In our recent white paper for the Clayton Christensen Institute titled Disrupting Law School, Michele Pistone, a law professor at Villanova University, and I write that the forces of disruptive innovation have arrived firmly in the world of legal services and will likely only accelerate in the years ahead. Many law schools are under severe threat because of the resulting change in the labor market for lawyers. That threat is likely to accelerate when, not if, a disruptive innovator emerges in legal education (in this context, the news of 2U’s partnership with Syracuse to build an online juris doctor (JD) program is worth watching).

Acer held a press event today in New York and announced a couple of laptops and a smartphone – the Acer Liquid Zest Plus. Acer shared some of the key specs of the Liquid Zest Plus on stage – a 5.5″ HD display, a 13MP camera with something they call tri-focus, and a massive 5,000 mAh battery capable of quick charging. Tri-focus means the snapper relies on all types of AF used today – laser, contrast and phase detection. Linux For All (LFA) es un proyecto creado por el desarrollador Arne Exton que parte de un objetivo específico: una distro de GNU/Linux de tipo Live únicamente disponible en 64 bits, basada en Ubuntu pero que a su vez toma aspectos prestados de Debian y que busca tener como aspecto central al escritorio Fluxbox junto con el lanzador Cairo Dock. En su corto tiempo de vida ha logrado hacerse de una importante base de usuarios y de un nombre cada vez más destacado. Y ahora llega una nueva build de Linux for All (LFA), la 160419 que ya se encuentra disponible para descarga desde el sitio web oficial del proyecto. En este caso, la versión de Ubuntu en la cual se basa este proyecto es 16.04 Xenial Xerus (recién salido del horno) y la de Debian es 8.4 “Jessie”, mientras que el kernel utilizado es el 4.4 LTS. A diferencia de versiones anteriores, en Linux For all (LFA) 160419 solo se ha integrado el escritorio Fluxbox, conocido por ser muy liviano, ágil y poco exigente en cuando a los recursos que requiere. Antes, en cambio, llegaba también con Unity, Razor-Qt y XBMC para una experiencia bien multimedia, pero de un tiempo a esta parte Exton ha preferido ofrecer una alternativa bien rápida y fácil de adaptar en una amplia variedad de hardware, incluso aquel no tan moderno.
En suma, Linux For All (LFA) 160419 es un proyecto bastante interesante del cual ya hemos hablado en alguna ocasión; ya está disponible para descarga en la forma de una ISO híbrida que puede ser grabada en un pendrive o en un DVD, para iniciar nuestro equipo y probarla sin modificar nada en el, y ya luego en caso de decidirnos allí si proceder a realizar una instalación para utilizar esta distro en forma más permanente.
