Just days after LG Greece revealed that the G2 Mini will receive Android Lollipop this month, the update has started rolling out in the country, according to a report from TechValue.

As you can see in the screen-shot above, the update brings Android 5.0.2 to the device. The report also notes that the update will slowly be made available to G2 Mini owners across Europe.

For those who aren't aware, the G2 Mini is a shrunk down version of the larger G2. It was announced back in February last year and released a couple of months later.

Windows 10 for smartphones – which is officially known as Windows 10 Mobile – will launch in Q3 this year, according to a report from Neowin, which cites a slide (shown below) of an alleged presentation from Microsoft.

As can be seen, the slide mentions that the mobile OS will arrive in "late next quarter", which means towards September-end. However, it's quite possible that regular consumers might have to wait a little more given that the presentation was prepared for one of the software giant's partners.

Five months after it was unveiled, the Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone is now available for purchase in the US, where Amazon is selling it for as low as $442.43. The model, which is available in white, offers HSDPA and dual-SIM support.

Specs-wise, the device is powered by an Exynos 5430 chipset with octa-core CPU, and sports a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It has 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory (expandable up to 64 GB via a microSD card), and packs in a 2600 mAh battery.

In terms of camera, the A7 features a 13 MP rear unit and a 5 MP front shooter. It was launched running Android OS, v4.4.4 (KitKat), but started receiving the Android Lollipop update last month.

The Xperia Z4 smartphone – which was unveiled by Sony in Japan back in April this year – is now available for purchase in the country, where NTT docomo is offering it for 93,312 yen ($755).

The carrier has also rolled out an update (with build number 28.0.B.0.457) to the device that fixes an issue related to its speaker volume. The handset will be launched by other Japanese carriers in the coming days.

Sony Mobile does not plan to launch phones equipped with USB Type-C connector in the near future. The Japanese tech giant is considering the connectivity solution, but will wait for it to gain more traction in the industry before committing to it.

Apparently, the new connector will not help Sony make thinner and lighter smartphones. Currently, the company is focused on producing thinner camera and display modules in order to achieve the aforementioned goal.

USB Type-C is gaining popularity because of its reversible plug connector and potential for speedier data. Both Apple and Google released notebooks featuring the new connector. The search giant is also committed to bringing it to it Android smartphones as well.
