9.

The renders seem to show both a dual-tone silver version of the mystery device, as well as an all-gold one. Both have the China mobile logo printed on the backs, so perhaps that is where the renders originally leaked from.

Apple debuted Force Touch the Apple Watch, a technology that can tell apart light taps and deep presses dubbed "force click." The new MacBook 12" has it on its trackpad. And the rumor is that the next generation iPhone 6s Plus will adopt it too.

Force clicks are a quicker way to access certain functions and are adopted in OS X Yosemite. The Wall Street Journal wrote about Force Touch on the incoming iPhones in early March, but back then it was believed that both models will get it.

The latest rumors claim that only the Apple phablet will get the required hardware. It's said that it costs 2.5 as much as the one on the Apple Watch (from $4-$5 to $13-$14), presumably because of the larger size. While that's pricy as far as components go, but it shouldn’t be out of reach even for the small iPhone. Still, the Plus model gets extra features to earn its premium position.

The Asus Zenfone 2 range was officially launched in China less than a fortnight ago, Europe followed closely, and the Indian market is scheduled for an April 13 release. With such global expansion and given the high popularity of the range it comes as no surprise that the company is now aiming at a whopping 30 million units sold throughout 2015.

The ambitious figure was revealed by Asustek chairman Jonney Shih himself in Chinese media. The Chinese market is key in reaching the company's goal, with 10 million projected smartphone sales there alone. It's however only a small chip of a market so vast – China witnessed the shipment of 389 million smartphones last year.

The company had more modest expectations in February when a 17M target was quoted, which then climbed to 25M towards the smartphones' launch in Taiwan in the beginning of March. That said, you should be impressed to learn that in the entire first quarter of 2014 Asus sold a grand total of 10,000 smartphones. The number exploded to 1.5 million in Q4 though, so the 30 million mark may not be that elusive.
