Sony Xperia M4 Aqua gets price cut in US

Unveiled back in March at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) and released in June, the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua has received a price cut in the US. An announcement in this regard was made by the Japanese company on Twitter.

The handset is now available for just $200 from Amazon, which was earlier selling it for $300. Keep in mind that the discount is on the 16GB model Sony is officially selling in the US, and not on the 8GB international variant (also available on Amazon). Other retailers like Newegg still have the device listed for $300.

Last month, Sony shared a list of phones and tablets that are bound to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Although the Xperia M4 Aqua is part of that list, it isn’t yet known when it will receive the update.

Huawei Watch update lets it show you the battery level while charging

The Huawei Watch is now receiving a software update, build LCB43B. As the first letter shows, this isn’t the Marshmallow release of Android Wear, just a regular maintenance update to Lollipop.

The new version does however bring a couple of new features. First off, the watch will now display the battery level while it’s charging, thanks to a new app having been added. You can see this in action in the image below.

Next up, the Chinese company has included a new watch face that the owner of the smartwatch can customize however he or she wants. The mic gain has also been improved to enable better “OK Google” detection, the fitness tracking should now come with better step counting accuracy, and the Bluetooth reconnect mechanism has been optimized.

The new build is rolling out in stages (it should be completed by next week). If you haven’t been notified about the update yet, you can check for it manually. To do this, long press the crown button to open the app launcher, then go into Settings, scroll to About, and tap on System…

Motorola’s Cyber Monday deals focus on last year’s devices

Today Motorola has announced its upcoming Cyber Monday deals, and surprisingly or not they are all about last year’s devices. Not a single 2015 Motorola phone or smartwatch is included, as it turns out.

The Moto X (2nd Gen) will be 25% off if you choose the 64GB model, starting on November 30 at 11 AM CT and until December 7 at 11:59 PM CT. The new price is $299.99, down from $399.99.

During the same period of time you’ll also be able to purchase the original Moto 360 from 2014 for $149.99, which is 50% off its $299.99 price.

The Moto G (2nd Gen) will have a special one-day deal, from November 30 at 11 AM CT to December 1 at 10:59 AM CT. In this time window you’ll be able to buy it for only $99.99, which is “over 40% off” compared to its normal price of $179.99 apparently.

And that’s it. You may have been expecting more, but if you need other Motorola wares at a discount, you’re better off searching at third-party…

Samsung says the Galaxy Tab Pro won’t ever get Lollipop or Marshmallow

While most people are hoping their Android devices will at some point see a Marshmallow update, there are those still stuck on KitKat. For example, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 launched last year with Android 4.4 on board, and so far it hasn’t seen any big OS updates.

So, an owner of this tablet (who’s so far been extremely patient, it has to be said) took to Twitter to ask Samsung’s arm in the UK about a Lollipop or Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.

@JSmoove_12 We really don’t like bringing you news you don’t want to hear, but the TabPRO 8.4 will not be getting Lollipop. ^ES— Samsung UK (@SamsungUK) November 24, 2015

The answer? Well, in short: no. This tablet will never see an OS version bump. Not to Android 5.0, not to 5.1, not to 6.0. This pretty much means support for this device has ended from Samsung’s point of view. It’s an interesting development, especially considering that the not much newer Galaxy Tab S 8.4 at least got Lollipop. And that was all the way back in April. But the Tab Pro won’t be so lucky.

As a final word of advice, keep in mind that this information might only be valid for tablets sold in the UK, since it’s Samsung’s arm over there disseminating the bad news. Though we wouldn’t hope for an OS update for the Tab Pro coming to any other regions…
