Xiaomi won’t be entering US smartphone market anytime soon

Xiaomi might have started selling accessories in the US, but those hoping to see the company – which became the world's third largest smartphone manufacturer in Q3 last year – sell its low-cost handsets stateside might have to wait longer.

Speaking at a recent ReCode conference, Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra said that selling smartphones in the US is part of the long-term plan, but declined to provide any specific date or time-frame.

This isn't the first time Barra has spoken about Xiaomi's US plans; he made a similar statement in an interview last month, when he also stressed on the need of having the right customer service in place before entering the world's second biggest smartphone…

AT&T begins selling Microsoft Lumia 640 XL

As announced last week, AT&T has started selling the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL smartphone, which is now available both online as well as via the carrier's retail stores.

As for the price, the device carries a tag of $250 sans agreement and will set you back just $0.99 on a standard two-year contract. It is also available on the carrier's Next plans – $8.34 per month on Next 24, $10.42 per month on Next 18, and $12.50 per month on Next 12.

As for the colour options, the AT&T Lumia 640 XL is available in matte black and matte white.

Verizon Lumia 735 now available for just $30 on contract

Just a week after it started selling the Lumia 735, Verizon has slashed the device's price from $80 to $30 on contract. The price for the contract-free version, however, remains the same at $192.

For those who aren't in the know, the same Verizon variant is also available for purchase from the Microsoft Store site, where it is listed carrying a price tag of $49 on contract and $199 without any agreement. It also comes bundled with free Nokia headphones.

Another point worth mentioning here is that those purchasing the Verizon Lumia 735 before July 31 are also entitled to receive a free one-year subscription of Office 365 Personal, worth $70.

Galaxy S5 Neo reportedly up for pre-order in Czech Republic

Although the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo has been the subject of several leaks, there has been no word on the release date of the device. However, that was until now, as the handset is already up for pre-order in Czech Republic, according to a new report published yesterday.

As per the report, the Galaxy S5 Neo carries a pre-order price tag of $490, and is available in black and white colour variants. At-least one retailer in the region has listed a shipping date of July 3 for it.

If you aren't already aware, the handset is powered by an Exynos 7580 SoC with 64-bit octa-core CPU clocked at 1.6GHz and a Mali-T720 GPU, features a 5MP front camera (just like the S6), and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. All other specs remain the same as that of the S5.

Sony E5663 spotted on benchmarking websites

A new, unannounced Sony smartphone – carrying model number E5663 – has been spotted on benchmarking websites GFXBench and Geekbench.

The information revealed suggests that the handset will be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 SoC with 1.9GHz octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and PowerVR G6200 GPU, and sport a 4.6-inch (1080 x 1920) display. In terms of camera, the device will feature a 21MP rear unit and a 13MP front shooter. It will come with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, and will run Android Lollipop out-of-the-box.

Given the E5663's 4.6-inch 1080p display, it is being said that the smartphone could well be the successor to the Xperia Z3 Compact (shown in the image above), which sports a 4.6-inch 720p display.
