Samsung: Los Samsung Galaxy S7 y Galaxy S7 edge son los teléfonos más bonitos del planeta

No es la primera vez que un ejecutivo de Samsung lanza flores sobre sus propios smartphones, aunque tampoco es nada extraño que vean a algo de su creación como lo mejor que puede haber en el mercado. Durante el 2015, se dijo que los Samsung Galaxy S6 y Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge eran los teléfonos más bonitos del mundo, algo pero lo visto muchos de los consumidores dieron como bueno.

Desde hace unos días estos terminales tienen ya unos sucesores, los recién presentados en el Mobile World Congress de Barcelona Samsung Galaxy S7 y Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Como ya os podéis imaginar, ha vuelto a salir un ejecutivo para decir que sus teléfonos vuelven a ser los más bonitos del planeta. ¿Pero es eso realmente así?

¿Son los nuevos Samsung Galaxy S7 los smartphones más bonitos de La Tierra?

Lo cierto es que los nuevos teléfonos móviles no se ven muy diferentes a sus antecesores, creados a partir de metal y vidrio. Ésto ha hecho que el presidente comercial de comunicaciones de Samsung, DJ Koh, volviera a repetirse en la frase de que los diseños de sus terminales son los mejores que hay en estos momentos en el mercado.

Lo hizo precisamente durante la presentación de los mismos, por lo que la subjetividad desde luego no paraba de navegar por el aire. Estando en su posición y ante miles de asistentes de su propia compañía y de la prensa, en un evento grabado, lo lógico es que dijera esas palabras, ¿pero tiene él la complicidad de los consumidores?

Desde Andro4all queremos conocer si estáis de acuerdo con lo dicho por DJ Koh o si pensáis que hay dispositivos con mejor diseño que el Samsung Galaxy S7 y S7 Edge. ¿Aprobáis las palabras del ejecutivo de Samsung o os gustan más otros smartphones? ¿Cuál de ellos?

Google Fiber coming to some buildings in San Francisco

San Francisco is one of the biggest tech cities in the US, so it’s been a real surprise that Google Fiber has managed to avoid it for so long. But Google has officially announced that Fiber is coming to San Francisco, at least to a small extent.

Google Fiber will be coming to some buildings in SF, namely apartment buildings and condos. It’ll also appear in some public buildings and affordable housing properties for free.

If you want to find out if it’s coming to your building, hit the source link! And if you’re a property manager, there are resources for bringing Fiber to your building. Though it won’t happen for a while, it’s exciting to see Google Fiber finally hit San Francisco!

El Xiaomi Mi 5 deja en ridículo al iPhone 6s

Esta misma mañana hemos asistido a uno de los lanzamientos más esperadas del panorama Android de los últimos años, la del nuevo tope de gama chino, el Xiaomi Mi 5, del cual puedes conocer todas sus características en nuestro artículo de presentación. Este nuevo terminal no ha dejado indiferente a nadie, ya sea por sus especificaciones punteras o por su precio contenido, o quizá por una mezcla de las dos.

Algo que quizá no nos esperábamos de este nuevo dispositivo de Xiaomi, es que pudiese dejar en evidencia a otros terminales que cuestan casi el doble de dinero, como el iPhone 6s en algunos aspectos como el apartado fotográfico gracias a su cámara de 16 megapíxeles, tal y como se demuestra en un vídeo oficial subido en el canal de YouTube de Xiaomi.

Tal y como se observa en este vídeo, la cámara del Xiaomi Mi 5 supera con creces a la del iPhone en cuanto a la capacidad de mantener el enfoque fijo en un objeto, mientras el terminal está en continuo movimiento, esto es posible gracias que el terminal chino incorpora un innovador sistema de estabilización de 4 ejes, no así el terminal de Apple, cuyo estabilizador utiliza tres ejes.

Teniendo en cuenta que este vídeo se trata de un spot promocional de la marca, no descartamos que los resultados finales puedan variar, por ello debemos esperar a poder realizar un análisis a fondo del terminal para comprobar si realmente la cámara del Mi 5 puede competir contra los dispositivos más top, mientras tanto, puedes ver nuestro vídeo con las primeras impresiones.

Esta prueba, demuestra una vez más que, actualmente, no es necesario gastar demasiado dinero para poder tener un smartphone completo, puntero y equilibrado, y que los dispositivos llegados del mercado chino cada vez tienen menos que envidiar a los de las marcas más populares.

Xiaomi announces Mi 5 with some impressive specs

The Xiaomi Mi 5 has officially been announced, and it looks promising. It features a 5.15-inch full HD display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, a 16MP rear camera with OIS, a 4MP front-facing camera, a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 via a USB Type-C port, NFC, fingerprint sensor, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the MIUI skin.

The device has a metal frame and a glass back. If you opt for the highest-end model, though, you’ll get what Xiaomi calls a 3D ceramic back. It’s rated at up to 8H on the Mohs harness scale, so it should be very resistant to scratches and damage.

