ЕЕ, Vodafone, O2, Three and Tesco will carry the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in the UK

The new iPhone duo has been official for a few hours now and eager fans are already looking into their options for upgrading. There is still some waiting to be done as pre-orders are set for September 12 and availability for September 25, but that only means now is the perfect time to think things over and decide on an action plan.

The most straightforward approach, of course, would be to buy an unlocked unit from Apple. The iPhone 6s will start at £539 and go up to £619 and £699 for the 64GB and 128GB versions. The 6 Plus is priced at £619, £699 and £789, respectively. However, most users are probably finding those prices way too high and are looking to take advantage of a carrier-subsidized deal for an on-contract unit.

Most major UK carriers were quick to act and have already announced that they will be offering the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The list includes: Three, O2, Vodafone, Tesco Mobile and also EE, which means that EE’s subbrands – Orange and T-Mobile will most-likely be offering the devices as well.

On-contract prices are yet to be announced, but should be revealed in the next few days. It is also already clear that Three, O2 and EE will be offering prepaid deals for the Cupertino devices as well. Last, but not least, it is worth noting that Carphone Warehouse, one of UK’s leading unlocked device vendors will also be offering the iPhone duo. No prices have been stated there either, but they shouldn’t be very different from the aforementioned Apple quotes.

Sony takes dig at Apple, asks Siri about battery life of new iPhones

Soon after it was revealed that the new Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus smartphones have the same battery life as last year’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, rival Sony took a dig at the Cupertino-based company and its new smartphones.

A battery life worth talking about. Up to 2 days’ battery with #Xperia Z5 series: http://t.co/n7KuPge34V http://pic.twitter.com/ldA7KWYyns— Sony Xperia (@sonyxperia) September 9, 2015

The Japanese company tweeted an image – similar to the one Apple sent late last month along with its press invites for the 6s/6s Plus event – asking Siri about the battery life of the newly-unveiled iPhones, followed by the text “Switch to Sony.” Trumpeting the Xperia Z5 series’ 2 day battery life, the company’s tweet also included link to a Sony website that’s intended to help iOS users make a switch.

If you aren’t in the know, the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium, that were unveiled last week, have already received a price cut. There are also rumors that a Premium model of the Z5 Compact as well as Z5 Ultra will also be launched soon.

Apple promo video appears to confirm that iPhone 6s features 1,715 mAh battery

It looks like Apple accidentally revealed that the freshly announced iPhone 6s features 1,715 mAh battery. The component was revealed in the Cupertino giant’s promo video for the smartphone.

This means that the new iPhone 6s features a smaller battery than its predecessor, iPhone 6, which offers a 1,810 mAh solution. However, despite the smaller unit, Apple claims that iPhone 6s will offer similar battery endurance as the model it replaces, thanks to more efficient CPU and iOS 9.

A smaller battery in the new iPhone is hardly a surprise. Even though it looks the same as the outgoing model, iPhone 6s features rearranged internals that accommodate the new tech it offers. We reckon that some of the new components required the change in battery…

LG’s upcoming Nexus 5X now leaks in black, has specs rumored again

Another day, another Nexus leak. This time around we’re treated to what is purported to be the first leaked image showing the LG Nexus 5X in black.

This reportedly is a shot of an internal slide from the Korean company, and it reveals that the codename for the new Nexus by LG was Project N3. That kind of makes sense, since this would be the third Nexus that LG’s made. As with the pictures of the white model, the fingerprint sensor is in the same location underneath the camera, while the LED flash and the laser autofocus are both on the same side of it.

Alongside this shot, we also get another round of rumored specs for the Nexus 5X. It’s said to come with a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 12.3 MP rear camera, a 5 MP selfie snapper, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 chipset at the helm (with a hexa-core CPU), 2GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, and a 2,700 mAh battery. Support for LTE Cat.6 will be built-in apparently, which means maximum theoretical download speeds of 300Mbps, and 50Mbps uploads.

The software will obviously be Android 6.0 Marshmallow, as the Nexus 5X will be one of the two handsets that version will debut on (with the much talked about Huawei Nexus phablet being the other). The two devices are expected to become official on September 29 at a special event, though Google hasn’t sent out any invites yet.

Of course you should have had a grain of salt nearby for this, as it’s nothing but a rumor. However, it’s one that corroborates the design of the phone that was leaked before as well as most of the specs.
