Huawei anuncia el P9 Lite con chip Kirin 650 y escáner de huella dactilar
Volvemos a comentar una nueva noticia sobre Huawei después de la presentación ayer de los P9 y P9 Plus, y lo que ha sido esta mañana su nueva pulsera TalkBand 3. Con la intención de no desaprovechar la oportunidad que significa el revuelo levantado con el lanzamiento de su nuevo buque insignia, Huawei nos depara otra pequeña sorpresa hoy y esta es un nuevo anuncio de un nuevo terminal.
Hoy ha anunciado Huawei otro dispositivo de la serie P9 que se posiciona como parte de las intenciones de la compañía para llegar a otro tipo de usuarios que no quiere pasar a desembolsar tantos euros como ocurre con el Huawei P9. Ahora es el P9 Lite el que se ha hecho oficial desde Rusia y que posee algunas diferencias visibles como la desaparición del combo de cámara dual presente en el P9 y P9 Plus.
El Huawei P9 Lite se caracteriza por una pantalla de 5,2 pulgadas 1080p y funciona gracias al poder del procesador Kirin 640 que está diseñado por la propia Huawei y que integra un chip 64-bit octa-core. Tendrá dos variantes en la memoria RAM con 2/3 GB de RAM y lo que supone tener 16 GB de memoria interna, algo escaso para los días que tocan. Aunque eso sí, posee tarjeta microSD para ampliar la memoria hasta los 128GB.
El P9 Lite tiene una cámara trasera de 13 MP con flash LED, mientras que la cámara frontal tiene una de 8 MP. El dispositivo funciona con Android 6.0 Marshmallow con su propia capa EMUI 4.1. El dispositivo también ofrece al usuario escáner de huella dactilar, lleva una batería de 3.000 mAh y ofrece soporte a 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC y conexión USB Tipo- C.
De momento queda en misterio el precio para un dispositivo que llegará primero a Rusia en el mes de junio. Su disponibilidad internacional todavía queda por saber.

Reddit lanza su primera app oficial para Android e iOS
Después de estar unos cuantos meses en beta, finalmente se puede acceder a la instalación de la app oficial de Reddit. Aparte de servir para lo que es acceder a ese gran sitio web desde tu móvil, ésta también reemplazará a Alien Blue, la popular para terceros adquirida en 2015 tal como se anunció.
Con unas cuantas apps como Reddit is fun y otras tantas que sirven para entrar en este sitio web, Reddit se desmarca lanzando su propia app con una serie de características que la ponen como una de las mejores y el regalo que supone acceder de forma gratuita durante tres meses a Reddit Gold.
La nueva aplicación Reddit ofrece un buen número de características que se enfocan en diferenciarse del resto de clientes que hay ahora en el mercado. Se incluye la vista de tarjetas para mostrar el contenido multimedia que se ofrece desde esta web y que puede alternarse con el botón de “lectura rápida” para pasar a uno que no permita tanto detenerse en detalle.
Otras están destinadas a los fans de Reddit como es la capacidad para personalizar los subreddits. En esta app los moderadores podrán ser capaces para personalizar la forma en que sus subreddits aparecen ante los usuarios tal como puede pasar en la versión web. Otras de sus virtudes son su poco peso, algo que siempre se agradece.
Tampoco se tienen planes de restringir la comunidad de desarrolladores de apps de terceros y la idea es enfocarse en ofrecer una mejor experiencia en su propia audiencia. Por lo que esas dudas sobre las limitaciones para apps de terceros se despejan completamente.
La app se encuentra de forma gratuita desde la Play Store, lo único que todavía no está disponible en ciertas regiones. En el momento que podamos acceder a un APK actualizaré la entrada.

Huawei Honor 5C may launch next week with upgraded chipset
The Honor 5X will soon receive a more affordable sibling, the Huawei Honor 5C. The info is limited, but we’re looking at a brand new design and an upgraded chipset compared to its predecessor, the 4C.
The chipset will be a big upgrade – going from Kirin 620 to Kirin 950. That’s the same chipset that powers the Mate 8 and substitutes four of the CPU cores for powerful Cortex-A72s, not to mention the more powerful GPU.
The new chipset also brings LTE (which was omitted on the 4C). It’s speedy LTE Cat. 6 for up to 300Mbps downloads.

Huawei P9 benchmarked, Kirin 955 put to the test
The Huawei P9 is powered by an in-house Kirin 955 chipset. Not a full 10 more than the Kirin 950 inside the Mate 8, the designation leads you to believe than not much is changed, and that’s indeed the case.
The Kirin 955 SoC features an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at up to 2.5GHz (compared to the 2.3GHz of the Kirin 950’s), and four Cortex-A53 cores ticking at up to 1.8GHz (same as Kirin 950). The GPU is again a quad-core Mali-T880 MP4.

Can An Increase In Subscription Rates Impact Netflix’s Subscriber Growth?
In January this year, Netflix announced that it will be releasing a substantial number of its U.S. customers from price grandfathering on its HD plan. In May 2014, the company had increased its subscription charges, but grandfathered loyal customers allowing them to continue subscriptions at earlier rates for another two years. This grace period will expire in May 2016 for a significant number of consumers and they will have to start paying $2 more every month for their existing Netflix subscriptions. The company believes that given these members have been with Netflix for at least two years; the churn due to the increase in subscription charges thus should not be very high. As Netflix continues its focus on high quality original content and bandwidth-saving plans, it should be able to retain existing subscribers and acquire new subscribers. However, with Amazon Prime and YouTube Red introducing streaming services with increased focus on original content, competition for Netflix is intensifying, which could lead to slower subscriber growth in the U.S.
