Samsung Galaxy J1 Pop is reportedly in development

The Samsung Galaxy J1 (SM-J100) is just a few months old at this point, but a new report claims its maker is already hard at work on a new version.

The device which is currently in development will have the model number SM-J110, and it could be called Galaxy J1 Pop when it launches – unless "Pop" is just a codename for now. Whatever it is, it makes us reminisce a certain phone from 2011.

The J1 Pop is said to arrive soon, and it should get a global release. Obviously then the big developing markets such as Brazil, India, and Russia will have it too. The new device should come with a few improvements in terms of hardware compared to its predecessor (pictured above), though you shouldn't expect it to be anything but a low-end offering.

Sadly no more details have been shared. If this rumor pans out, it means the original Galaxy J1 hasn't been the success Samsung wanted it to be.

LG G4 will be available to order at T-Mobile tomorrow

T-Mobile is the latest US carrier to announce availability information for the LG G4, following the likes of Sprint and US Cellular.

If you're a fan of the magenta carrier, you'll be able to order the G4 online starting tomorrow, May 27. The phone will become available in stores on June 3, but the online orders will start shipping before that.

As always when T-Mobile is involved, to get the handset you pay nothing upfront, then followed by 24 equal monthly payments. In this case, the amount of each of those will be $24.99, for a total price of $599.76.

And "while supplies last", if you purchase the G4 online from tomorrow and by June 21, you'll even receive a 128GB microSD card for free. The leather brown cover you can see in the image to the left is going to be exclusive to T-Mobile in the US.

As you may know, the G4 is LG's flagship offering for this year. AdDuplex statistics reveal rise in Windows Mobile 10 users

AdDuplex's latest monthly report on the Windows Phone market reveals a curious new trend. According to the company's numbers, Windows 10 Technical Preview usage has grown a whopping 1.6%, which doesn't sound like a lot, but is more than twice the 0.7% share from a month ago.

It appears a lot more device are now running on the still unstable software, which is surely good for pushing development forward. The reason for the sudden spike isn't quite clear, but, it seems to be part of a larger update wave. Windows Phone 8.1 has also grown in popularity over the same period, inching towards a 75% share. Naturally, this is at the expense of Windows Phone 8.0 and older Windows Phone 7.x versions.

The rest of the company's graphs offer little surprise. Microsoft still holds a whopping 86.75% of the Windows Phone ecosystem. The number has even increased by 0.21 points over last month. Device popularity has also remained rather unchanged. The Nokia Lumia 520 still tops the popularity chart with 21.6%, but has been battling it out with the Lumia 535. The former has lost about 1.5pp popularity, which, coincidentally, is exactly what the latter has gained.

Android 5.1 update rolling out for Korean LG G Flex2

Android Lollipop 5.1.1, the latest available OS version, is now seeding for the LG G Flex2, or at least for its Korean version, sporting model number F510S. That puts the G Flex2 among a select group of less than 1% of Android devices that boot Google's latest.

The build, carrying internal designation F510S15b, is dated May 12, but is only now making its way to the device. As well as bringing the OS up to date, the new firmware is said to fix certain bugs, leading to improved performance.

Additionally, and that may be more readily noticeable, the Smart Bulletin and Smart Notice features have been disabled by default, again aiming for a performance boost. Naturally, you can re-enable both of them from the home screen and widgets settings respectively.

With the release already out, we should expect global models to follow in the coming weeks, though obviously no specific timeframe is…

Sony Xperia Z3+ quietly launched globally

The Sony Xperia Z3+ just became official without any major fuss. The global version of the already released Japanese Xperia Z4 changes nothing but the name and is the same incremental upgrade over the Xperia Z3.

There are several upgrades over to note in terms of hardware, and the Snapdragon 810 chipset is one, replacing the S801 in the previous model. The 16GB internal storage option is ditched and the Z3+ will now come with 32GB of built-in storage, while RAM remains at 3GB.

The new device packs the same 5.2-inch 1080p TRILUMINOUS display and measures 146 x 72 x 6.9 mm, slightly slimmer than the 146 x 72 x 7.3 mm of the Xperia Z3, but otherwise identical. Those fractions of a millimeter, however, have resulted in a downgrade in battery capacity – 2,930mAh, compared to the 3,100mAh of the previous gen.

Design has been given a few tweaks, the most welcome one being the flapless microUSB. The headline IP65/IP68 certification has been retained though. The front speakers have been moved to the edges of the front panel, in a throwback to the Xperia Z2.

Not much has been changed in the camera department in terms of hardware and the primary unit has the same 20.7MP Sony Exmor sensor, sitting behind a 25mm-equivalent f2.0 lens. The front camera is upgraded to 5MP though, again with a wide-angle 25mm glass.

Sony introduced the waterproof Xperia M4 Aqua Dual just before the monsoons hit India. The Xperia M4 Aqua Dual is a dual SIM smartphone priced at INR 24,990 ($390) and will be made available from today in Black, White, and Coral color options.

The Xperia M4 Aqua Dual comes with IP 68 certification without any flaps damaging the usability of the micro USB port. Powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, the Xperia M4 Aqua Dual features 5-inch HD IPS LCD display. The phone offers 16GB built-in storage which can be expanded by up to 128GB thanks to the microSD card slot.
