The Huawei P8 should be unveiled on April 15, but details about the new flagship are continuing to trickle in. The latest are alleged photos from the factory that is working on the P8 and show a book of schematics with the exact measurements of the handset.

The Huawei Ascend P6, P8's granddad, was well-known for being super thin – 6.2mm in 2013. Its successor went up to 6.5mm last year and the new model is set to be 6.6mm thick according to these drawings. The exact dimensions are 144.9 x 71.9 x 6.6mm, compared to the 138.8 x 68.8 x 6.5mm of the Ascend P7.

The Huawei P8 will have a bigger screen than its predecessor – 5.2" vs. 5" – accounting for the taller and wider device. Current rumored info points to a 2,600mAh battery, a small upgrade from the previous 2,500mAh battery, too.

There are a number of changes on the back, including dual-LED flash for the single 13MP camera (no dual-camera like some early rumors suggested). Below that is a wide rectangle whose purpose is unknown but could be a fingerprint scanner like on the Ascend Mate7.

The loudspeaker has moved from its traditional place on the back and is now on the bottom. There are two strings of holes on the bottom, it's not clear if there's a speaker behind each or if one is just decorative.

The Huawei P8 should keep the screen resolution at 1080p (Huawei's CEO thinks QHD on phones is just a waste of battery). The phone will be powered by the new in-house Kirin 930 chipset (also found on the MediaPad X2 tablet) and will be paired with 3GB of RAM.

For €50 less you are getting a 32GB Sandisk Ultra microSD card, a screen protector, an additional back cover and an Easy Cover windowed flip case. Not only that, but an iLike Bluetooth headset is included, itself costing €59 alone.

A year later, the Oppo Find 7 is still relevant, as it's powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset and packs 3GB of RAM. The 1,440 x 2,560 pixel resolution delivers stellar 538ppi density, and we're still seeing flagships launched with 1080p resolution, the case in point being the HTC One M9.

On the other hand, if 1080p is good enough for you, you can always opt for the Find 7a, which is otherwise almost identical save for the 2GB of RAM and half the storage at 16GB. Bundled with the same accessories, it is now on offer for €349.

Samsung has formally announced the new flagship devices – Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in India. The Galaxy S6 will be offered in three storage options – 32 GB for INR 49,900 ($800), 64 GB for INR 55,900 ($894) and 128 GB for INR61,900 ($993). Samsung's Galaxy J1, which was announced back in January this year, is now available for purchase in the Philippines. The device is priced at 5,490 Philippine pesos, or around $123.

Understandably, the aftermath of MWC 2015 hasn't seem much new hardware. It is only natural that the event exhausted manufacturers, so we haven’t really been getting a lot of device announcement lately.

This week, however, there has been some new and interesting announcements for us. First up, is the Microsoft Lumia 430 Dual SIM. The small Windows Phone device is Microsoft's latest effort to captivate low-end markets, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. It is powered by a rather outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset with 1.2 GHz with 1GB of RAM and has a rather small 4-inch 800×480 pixels display. On the plus side, the Lumia 430 Dual SIM will retail for the price of $70 and you really can't ask for more with that budget.

Samsung also had a few devices to show off during the past few days. There is the new budget Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 V tablet. It offers a 7-inch WSVGA display and is powered by a Spreadtrum chipset with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a single gig of RAM. Price is around $135, which is definitely a good deal for the hardware.

Joining it, are two other tablets – the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7. As their names, suggest, they are mostly identical, except for the screen size. Both offer a slight improvement over the previous model in terms of hardware and should be available for purchase sometime this April.

HTC had a new phone to show as well – Desire 820s dual sim. It also made the round a few days ago and is essentially a Mediatek variant of the standard Desire 820. Last, but not least, there is a tablet curtsey of Acer. It is available in a rather confusing range of hardware variants and is essentially a mid-range offer.

