Does anyone have a good way to catch items at the top of 1.9 item elevators?

Hi all! In preparation for 1.9, I'm running tests on some new glass item elevator designs in v1.9-pre2. I'm using a piston-based solution to get the items moving up the glass tower, and that part works great. What I can't figure out is how to stop the items once they reach the top, because man they are screaming! Above a 25-block-high tower, I've had an item fly straight through 10 blocks of falling water and a solid block 3 blocks above that (with air in between), at which point it's still going so fast that it doesn't land for almost a minute.

Now granted, I'm only losing one or two items per stack this way, but it still adds up, and I suspect the problem will get worse with higher towers. Has anyone built a reliable solution?

Mojang are starting to crack down on servers infringing the EULA. via /r/Minecraft

Mojang are starting to crack down on servers infringing the EULA.

Hi,

Numerous server admins have recently been receiving emails from 'enforcement@mojang.com', regarding their purchases available from their websites being against the terms laid out in the EULA.

The emails specifically state that all servers must be in accordance with http://ift.tt/1fNAL8o and http://ift.tt/1p3r4PE.

They then list out all issues they find with the server, their suggested fixes, and give you 7 days to respond stating that you are going to comply, otherwise legal action may follow.

Both of the emails that I have personally seen have come from the same Mojang Brand Enforcement Agent, 'Brandon Andersson'.

My first reaction was to think that an email spoofing service had been used, as emails are scarily easy to fake, but after analysing the headers of multiple of these emails, they all point to being legitimate. The ISP that the emails originated from is the ISP that Mojang uses, and many online email address validators see the address as valid. I've spent quite a while looking through these headers, and nothing appears out of the ordinary.

Mojang have semi-recently acquired an entire team of Brand Enforcers, as seen here, http://ift.tt/1oAsgtw.

Around this time last year Mojang started cracking down on 'Minecraft clones' on mobile app stores that used assets from the game, and now it appears they are closing in on server admins that don't follow the EULA.

Thanks,

Everyone want Elytras, only thing my heart desires from 1.9 is Mending. via /r/Minecraft

Everyone want Elytras, only thing my heart desires from 1.9 is Mending.

For years I've been toiling on a survival castle and I have had it with those lazy pickaxes breaking all the time.

Seriously, you are here, in the zone, listening to some AC/DC while murdering some stone blocks with your enchanted diamond pickaxe when you realize it's about to break. All of the time you spent looking for diamonds, enchanting it and now it's going to let you down again, like a Star Wars prequel or Sean Bean dying all the time in movies.

But with 1.9, no more! With mending, you can cheat pickaxe death forever, and just keep going and going with the same pickaxe, building a complex relationship that can truly blossom to its full potential. May not be important for most of you guys, but when you're trying to reach height limit, the only thing you can do is use MCedit to elevate your build as a cube, then dig the damn thing out to get a good shape. And I can tell you, the digging required is driving me insane..

So, yes, I want to praise whoever decided to release Mending at Mojang like my personal savior. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I want to say, thank you, you've made a survival freak happy.
