Iron Man-themed Galaxy S6 Edge launching next week

Samsung has announced that the Iron Man-themed version of the Galaxy S6 Edge will be launched next week.

The announcement was made by the South Korean company in a Facebook post that included a photo offering a glimpse of the handset (see image above) along with a COMING NEXT WEEK tag. There are, however, no details on how much the device will cost and when it would be available.

The news comes to confirm earlier reports that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Iron Man editions are coming as early as this month.

Microsoft and Xiaomi eyeing Blackberry acquisition, report says

Nearly a couple of months after Blackberry surprised the market with a small profit for the fiscal fourth quarter, there are new reports that it is being eyed as an acquisition target.

According to a report from DigiTimes, several companies including Microsoft, Xiaomi, Huawei, and Lenovo are interested in taking over the Canadian company. The Redmond-based software giant is said to be the frontrunner as the company has even requested investment firms to evaluate the possibility of an acquisition deal.

While Microsoft's interest in BlackBerry stems from the fact that the latter's focus on software services is in line with its own offerings, Chinese companies looking for a possible deal are aiming to strengthen their presence in the US and Europe, the report notes. Google reportedly working on new Android for Internet of Things

Google is currently working on a version of Android specifically aimed at the Internet of Things (IoT), according to a report from The Information.

Dubbed Brillo, the OS will be capable of running on devices with is little as 32MB of RAM, for example sensors and dongles. It's worth mentioning that the current threshold for the Google's mobile operating system is 512MB.

The report also notes that in its current form Brillo is only targeting connected home devices, a subset of IoT. However, it isn't yet clear how the new project will fit within the framework of Nest (Google's home automation business). The software could be made official at the company's I/O developer conference in San Francisco next week.

Analyst says Apple could sell 36 million Watch units in first year

The sales of Apple Watch could reach the 36 million mark in the first year of its availability, according to Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty. It's worth mentioning that Huberty had earlier said that Apple would sell 30 million units of the smartwatch in the first 12 months.

The new figure from Huberty is based on polling, where-in only those who said that they will definitely buy the wearable were taken into account. The prediction also makes an assumption that around half of the buyers will be in the US.

"US Apple Watch demand increased around 60 percent since March," she said. "Importantly, Apple enjoyed the biggest increase in Watch purchase intentions post making the product available in mid-April. While the survey data extrapolates to 50 million annual Watch demand, we see this as a bull case given supply limitations."

ZTE Nubia Z9 goes out of stock in just 10 minutes

The Nubia Z9, which was made official by ZTE earlier this month and is only available in China, was sold out in just 10 minutes, according to a GizmoChina report. The device went on sale in the country yesterday.

The handset is available in three versions – Classic, Elite, and Exclusive – which are priced at CNY3,499 ($565), CNY3,999 ($645), and CNY4,499 ($726), respectively. It's worth mentioning that the Classic and Elite variants are also up for international pre-orders from online retailer OppoMart.
