YU teases Yutopia, says it’s the most powerful in the world

If you have heard of Micromax’s subsidiary “YU”, it is most-likely because of its line of affordable models, which have been doing fairly well in India. Now it appears the OEM is planning to finally launch its first proper flagship device. But YU has also dared to venture one step beyond with a lofty statement that Yutopia will be nothing short of “the most powerful smartphone ever”.

Now that is a big check to cash and, as always, the key might be in the details, as the whole statement reads: “to manufacture the world’s most powerful smartphone in India”. Even with this clarification, we remain skeptical as to whether YU’s ‘Project Achilles’ can actually pull this off. We’ll certainly love to be proven wrong, of course.

After the minion monster #YUNIQUE can’t wait to present the #Real Beast. Let the countdown begin— Rahul Sharma (@rahulsharma) September 25, 2015

The point of that matter is that YU is planning to expand its lineup, beyond the sub INR 10,000 mark it has been targeting so far with the Yureka and Yuphoria handsets. And, while making a higher end phone isn’t really a challenge in itself, creating one that is capable and affordable enough is no easy task.

Like we said, no hardware details have been shared about the phone yet, but leaked benchmark results suggest that the device will probably run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. There has also been world of a 3GB version, perhaps with 16GB of storage. The display on the Yutopia should be 5.2 inches with a resolution of either QHD or 1080p. Perhaps both options will be available, along with the aforementioned memory tiers. The camera setup should consist of a 21MP main shooter and an 8MP one on the front.

The smartphone will likely be launched in time for Diwali, which means we could see the device as early as next month.

The Indian Government’s Digital India initiative has received a major boost as software giant Microsoft has announced that it plans to work with the former to bring cheap broadband technology to 500,000 villages in the country.

“We believe that lost-cost broad band connectivity coupled with the scale of cloud computing intelligence that can be harnessed from data can help drive creativity, efficiency and productivity across governments and businesses of all sizes,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella while speaking at a dinner hosted in honour of Indian PM Narendra Modi.

The partnership could prove to be a game changer for India, where around 70% of the population lives in over 600,000 villages.

Nadella also said that the Redmond, Washington-based company will announce the availability of its cloud services operating out of the Asian country’s data centers.

“A key part of both Make in India and Digital India, bringing world class infrastructure into India, respecting India’s digital security, sovereignty and privacy is a key milestone for us,” he added.

The announcement from Microsoft comes after Google announced its plans to deliver high-speed public Wi-Fi in 400 train station across India.

Huawei Nexus 6P camera gets detailed ahead of its official debut

Alleged details on the camera of the upcoming Huawei Nexus 6P made the rounds online ahead of its debut. The flagship phablet will become official alongside LG Nexus 5X in a couple of days, on September 29 at an event in San Francisco.

Huawei Nexus 6P is tipped to feature a 12.3MP main camera with f/2.0 lens and large 1.55 μM pixels, which are the reason for the snapper’s fairly low resolution. Larger pixels will capture more light, thus giving the phablet’s camera an edge in low-light scenarios.

The front-facing camera of the Nexus 6P will reportedly be an 8MP unit. It is said to feature 1.4 μM pixels.

Physical measures of Nexus 6P are rumored to be 159.4 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm. We reckon that they don’t include the considerable camera hump that the phablet will sport.

Yesterday’s leaked Google slides confirmed that Nexus 6P will pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, 5.7″ QHD display, USB Type-C connector, fingerprint sensor, and stereo speakers. Of course, the device will come with Android Marshmallow out of the box….

Microsoft Lumia 950 XL measures revealed in leaked factory render

The physical measures of the upcoming Microsoft Lumia 950 XL got fully revealed by a leaked factory CAD render. Typically, factory renders are used in a device’s manufacturing process.

Microsoft Lumia 950 XL will measure 151.9 x 78.4 x 7.8 mm. The device’s thickest point at its camera hump will measure 9.9 mm thick. There is no word on the weight of the handset just yet.

This means that Microsoft Lumia 950 XL will be slightly shorter and wider than Samsung Galaxy Note5. For comparison, the Korean giant’s flagship phablet measures 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm.

Recently leaked presentation slides confirmed that Microsoft Lumia 950 XL will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable memory, and 5.7″ QHD display. The rest of the device’s lengthy spec sheet includes 20MP PureView camera, 3,300mah battery, USB Type-C port, and support for Qi wireless charging.

The Redmond giant’s next-generation flagship smartphone will debut in a little over a week, on October 6 in New York City. Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 550 will also debut alongside the Lumia 950 XL.

Freeze! 2 – Brothers

Freeze returns with a sequel. Now with more levels, improved visuals, and a bit more polish. The gameplay is more or less identical, where you have to guide the eyeball to the swirl by rotating the level around and using the freeze function drop the ball exactly where you want. There are some new gameplay mechanics, including a second ball and tons of levels to play.

HoPiKo

HoPiKo is a fast-paced action game where you have to be quick and accurate to complete the level. The gameplay mechanics are very simple; you just have to press and hold and move your thumb around to aim. Your objective is to move from surface to surface and reach the goal, in as short time as possible, while avoiding all the obstacles. Each level has five levels within and if you die before finishing the last one you go right back to the first. Each level gives you bonus points for finishing within a particular amount of time. There is also a soundtrack file that you have to collect within one of the levels that unlocks a new track. The game moves at a hectic pace and there is no time to dawdle around. Once you understand the controls and how the game works you’ll be tapping and swiping away frantically to try and get to the next level. The game also has some attractive visuals and a really perky soundtrack. Highly recommended.

PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist

PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist is a 2D side-scrolling action game featuring the most popular YouTuber, Felix Kjellberg a.k.a. PewDiePie as the main character. Regardless of your feelings about him, the game itself is pretty fun if you enjoy some retro 2D gameplay and reminds a lot of side-scrolling action games of the past. It’s some good old fashioned fun with a bit of humor and celebrity endorsement thrown in.

Astrå

Floors

Floors is one of those games where you test your reflexes and patience at the same time. The game has you jumping over spikes by tapping once or pressing and holding depending upon the number of spikes. The thing is the game rushes you into each level so fast you have to often take a split second decision on when to tap and if you need to press and hold. Some levels you don’t have to jump at all but you still end up doing it out of habit and hit the spike on the roof like an idiot. The only annoying part about this game is the ads, which can be gotten rid of by paying a small amount, which is highly recommended.
