La desaparición de hielo en el océano Ártico alterará patrones meteorológicos

La desaparición del hielo marino en el océano Ártico alterará los patrones meteorológicos en latitudes medias del hemisferio norte, según un informe elaborado por la Universidad de Exeter (Reino Unido) para Greenpeace España.

El estudio "Lo que pasa en el Ártico, no se queda en el Ártico" recopila la literatura científica existente sobre los efectos del deshielo ártico en el clima planetario, y concluye que serán especialmente notables en latitudes medias del hemisferio norte.

Los cambios de patrones previstos por los científicos se manifestarán en cambios notables en la trayectoria de las tormentas y a la corriente del chorro del hemisferio norte (el flujo de aire, que regula el clima en esta latitud).

Según el informe, esta influencia se producirá "de manera geográficamente desigual", por lo que los veranos podrán ser secos y calientes en algunas zonas y, sin embargo, tener un efecto contrario en otras, donde los veranos serían más húmedos.
