Mere hours ago we got word that the update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop was already rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S6 units in France. This follows the world premiere of this Android version's rollout for Samsung handsets, which happened last week on T-Mobile.

And now the Galaxy S6 edge is getting Android 5.1.1 in Europe too. In this case, for now it's only being distributed to handsets which were sold in the UK and Ireland. That said, undoubtedly it will spread to more places in a few weeks at most.

The update is for the SM-G925F model of the S6 edge, better known as the international variation. After applying it, you'll be running software version G925FXXU2BOFJ.

It looks like an over-the-air rollout hasn't commenced yet, but you can get the update by using Kies, Samsung's desktop PC companion…

YU and Cyanogen have started rolling out the first major software update for the Yuphoria. The update will be available for download soon OTA on your device.

Google might have spearheaded the initiative to reach "the next billion people" with its ambitious Android One program, but other major players also have their sights on the quickly expanding Indian market. The Korean company is now hopeful that it might double its current 4-5% market share in the country this year.

To quote the local head of LG's mobile division, Deepak Jasrotia, himself:

Our target is to double the market share in the mobile phone segment to 10 percent from the current four to five percent,

The LG G4 recently launched on the local market and will surely play a big role in this market expansion. LG expects to sell over 100,000 units of the flagship in India, by the end of the year. The phone, however, isn't exactly cheap, with a price tag of INR 51,000 (about $800), which, puts it right between the Galaxy S6 and the S6 edge. LG also offer devices for as little as INR 10,000 (around $160), which is pretty close to what an Android One phone goes for and targeting the budget segment in developing market really seems to be the way to go.

Deepak also mentioned that the company does already have two manufacturing plants in India, but also added that: "LG does not manufacture mobile devices here". This, however, might quickly change if the pivotal 10% share is achieved and the company discovers a need for catering to the market needs with localized products.

The cited numbers are quite ambitious indeed, but, due to the dynamic nature on the growing India market, they might not be out of reach for LG. What are your thought on the bold and ambitious predictions?

Samsung is expecting to ship around 45 million units of its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge flagship smartphones in this year alone, according to a recent report from Deutsche Bank.

That's broadly in-line with various earlier reports – a CitiBank analyst had in April predicted that the number might exceed 50 million, an estimate that was recently corroborated by research firm Counterpoint. A Samsung executive also recently revealed that the devices are hitting the South Korean company's internal targets.

A total of over 72 million wearable devices will be shipped in 2015, an increase of a whopping 173.3% when compared to the 26.4 million units shipped last year, according to a latest report from market research firm IDC.

"The demand for basic wearables, those that do not run third party apps, has been absolutely astounding," said Jitesh Ubrani, senior research analyst, Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers. "Vendors like Fitbit and Xiaomi have helped propel the market with their sub-$100 bands, and IDC expects this momentum will continue throughout 2015."

He added that smart wearables are expected to take the lead next year. "Smart wearables like the Apple Watch and Micosoft's Hololens are indicative of an upcoming change in computing, and the transition from basic to smart wearables opens up a slew of opportunities for vendors, app developers, and accessory makers."

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the reigning Samsung flagship Galaxy S6 has been in the news for quite some time. It has taken it a week since it was officially confirmed, and has now debuted in France.

The OTA update weighs in at 623MB, which isn't all that large, when you have in mind that it brings along a new OS version and not just minor fixes. It does come with a few of those, though the changelog doesn't list them specifically.

What you will notice is the option to rid yourself from the Quick Connect and S Finder buttons in the notification shade for a less cluttered look. Another welcome feature is the ability to arrange the apps in the app drawer alphabetically, which was present in other Samsung models, but was missing on the Galaxy S6 original TouchWiz build.

The users in France state that the RAM management issue, which some Galaxy S6 users reported, hasn't been fixed. Though the phone boots at 58% RAM utilization, a few minutes later it ramps up to 85%, so it's hopefully the next firmware iteration that sees the issue addressed.

With the update already out there, you should expect it to start appearing in other parts of the world in the coming days and weeks.
