One M9+ variant M9e spotted at TENNA

Nearly a month after HTC unveiled the One M9+, a plastic variant dubbed M9e has been spotted in a TENAA (China's FCC) certification database listing.

According to a report from Engadget, which was the first to spot the device, it has almost the same specs as that of the One M9+: MediaTek chipset with 2.2GHz octa-core processor, 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 3GB RAM, 20MP main camera, UltraPixel front shooter, microSD card slot, and fingerprint reader. However, there is no Duo Camera.

Since it is least likely that the One M9+ will be launched outside of Asia, it shouldn't be surprising if the M9e is made available in the West, the report…

Microsoft quietly testing new Lumia with 4.7″ screen in India

Microsoft has decided to attack the entry-level smartphones category in India by introducing multiple models. While the high-end Lumia devices remain work-in-progress, yet another budget-level Windows Phone device is being tested in India.

As per Zauba's import data, Microsoft is testing a Lumia phone with RM-1127 product code. This phone has a 4.7" display and is a single-SIM device.

Bearing a declared value of INR4,578, the actual price of this phone might be significantly higher, as noted in the case of Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL recently. Since the Lumia RM-1127 is only being tested, it might take couple of months for it to release formally.

Microsoft Lumia 640 to be among first to get Windows 10 update

Microsoft has confirmed that the Lumia 640, which was announced at this year's MWC along with its larger brother – the Lumia 640 XL. will be one of the first devices to receive the Windows 10 for Phones update.

The confirmation (see video above) was made by Microsoft's Scandinavian General Manager Ossi Korpela, who also called the Lumia 640 as an affordable high-end device.

Both the Lumia 640 and 640 XL were unveiled in India last month, and are now available for purchase in the UK. The former also recently made a brief appearance on the US Microsoft Store website, giving us an idea about the carrier pricing for the device in the…

Upcoming iPad Pro will feature A9 CPU, Force Touch, and NFC

A new report from Apple Insider citing people familiar with Cupertino’s agenda sheds light on some of the specs of the upcoming iPad Pro. The upcoming full-size slate will allegedly feature next-generation A9 CPU, NFC, Force Touch, and USB-C connector.

The presence of an Apple A9 chip in the 12.9″ iPad Pro should hardly catch anyone by surprise. The component will all but certainly be a beefed up version of the CPU that will debut in the iPhone 6 successor.

NFC might allow the iPad Pro to work as a terminal for receiving Apple Pay transactions, as well as for connecting the tablet to a previously rumored, pressure-sensitive Bluetooth stylus. It is highly unlikely that the tablet will be used often for making payments given its size.

USB-C will not be the only iPad Pro port. The slate is also expected to have a Lightning connector as well.

Last week, the alleged measures of the unannounced slate appeared via leaked schematics. Apple iPad Pro will likely debut at some point this fall.

The Top 10 trending phones of week 18

This week turned out quite surprising and brought us one of the most diverse editions of our Top 10 trending chart. Just don't expect the Samsung Galaxy S6 to surrender the crown, it still remains undisturbed at the top.

The Top 10 trending phones chart is a recap list of the devices that gathered the most hits throughout the week. In other words, the chart represents the interests of the majority of you, our visitors, and is an indication of what currently interests you.

The Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML entered last week straight to number 2 and retains the runner-up position in this edition. The LG G4 stormed to the third spot immediately after its official launch a few days ago.

In fourth we find another new entry in the face of the Micromax Canvas Spark Q380 with its eye set on the podium, only a few thousand hits behind the G4. And breathing down the Q380's neck is no other than the Xiaomi Mi 4i midranger on a budget.

Long-time medalists Galaxy Grand Prime and Galaxy S6 edge have fallen down the ranks and occupy the 6th and 7th spots this week. The Sony Xperia Z4 hasn't managed to hold on to last week's 5th position and slips down to 8th. Samsung's other two usual suspects Galaxy S5 and A5 complete this edition of the Top 10 trending phones chart.

Week 18 in review: LG G4, Xperia P2 and Blackberry devices

Another week has passed and so it's time to recap the major events to the tech scene from the last few days. As most of you surely know, the LG G4 is official and it delivers on everything the rumors promised. LG's flagship comes with a very distinctive style due to its genuine leather stitched back and very slightly curved display.

Sony has also had a major presence in the news this week. For anyone that might have missed it, the long-overdue Xperia Z4 was made official, but in a rather surprising fashion. Quietly launched in Japan the phone might lose the Z4 moniker on international markets, and instead be called the Z3+.

Blackberry also came out with a major surprise this week. Three mysterious new devices have leaked in photos and renders, including a very interesting slider with a double-edged touchscreen, much like the one on the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge.

In other news, after a lot of speculation, Nokia has officially denied plans to re-enter the smartphone market next year. The decision is still shrouded with a lot of controversy, though, so here's to hoping the legendary company will reconsider its retirement from smartphones.

If you think you might have missed something from the busy week, here is a list of what you, our readers, found most interesting in the tech world.

Microsoft recently shared more details on the Windows 10 OS for desktops but didn't give us much on its phone platform. Later, the operating system group chief Joe Belfoire noted that the Windows 10 for phones will arrive later this year.

Now we learn Microsoft is also planning to introduce two high-end Lumia devices with its latest platform. These Lumia devices can be expected to run Windows 10 out of the box.
