Motorola offering ATRIX HD owners $100 off Moto X as apology

Back in November 2013, Motorola announced plans to bring Android 4.4 KitKat to its ATRIX HD smartphone, but the update never came. Now, the company has announced that it will not be upgrading the handset to KitKat, and will be compensating for it by offering ATRIX HD owners special pricing on second-generation Moto X (Pure Edition).

As per the offer, the owners of the Atrix HD smartphone can grab a Moto X Pure Edition device starting at $299.99. In addition, the company is also offering them a Motorola Whisper Bluetooth headset for $49.99, usually priced at $149.99.

Galaxy Note 4 beats iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in customer satisfaction in US

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has topped the charts in customer satisfaction, leaving behind the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, according to a latest survey conducted by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).

The Note 4 – which was released back in October last year – scored a total of 86 points out of 100, while Apple's latest flagships came in at number two with 82 points each. The Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S5 also tied for the second spot.

It's worth mentioning that the Samsung's latest flagship, the Galaxy S6, wasn't commercially available at the time of the survey, so it wasn't included.

As for smartphone manufacturers, both Apple and Samsung tied for the first spot with 80 points each. Motorola, BlackBerry, and HTC rounded up the top five with 79, 78, and 77 points, respectively.

Gresso releases Android-powered Regal Gold luxury phone

Well known luxury smartphone maker Gresso has added a new device to its Regal series. It's called Gresso Regal Gold, and, like most of this company's offerings, it's going to be a limited edition.

Only 999 units will be made, each one coming with an 18K yellow gold insert onto which that phone's individual number will be engraved. You can choose which number you want, by the way.

The Regal Gold is styled to look like a bar of gold, so that it never looks outdated. The case is made from golden PVD-coated titanium, a technique often used by Swiss luxury watchmakers because it increases resistance to scratches.

The case is actually produced from a grade 5 solid titanium plate, which is widely used in the aerospace industry. The machining and milling process takes 8 hours to create each 8.8mm thin Gresso Regal Gold.

Its back panel comes with directional polishing, which takes an additional 3 hours to manually perform. Each handset is made by a single craftsman.

Of course, the Regal Gold is also a smartphone. It runs Android, though it's unclear which exact version. It boasts a 5-inch 1080p touchscreen with Gorilla Glass, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 5 MP selfie snapper, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.

It's powered by an unnamed 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, has 3G support but no 4G, and should last for a maximum of 6 hours talk time and 300 hours standby time.

If you're interested in picking one up, Gresso will gladly help you out, so long as you agree to part with no less than $6,000 in return. Oh, and at this price you even get free worldwide…

Lumia 735 launches at Verizon on June 11, leak reveals

It's been so long since the Nokia Lumia 735 was first supposed to arrive at Verizon, that in the meantime the handset even changed its name. Despite being called Nokia Lumia 735 internationally, Verizon will launch it as the Microsoft Lumia 735.

Big Red's model was spotted at the FCC back in November of last year, but it still can't be bought from the carrier. According to a new leak, though, that will change pretty soon.

The image you see above is purported to be showing an internal Verizon system for employees. And if that's true, then it means the midrange Windows Phone will finally become available at this carrier on June 11, which is next Thursday.

Verizon has released the LG Lancet with Windows Phone so far, and now it looks like it will be joined by the Lumia 735 in the carrier's roster – at long last, that is.

Verizon's Lumia 735 will have 4G LTE support, of course, and it may even ship running Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2. There's still no word on pricing, but if it does land next week we're bound to find something out…

LG starts unlocking its bootloaders, G4 goes first

LG has announced that it will be providing official bootloader unlock tools for some of its handsets. Such actions are definitely not unheard of, but, it is always a nice touch when a manufacturer shows such love for third party developers.

An open bootloader allows a lot more access to a devices hardware and, consequently, fuels things like custom ROM development, kernel mods and various other low-level modifications. Actually, such tools were promised by LG as early as last year, for the LG G3. However, it is the EU version (H815) of the latest G4 to get a bootloader unlock first.

The tool can be download from the official LG developer's portal, linked in the source. The company has also promised that support for more models is on the way. As far as older models go, the modding scene has already taken care of that in most cases, but even then, an official tool is always better, not to mention less brick-prone.

Also, if you intend to unlock your bootloader and play around, be warned that any such action voids the warranty.
