Sony Lavender specs revealed, larger than the Xperia C4

We showed you a lone picture of the upcoming selfie-centered Sony Lavender yesterday, but there was no update on the previously rumored hardware. Well, we're going to address that today with new intel on the matter.

The smartphone is quite similar to the yet unreleased Xperia C4, but a few specs have been taken up a notch or two. For starters, display size is allegedly going to be larger than the 5.5 inches of the Xperia C4, and although it's not specified exactly, the 6-inch Xperia T2 Ultra may give you a hint. It's going to be a FullHD panel, the source reiterates. As we suspected looking at the photo, the Lavender will have extremely thin side bezels, too.

The other key feature is the front camera, which gets a significant upgrade to 13MP over the Xperia C4's 5MP unit. With a front LED flash on board, the smartphone is targeted squarely at the selfie-loving crowd. On the back there's another 13MP shooter, and both units employ Sony's own and quite popular IMX214 sensor.

Computing power is said to come from a Mediatek MT6752 chipset with an octa-core 1.7GHz Cortex-A53 processor, joined by a dual-core Mali-T760 GPU and 2GB of RAM, all of which can be found in the Xperia C4 as well. The phone will boot Lollipop out of the box, and a dual SIM model will be available too.

Obviously, it's way too early to talk price and availability, but we'll keep you…

It's worth mentioning that the device went on sale in Hong Kong and Singapore earlier this week, carrying a price tag of $205 and $210, respectively. There is, however, no word yet on how much the handset will cost in…

Cricket becomes first US carrier to offer Lumia 640

Cricket Wireless has become the first carrier in the US to start offering the Microsoft Lumia 640, which was announced at this year's MWC along with its larger brother – the Lumia 640 XL.

The AT&T subsidiary is selling the device (only the cyan version is available) for $130 sans contract, which is a bit steeper than the $89 price tag it was spotted carrying when it made a brief appearance on the US Microsoft Store website last month.

If you purchase the Lumia 640 before June 30, you'll get a 1-year Office 365 Personal bundle (usually worth $70) for free. It's also worth mentioning that Microsoft has already confirmed that the handset will be one of the first devices to receive the Windows 10 for Phones update.

ZTE launches its Nubia brand in India on May 19

Last week we found out about ZTE's intentions of taking its Nubia brand to India. At that point some leaked information claimed the Z9 Mini would be the first Nubia smartphone to be released in the subcontinent.

Today ZTE has started sending invites for the Nubia launch event to Indian media outlets. The big unveil is scheduled for May 19, so next Tuesday.

The Chinese company hasn't hinted at which device or devices will be revealed on that occasion. That said, even if it's not going to be the Z9 Mini as previously rumored, it stands to reason that ZTE will focus on the Z9 line, which also comprises the Z9 and the Z9 Max. This makes sense because these three handsets are the latest to come out of the Nubia sub-brand.

ZTE has partnered exclusively with Amazon India for releases in the subcontinent, though for now it's unclear if it will employ the flash sale model pioneered by Xiaomi or not. The full details should become available next week, of…
