Meizu Pro 5 delayed until November due to factory flood

The Meizu Pro 5, which was made official later last month and was scheduled to go on sale on October 12 won’t be released until next month. According to the company, the delayed was caused by floods that hit a manufacturing facility in the Chinese city of Guangdong.

The facility in question manufactures the unibody chassis. There was, however, no word on whether the unfortunate situation would affect the release or sales of any of the Chinese company’s other devices.

If you aren’t already aware, the Pro 5 is powered by a Samsung Exynos 7420 chipset, and sports a 5.7″ Super AMOLED screen of 1080p resolution. It comes with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB memory options, and packs in a 3050mAh battery.

In terms of camera, the handset features a 21MP rear unit and a 5MP front shooter. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Flyme 5…

OnePlus 2 to be available in India sans invite on October 12

OnePlus has announced that its latest flagship, the OnePlus 2, will be available for purchase on Amazon India without any invite on October 12, which is coming Monday. However, the open sale will last for just one hour – 12:00 to 1 PM.

“While we’ve alleviated the invite demand to a reasonable extent on account of faster roll-outs, we feel that we owe it to you all to make it a bit more convenient this time around,” the Chinese smartphone manufacturer said in a blog post.

It’s worth mentioning that this would be the first open sale for the “2016 flagship killer” ever since it was released back in August this year. The handset, which went on sale in Malaysia last month, costs INR 25,000 (around $385) for the Sandstone Black variant…

Lumia 950 will be AT&T exclusive after all, Microsoft confirms

Shortly after Microsoft announced its new Windows 10-powered Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones earlier this week, there were reports that the former will only be available through AT&T. However, it was later said that the deal isn’t an exclusive one.

Clearing the confusion, Microsoft has now issued a formal statement on the matter, confirming that the Lumia 950 will indeed be an AT&T exclusive, at-least for the near future. “We’re refocusing our channel strategy, narrowing it in the short-term and planning for broader operator availability long-term,” the Redmond, Washington-based company said.

“While there was interest across the board from U.S. operators, currently we’ve made the decision to have AT&T carry the Lumia 950, and then sell both the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL unlocked through our own channel in Microsoft stores. In Europe, Deutsche Telekom will carry the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, and we’ll have more to share about other carriers shortly.”

Although initially, it was being said that an exclusive deal with AT&T is the only option Microsoft has because no other US carrier is interested in carrying the new Lumia flagship duo, that proved not to be the case after T-Mobile CEO John Legere confirmed that they are ready to sell the devices.

To be clear: We did not turn down the new Windows devices. MSFT gave to AT&T. If @microsoft wakes up, we’ll talk about @TMobile carrying— John Legere (@JohnLegere) October 8,…

Skype is giving you 20 minutes of free calls to apologize for its big outage

On September 21, Skype suffered one of its worst outages in history. The extremely popular service for chatting and calling was down for many hours for most users, a development which obviously didn’t go unnoticed. The Microsoft-owned company did eventually manage to get things under control again, and it’s been smooth sailing ever since.

Now though it looks like Skype is giving people 20 minutes of free calls as an apology for the outage. These are going to be available for 7 days since the moment you receive a message from the company detailing the promotion. You can use those minutes to call 60 landline and 8 mobile destinations across the world.

“Sometimes saying sorry just isn’t enough”, Skype says, which is why it’s cooked up this idea. Look for the free minutes to arrive in your account in the next few days.

OnePlus running pizza-style ’60 minutes or free’ delivery promotion for its One smartphone in India

Taking cue from some of the leading pizza delivery companies in the country, OnePlus has launched a promotional campaign in India under which the company is promising to deliver its One smartphone to customers within 60 minutes, else they’ll get it for free.

“Can you ever imagine receiving a smartphone in about the same time as you order a pizza? At OnePlus, we think it’s possible,” said Vikas Agarwal, General Manager – India, OnePlus. “At OnePlus we always look to challenge the status quo and wow our fans by making the user experience even better.”

“Therefore we are daring ourselves this time to deliver the original flagship – The OnePlus One – to our fans in Bengaluru who wish to own the phone, within the guaranteed 60 minutes or give it away for free.”

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has partnered with Blowhorn, a local online marketplace for last mile logistics, for the promotion. To take advantage of the promotion, all you have to do is to place your order through the Blowhorn app, which is available for download from the Google Play Store.

The 60-minute countdown begins once your order is accepted. And if due to any reason, the delivery gets delayed, you’ll not have to shell out a single penny from you pocket and the phone will be yours. While the promotion is currently limited to Bengaluru, it will be expanded to other cities in the future, the company…

Apple iPad Pro will be available to order in late October, rumor says

The (literally) biggest device Apple announced last month at its fall event was the iPad Pro. The 12.9-inch tablet is the largest Apple’s ever made, and it’s still not available to purchase unfortunately.

That, however, may change towards the end of this month. According to certain unnamed sources that are said to be reliable, you’ll be able to order an iPad Pro online starting in late October. That said, deliveries will probably start in early November.

That’s also when the iPad Pro will be up for grabs in physical stores, the same people go on to say. The exact same timeline apparently applies to the new Apple TV set top box too: like the tablet, it will be available online at the end of the month, with shipping starting in early November, which is also when it will be found in…