The storage used is UFS 2.0, rather than the eMMC traditionally used. This storage is 87% faster than eMMC, so your bog down when something is being actively written to storage.

The Mi 5 will come in three tiers. The RMB 1999 (about $306 USD) tier will have a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 and 32GB of storage with the glass back, and presumably under 4GB of RAM. The RMB 2299 (about $352 USD) tier will have a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 and 64GB of storage. The RMB 2699 (about $413 USD) tier is the PRO model, with a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and the 3D ceramic back.

The device definitely looks promising. Though the screen is only 1080p HD, the rest of the specs are pretty high end. Plus, the price is fairly low. It’s a shame we probably won’t see this device in the US. What do you guys think of the Xiaomi Mi 5? Leave a comment!

HTC teases the One M10 and the ‘Power of 10′ on Twitter

Now that Samsung’s Galaxy S7 has been unveiled and LG has taken the wraps off the G5, HTC is waiting in the wings to garner some attention for its own upcoming flagship Android smartphone, which is expected to be called the One M10.

Leading up to that announcement, which HTC hasn’t even set a date for just yet, the manufacturer is taking to Twitter to start promoting a hashtag and teasing the upcoming device. In this case, we’ve got a silhouette of what is probably the One M10, but there’s not a lot to go on. It does look pretty sleek, though, for what it’s worth. Of course, it’s just a tease and there’s arguably not a lot to get excited about here, but at least HTC is starting to turn the gears.

The hashtag, “#powerof10″ will probably get bandied about quite a bit leading up to the announcement, and surely HTC has plenty more teases stored up in the days and weeks ahead.

Access to AMP webpages rolling out to Google Search

In today’s age of wanting instant access to everything, webpages that load slowly can be a real drag. In fact, people tend to leave sites that haven’t loaded in less than three seconds. Google is aiming to fix this with the Accelerated Mobile Pages Project.

AMP is an initiative to make fast loading mobile webpages. Many sites have joined the AMP project, and Google is starting to show these AMP pages in Google Search marked with a small thunderbolt and AMP logo.

These pages will load very quickly, or even instantly. They’re supposed to use 10 times less data than other sites, both saving you data and time. And with AMP sites showing at the top of web searches, you can scroll between these sites in the search results to get exactly the info you need.

This project is really good for everyone. Users get a better web experience, sites that take the initiative get more traffic, and Google gets more use. Let us know when you start seeing AMP pages show up in your search results!

Gmail adds Rich Text Formatting support and Instant RSVP

The Gmail team wants to help you manage your inbox, and tools will help you do just that, which is why new features manage to find their way into the Gmail app on a regular basis. The latest additions will help you get your point across and make it easier to accept calendar invitations.

The first part of the new update is support for Rich Text Formatting. With RTF support, users will be able to not only italicize text, but also bold it, underline it, highlight it, and color it if they so desire. This should help emphasize words to really drive home what you’re getting at. For mobile users, it’s a long time coming.

The second part of the update is support for “Instant RSVP,” which will allow you to simply tap a button to see your calendar and find out if you’re able to make it to an event. The new feature supports both Google Calendar and Microsoft Exchange.

El Galaxy S7 tiene la mejor pantalla del mundo actual

Para muchos el Samsung Galaxy S7 da un salto cualitativo con respecto a lo que Samsung lleva haciendo hasta ahora dentro de su gama. Sin embargo, más allá de los fans de la compañía que defienden todo lo que hace esté bien o mal, sí que es verdad que los sectores más críticos han reconocido los méritos a la empresa asiática que actualmente se encuentra en trance por las buenas críticas recibidas. Y es que no es para menos si tenemos en cuenta que el teléfono todavía no ha llegado al mercado y ya se le considera el mejor en algunos sentidos.

Quizás uno de los más importantes -sobre todo porque la mayoría de los fabricantes se encuentran actualmente intentando mejorar a este respecto- sea la pantalla. No son pocos los expertos que han reconocido que las características que tiene, y las que ofrece, el Samsung Galaxy S7 le convierten en el mejor terminal actual de todo el mercado por su propio display. ¿Suena bien para Samsung, no? En realidad la base de todas estas mejoras está relacionada con la tecnología OLED y los avances que ha hecho Samsung en ella.

Lo cierto es que para los expertos el modelo OLED será el que se imponga en los próximos años generando la sensación de victoria en las filas de la coreana por haber apostado por ella y lograr los mejores resultados posibles hasta la fecha en el Samsung Galaxy S7. Tanto es así que una de las empresas más importantes, el principal rival de Samsung y de Android, ya ha descartado el uso del LCD (la otra fórmula de tecnologías de pantallas) en el medio plazo. Así que sí Apple le da la razón a la coreana, todo aquel que se pase al OLED o se mantenga tendrá buena parte de la batalla de las mejores pantallas ya ganada.
