As for memory options, there is a base model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, like the aforementioned certification described. But, there is also a 3GB one, again with 16GB of space. Verizon LG G3 starts getting Marshmallow update

Looks like Verizon has started rolling out the Android 6.0 update to LG G3 devices on its network. A Reddit user by the name of Jrdnram_98 is claiming to have received the OTA notification on their handset just a few hours ago, and also shared the following screenshot:

As you can see, the update carries the build number MRA58K and bumps the software version to VS98546A. It also includes Google’s security patch for January. Going by those who have commented on the Reddit thread so far, no one else seemed to have received the update yet.

Late last month, the LG G3 units in Poland started getting the Android 6.0 update. As you might already know, the small European country has over the time become a sort of test bed for the South Korean company’s software updates. Once the roll out is successful there, the update starts hitting devices in other regions worldwide.

Apple launches new Music Memos app, updates GarageBand

Apple has launched a new app for iOS devices. Called Music Memos, the app helps musicians instantly record their music whenever inspiration strikes.

One might think that sounds like the Voice Memos app that already comes pre-installed on iPhones. The difference is that the Music Memos app can intelligently tell what music is being recorded. It can then analyze the tempo and rhythm and automatically add a drum and bass background to accompany your music. This way the music feels more complete while you are recording it and later when you’re playing it back. The app is optimized for acoustic guitar and piano but also works with other instruments. Apple has a few samples for you to listen to on its website.

Music Memos also records uncompressed audio, either through the built-in mic or an external microphone and you can build a library and then name, tag, and rate your music. You can also comment and share your recordings and they get backed up on iCloud and synced across your devices.

The Music Memos app is available for free for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Apple also updated the GarageBand app for iOS. The two main new features here are Live Loops and Drummer. Live Loops brings a grid of loops that you can tap to play looping sounds. You can use the existing sounds or create new ones and then drag them around and rearrange them in the track flow to create your own arrangement.

Drummer includes nine virtual session drummers with their own individual style. Just like in the Music Memos app, the drummers can listen to the music you are playing and automatically come up with a beat that goes along with what you’re playing in an incredibly realistic manner that sounds like you’re jamming with a real person. You can control every aspect of the drumming or switch to another one to suit your preference.

Lastly, GarageBand for iOS also adds support for the larger, higher resolution display on the iPad Pro, and the 3D Touch on the iPhone…

T-Mobile confirms Marshmallow update for LG V10

T-Mobile started selling the LG V10 in the last week of October 2015. Weeks before that, the carrier released a list of devices on its network that it said will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Quite understandably, the V10 wasn’t in the list at that time.

However, being a flagship smartphone that released in October itself, there was never a doubt that it will receive the Android 6.0 update. Just that T-Mobile had to officially confirm it, which the carrier has done now by adding the V10 to the aforementioned list of devices.

There’s no information when the T-Mobile V10 Marshmallow update will actually roll out. A quick look, however, at the carrier’s website reveals that the device is in the first stage of the update process – Manufacturer Development – which is basically a point where the carrier and the device manufacturer agree to support a new software update.

For those who aren’t already aware, the LG V10 comes with Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) out-of-the-box. Its selling point is a secondary ticker display that is positioned directly above the device’s main touchscreen. You can read our review of the device…
