The Xperia E4 was quietly unveiled as a sort-of successor to the Xperia E3. It lacked LTE though, a key feature of the E3, so now the Sony Xperia E4g was announced just as quietly. The name says it all – an E4 with 4G LTE connectivity. Like its 3G-only twin, this phone will have a dual-SIM option too.

It seems that the mobile data speed increase comes with a small bump in chipset speed – the Xperia E4g is powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, up from 1.3GHz. Battery capacity remains at 2,300mAh, but Sony still promises two days of battery life.

The rest of the specs are the same – 5" qHD screen, Android 4.4 KitKat (updateable to 5.0 Lollipop), 1GB of RAM, 5MP/1080p main camera and 2MP/720p selfie camera.

The Sony Xperia E4g will launch in April at around €130, the same price as the initial pre-orders for the 3G-only phone (which has gone down to €120 since). There's on price for the dual-SIM version yet.

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone, which is expected to be unveiled on March 1, at MWC 2015 in Barcelona, will be launched in India sometime in the second week of April, according to a report from local news website IBNLive.

The report also notes that the device will be up for pre-booking for a couple of weeks beginning next month. Interestingly, there was no word regarding the curved screen variant, allegedly called the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Indian smartphone manufacturer Lava has updated its Xolo line of devices with a new Windows Phone smartphone. Dubbed Win Q1000, the device will retail for INR 8,499 ($137), although its availability isn't yet known.

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 SoC with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 302 GPU, and sports a 5-inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 resolution and 294 PPI pixel density.

It comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory (expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card), and dual-SIM support. In terms of camera, it features an 8 MP rear unit and a 2 MP front shooter. Measuring 143 x 71.3 x 8.8 mm, the Xolo Win Q1000 packs in a 2200 mAh battery, and will come pre-loaded with Windows Phone 8.1.

Nokia has released its HERE Android app on Amazon's App Store, allowing those without access to Google Play Store to download and use the app on their Android devices.

The mapping and navigation app, which was exclusively available on Windows Phone initially, has been downloaded more than three million times on Google Play. It has also recently come out of beta.

The most striking feature of HERE is that it lets you download all the maps you need on your device, allowing you to access them even when offline. Make sure your device is running Android 4.1 or higher before installing the app.

Following AT&T and T-Mobile, Sprint has also put up a teaser page for the Galaxy S6, letting customers pre-register for "the latest Samsung devices."

Featuring the Galaxy S Edge, the image (shown above) is similar to the one T-Mobile and AT&T are using, except of course the colour scheme, which in this case is Sprint's yellow.

AT&T's teaser image had "Spring 2015" written on the bottom, suggesting that the device would be available sometime between March and May this year. Samsung is expected to unveil the S6, as well as its curved screen variant, on March 1, at MWC 2015 in Barcelona.

LG G3 for Verizon Wireless is the latest version of the Korean company’s flagship smartphone to receive Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. The new OS build has the software version number VS98523A.

Verizon is the third major carrier to begin seeding Android 5.0 to LG G3 users. Sprint Wireless and AT&T released the update to their variants of the smartphone already.

Today Apple has made the iOS 8.3 beta 2 available for developers. So they can now test it, tinker with it, and report the bugs they find back to the Apple mothership.

The newest version of iOS brings with it a more diverse collection of emojis and flags. As a release note, Apple mentions that "the dialog that appears when connecting an iPhone to a CarPlay-compatible car is not functional". Also, Verizon's Voice-over-LTE service isn't supported in iOS 8.3 beta 2.

The first beta of iOS 8.3 went out earlier this month, and it had more new features compared to the second one – wireless CarPlay support, improved Google login, an updated voice for Siri, Apple Pay support in China, and a new emoji picker. This followed the release of iOS 8.2 beta 5 at the beginning of February.

The final build of iOS 8.2 is due to be rolled out next month to all compatible devices, with no additional betas to be outed in the meantime. On the other hand, iOS 8.3 may get a public beta period starting in mid-March. The public beta might come at the same time as the third developer beta.

A second beta of Mac OS X 10.10.3 is also out today, complete with a new Photos app, and there's a new beta OS available for the Apple TV…

OnePlus will break the promise it made to its customers last year when Google launched Android 5.0 Lollipop – namely that within three months from that point it would release an official update for the One smartphone. This is the company's first major Android update, and it hasn't handled things in a way that can please many people.

Through Carl Pei, its co-founder, OnePlus has today made it clear – Lollipop for the One will only come in March. The reasons for the delay are unclear.

This is true for the company's own ROM, called Oxygen OS, as well as CyanogenMod 12S. Both of these are based on Google's latest release, and they've both been delayed until next month.

Because Cyanogen, Inc. won't support OnePlus One devices sold in India with software updates, OnePlus has decided to create its own ROM for international markets – it will be available in parallel with CM12S, which will land as a consequence of the promise of two-year support made by Cyanogen for the One.

It's all rather confusing, but the short version is this: in March (if there aren't any more delays), you'll be able to update your One to CM12S from within CM11S, or try Oxygen OS if you so wish – though in that case you'll need to wipe your device and start fresh. An alpha build of Oxygen OS has been out for a while, but that's obviously not recommended for average users. Nor are CM12 nightlies, which have been available for the OnePlus One too.

Verizon has officially announced that the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime is headed its way. This has been leaked a while back, though the rumored release date didn't pan out.

That's good news, however, as the actual launch for the Core Prime will occur sooner than we expected. The phone will be up for grabs from Big Red in online form on February 26, which is this Thursday. You'll be able to find it in Verizon's stores starting on March 5.

To get one, you'll need to part with just $29.99, and sign a new two-year contract. If you prefer not to pay anything upfront, you can use Verizon's Edge installment plans, where you'll shell out $8 per month if you're eligible.

The Galaxy Core Prime will have support for the carrier's XLTE network. It sports a 4.5-inch 480×800 touchscreen, a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2MP selfie unit, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (expandable with microSD cards), and a 2,000 mAh battery.

After India, the Huawei Honor Holly is now ready to become available for sale in the UK too. It will be in stock at Amazon starting on March 6, and it's been priced at just £74.99.

The story behind that price is rather interesting, though. Huawei had a starting price of £109.99 in mind, but told people that it would lower that if they shared information about the handset on social media. The more shares, the lower the price. This campaign has now ended with the aforementioned level reached.

That's quite an innovative way of getting prospective customers involved in the pricing of a device, though it has to be said that Huawei would have sold a much lower number of Honor Holly units had it stuck with its initial price level.
