Google to launch a new Android One phone in India this month

Google will launch a new Android One smartphone on July 14, according to an Economic Times report. The device, which will be manufactured by local company Lava, will carry a price tag of around INR 12,000 ($190).

While Indian vendors weren't involved in the design and development of the first batch of Android One smartphones (shown in the image above), the latest handset has been developed in close collaboration with Lava and MediaTek, the report notes. Known specs of the device include MediaTek SoC, 2GB RAM, and 5-inch display.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos receives Android 5.1.1 update

Despite the fact that it isn't being sold in that many markets, it's now time for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos to get its taste of the absolute latest version of Android, namely 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The single-SIM version of the Galaxy S6 has been on the receiving end of this particular iteration of Android for a few weeks now, depending on region and carrier.

As you can see from the screengrab to the left, in the case of the dual-SIM Galaxy S6 Duos, the download will be around 620MB in size if you choose to apply the update over-the-air.

You can obviously do that, but if for some reason you don't get the update notification on your phone, you can always turn to Kies, Samsung's desktop PC app, for help. You should be able to install the new software using it too.

For now, the rollout seems to be confined to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. However, it's sure to spread to other markets soon.

Just as the changelog in the screenshot notes, aside from bumping up the Android version, the new software also brings with it some unnamed security enhancements, improved UI and system stability, and performance…

Today we got an even better evidence the Galaxy J2 is indeed now in testing. The smartphone popped in the GeekBench results database. According to its recorded data, the J2 packs a quad-core 1.2GHz 32-bit processor (probably Cortex-A7), 1GB of RAM and runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

From the previous leak we know the Galaxy J2 display should be a 4.7" qHD unit, a small bump over the Galaxy J1.

We expect the device to go official very soon. It should be launched in India, and probably China, before other markets.
