What Does Qualcomm’s Latest Licensing Deal With EWPE Imply?

Leading chipset maker, Qualcomm has recently entered into a patent licensing agreement with Chinese OEM – Zhuhai Ewpe Information Technology Inc. EWPE is a subsidiary of Gree Electrical Appliances Inc, a manufacturer of home electrical appliances. Gree, being a manufacturer of home electrical appliances, is expanding its reach to smart connected appliances that require wireless modems and radios for internet connectivity. Since Qualcomm holds a large number of standard essential patents in 3G and 4G LTE technologies, which are required for connectivity, Gree will have to pay royalties to Qualcomm for using these technologies in its devices. Verizon Is Preparing To Bid For Yahoo’s Internet Business. How Much Is It Worth?

As hacking has evolved into positively charged developer hackathons and web ‘mashup’ hacks, the term shook off much of its malevolent image. Bots have also grown up. Too long they have been associated with evil botnets and harmful web crawlers designed to inflict damage upon us, the users. Bots can also be good.

HTC 10 promo video leaks ahead of announcement

The HTC 10 is getting unveiled tomorrow, but why wait? You can watch a leaked promo video right now. The video doesn’t show what we didn’t already know (the design of the 10 has leaked many times before), still it gets up close and personal with the aluminum unibody of the upcoming flagship.

Recent teasers promise great battery life, amazing camera (perhaps including an OIS-enabled selfie camera) and more. The announcement will be tomorrow, but it’s going to get very late if you live east of the Atlantic so you may have to wait until Wednesday for the official deets.

NVIDIA Extends Their Datacenter Performance Lead In Neural Network Computing at #GTC16

At NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2016 in San Jose, California the company announced products based on their latest GPU architecture, code-named Pascal. This conference is traditionally attended by some of the leading researchers in GPU-accelerated compute technologies and over the past few years has become increasingly focused on Deep Neural Networks (DNN). DNNs are the latest key to artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive computing. Incredible strides have been made over the last three years in AI thanks to Graphics Processing Units (GPUs).
