The shocking news came just as the media was salivating with anticipation over the prospect of three evenings of songs bearing such titles as “We Are the Happiest in the World” and “We Have Nothing Envy” and “My Country Is the Best.”

This Android 6.0 bug might make you late for your next appointment

With the Doze features, new and powerful permission engine and many more goodies awaiting users after the Android 6.0 update, we can easily forget some of the simpler features we have been taking for granted. However, quite a few unfortunate early adopters of Marshmallow have been having issues with the simplest of tasks – keeping time.

More and more reports are coming in of freshly updated Android 6.0 handsets with system clocks lagging behind and going out of sync. That’s right, the Marshmallow powerhouse in your pocket can’t keep up with time.

The drift is quite small and can’t really be noticed under direct observation, but user comments on the Google issue have suggested that a delay of up to 15 minutes can be accumulated over a period of 12 hours – just enough to miss that all important meeting or be late for an exam.

Chances are that most of you are still a good few month away from getting a Marshmallow update, if at all, so we can’t imagine too many of you are affected. Still, for those that are – don’t despair. The bug is already addressed and a fix is included, along with the new emojis in Android 6.0.1. Users have also figured out a couple of temporary fixes. One is to simply restart your headset, forcing it to sync the time with the network, while another instructs to manually switch over form 4G to 3G, which should have the same effect.

So, if you just received that eagerly-anticipated Marshmallow OTA, be sure to take a watch with you, just in case.

Arch Linux ya no dará soporte a KDE 4

KDE 4 dejará de tener soporte en Arch Linux.Así se ha decidido de manera unánime debido a la gran dificultad que había de mantener tanto la versión 4 como la 5 actualizadas. Los usuarios de KDE 4 serán actualizados automáticamente a plasma 5.5

Antonio Rojas y los demás desarrolladores del sistema operativo de bajos recursos Arch Linux, han decidido que sus repositorios no darán soporte a KDE 4. Los usuarios que estén usando KDE 4, deberán actualizar inmediatamente a KDE 5.5 “Plasma”.

La razón de ésta decisión, la cual ha sido unánime, es que han dicho que les resultaba muy difícil mantener actualizada la versión 4 y la 5 al mismo tiempo y obviamente han eliminado el soporte a la versión más antigua.

Además, la versión 4 ya no tenía demasiadas novedades, por lo cual creen conveniente que es mejor sustituirlos por la nueva versión 5.5, la cual salió hace tan solo unos días.

Si no lo conoces, Arch Linux es un sistema operativo muy popular, el cual está destinado principalmente para equipos de bajos recursos, pero ofreciendo rendimientos parecidos al que ofrecen las distribuciones que tradicionalmente consumen más.Es un sistema operativo de típica instalación en dispositivos como ordenadores antiguos o en ordenadores pequeños como la Raspberry Pi, en la cual se instala gracias a RaspArch.

También es conocido por su facilidad para personalizarlo, pudiendo instalar gran cantidad de escritorios como Cinnamon, Gnome, Mate… KDE 4 era uno de ellos, sin embargo como ya has visto ya no lo será nunca más.

También han dicho que en unos días, las instalaciones con KDE 4 serán actualizadas de manera automática a la versión 5.5, sin que lo usuarios tengan que hacer absolutamente nada, lo cual es un punto a favor para todos.

Desde mi punto de vista, la medida me parece algo precipitada. Arch Linux es una distribución destinada para equipos de bajos recursos,en la cual muchos usuarios van a preferir la versión 4 de KDE por su menor gasto de recursos que la versión 5.5. Aunque también habrá usuarios que valoren mucho el interés de los desarrolladores de Arch Linux por tener siempre lo último. Todo depende de la opinión de cada uno.