Curved displays seems to be the craze right now and even more so, after Samsung set the tone with the Galaxy Note edge. But even though curved display panels definitely sound like a formidable technical challenge and undoubtedly involve a complicated and most-importantly, expensive production process.

Chinese manufacturer Oppo might have found a better way to create a true edge-to edge display experience, as evident by a new patent, sent to us by an anonymous tipster. From what we managed to make out from the description, the new technology involves covering a traditional rectangular display module with what the company calls a panel with "special light guide structure". Now, just to be clear, this does not translate to a bezelless screen, but rather to one with a very slimmed-down side bezels.

The included schematic further clarifies this. It appears a special curve at the end of the said transparent overlay diffracts light from the panel in such a way, that it is essentially projected on it, extending beyond the actual display unit. This allows for the bezel of the display module to remain hidden, making it essentially invisible, without having to alter current manufacturing processes.

This could be the key to a future display revolution, as such a technology could allow manufacturers to bring that trendy, awe-inspiring edge-to-edge screen experience on a budget, with a more or less traditional display unit under the hood.

Now, the chart does not detail how much extra screen real estate it is going to deliver and whether or not there will be some magnification or distortion of the image nor does it explain how scalable this new technology is and what its limitations are, but it certainly gives us a peek behind the curtains of Oppo's R&D labs.

The patent has already been filed on December 19 2014 in China and the documentation we're referring to should be available online within three to six months, depending on how the process goes, so we can expect Oppo to take advantage of the patent after…

For yet another week, the top trending phones chart has been dominated by Samsung and, more specifically, the company’s latest flagship device – the Galaxy S6. The handset has been generating so much attention after its announcement at MWC 2015, that it is dwarfing its contenders in the list with a huge lead of about 40,000 daily hits.

Interestingly enough, the remainder of the top three section of the list, has also remained unchanged. The top of the line S6 is followed closely by the premium metal-body Galaxy A7 and the A5. Even the Galaxy Grand prime has managed to hold the forth place it had last week, so Samsung is definitely on a roll lately.

There are, however, some interesting rearrangements in the rest of the list. The Galaxy S5 has moved up a place to number 5, coming just ahead of the Asus Zenfone 5. The spike in interest with the Zenfone is much more impressive, though and the phone has skipped from 10th place, all the way to number 6.

Interestingly enough, the HTC One M9 interest plummeted down and it’s now inching towards the bottom of the chart at number 8. Perhaps, this is due to the recent overheating controversy it was involved in, so HTC has some damage control on its hands to get the flagship back on the road to success.

LG India’s Twitter account revealed that the G2 owners will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the second quarter of 2015 – between April and June. This will be a major update from the current KitKat and hence we recommend to backup your data, perform a factory reset and then download the Lollipop update over a Wi-Fi connection.

Another week has passed and, naturally, it’s time to look back and see what excited the mobile world during the past seven days. It seems MWC 2015 had something to offer most every fan out there. Samsung introduced the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, HTC showcased the new One M9, but there is still a certain manufacturer that seemed to miss the venue almost completely, leaving fans wanting.

Sony, did not manage to bring the eagerly-anticipated Xperia Z4 to Barcelona and fans are really getting impatient. Naturally, this has resulted in a tidal wave of rumors about the upcoming handset. We have seen renders, alleged specs and even a few images slip through the cracks. This is elevating hype even more, which will hopefully turn out to be in Sony’s best interest once the phone finally sees the light of day.

The Android scene, as a whole has been very active during the week. Most manufacturers are still knee deep in the Lollipop update frenzy and we are constantly hearing news of various flagships and even some popular midrangers, like the LG L90, getting an Android OTA.

In other news, a few new devices surfaced during the week. Rumors are hinting at a new Sony camera-centric phone, as well as a lager HTC One M9, dubbed the M9+. On the Samsung front, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are fast on their way to consumer markets after piling up a record number of preorders and both should be hitting shelves around the middle of April in the US and UK. Other areas are sure to follow close.
