Pebble Time and Time Round get permanent $50 price cuts
Today Pebble has announced some good news for prospective buyers of its smartwatches. Both the Time and the Time Round have received a permanent $50 price cut.
This means the official price for the Pebble Time is now $149.99, whereas the Pebble Time Round is now sold for $199.99. Sure, we’ve seen them going for even less from time to time, but this is no limited-time offer or anything like that.
Pricing has changed in the Eurozone as well, where the Time is now listed for 169.95, and the Time Round goes for 229.95. In the UK, the Pebble Time now costs £149.99, while the Time Round is £179.99.
If you placed an order for one of these two smartwatches (on pebble.com) on or after January 21, and paid the old prices, you’ll be refunded the difference if you contact the company. Full instructions for this are available at the Source link…

Huawei starting Marshmallow rollout for Huawei Watch today
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout has been slow for Android Wear. Some devices have received it — the original Moto 360 being one of them — but many more modern devices are still waiting. Thankfully, Huawei announced that its smartwatch is going to be getting the update today.
The Huawei Watch has a built-in speaker that has been dormant until now. The Marshmallow update will enable it, making this a huge update for this watch. The update also features new gestures, an updated Do Not Disturb mode, and more, but I suspect people will mostly be excited about the speaker.
If you want to check for updates, go to Settings > About > System updates and check to see if you got it. If not, you may have to wait a while for the rollout to reach you. Let us know when you get the update!

Huawei P9 and its dual-camera setup get revealed in new photos
Huawei has a new flagship on the way, and with it, the company is looking to make the market interesting.
Thanks to VentureBeat, we’re getting a look at the Huawei-branded P9, a device that offers plenty of specifications under the hood and a sleek design. If the photos are indeed of the P9, then we’re looking at a metal phone — par for the course these days — with a design that offers a 5.2-inch 1080p HD display. Under the hood is said to be an octa-core Kirin 950 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. On the back there’s a fingerprint sensor, and the battery is said to be measured in at 3900mAh. As far as the software goes, it’s said to be running Android 6.0.1.
Huawei did offer a dual-camera setup back in 2014 with the Honor 6 Plus, and the company is bringing the feature back with the P9. This time around, though, the two cameras on the back are said to be 12-megapixel shooters. Unfortunately, there’s no word on what the front-facing camera offers at the moment.
The report indicates that the P9 could see an official debut sometime in the second quarter of 2016, which is right around the corner at this point. As to where it will be available and how much it will cost, those facts remain a mystery.

Apricity OS Cinnamon Edition, el poder de Arch Linux con el diseño y agilidad de Cinnamon
La variedad de posibilidades que entrega GNU/Linux como plataforma permite que en forma continua podamos tener acceso a nuevos e interesantes proyectos, todos ellos con muy buena pinta y perspectivas. Como es el caso de Apricity OS, una distro basada en Arch Linux pero con una vuelta de tuerca para ofrecer algo interesante. Y hace un par de días llegó su versión basada en el escritorio Cinnamon, el mismo que surgió desde Linux Mint pero que como bien sabemos puede ser instalado en forma relativamente sencilla en cualquier otra distro.
Los usuarios de una distro como Arch Linux saben bien lo que esta puede ofrecerles, y es que se trata de uno de esos proyectos que está siempre a la vanguardia, en el límite entre los estable y lo novedoso (de acuerdo a muchos, un poco hacia este último y dejando un poco de lado lo primero). Si a ello le sumamos un entorno como Cinnamon, que siempre ha destacado por mantener el esquema clásico de los escritorios pero ofreciendo un diseño bastante interesante y un rendimiento destacado, claramente tenemos una distro que va a dar que hablar, como parece ser el caso de Apricity OS Cinnamon Edition.
Entre los aspectos característicos que nos ofrece contamos con ICE, un motor SSB (Site Specific Browser), que nos permite ejecutar web apps en el escritorio y de acuerdo a palabras de sus desarrolladores nos permite un rendimiento óptimo a la vez que se conjuga la web y el escritorio en un único espacio en el cual los usuarios pueden disfrutar de todo aquello que necesitan en sus actividades diarias. Otro punto destacado llega con la integración por defecto de TLP, la herramienta de gestión avanzada de batería, que cual combinada con optimizaciones de uso de memoria y recursos da por resultado un rendimiento y duración de batería promisorio.
Hablando de aspectos positivos no podemos dejar de lado la integración con Pushbullet, habiendo conocido todo lo bueno que tiene para ofrecernos en el uso de nuestro móvil desde la comodidad del escritorio, y siempre en pos de la comodidad y simplicidad también podemos mencionar que Apricity OS Cinnamon Edition integra por defecto a Wine y PlayOnLinux. Luego, en lo referente al diseño han creado su propio tema para Cinnamon (que luce excelente gracias al soporte para pantallas HiDPI), e integran el kernel de Linux 4.4.1 junto con los infaltables clásicos como Firefox, Google Chrome, LibreOffice, Rhythmbox o GIMP.
En suma, estamos ante una distro que se ofrece como una alternativa interesante para quienes buscan rendimiento y diseño, con beneficios como traer integradas varias herramientas de esas que siempre se necesitan cuando se trata de dar el salto desde Windows, algo además reforzado por la utilización de un instalador como Calamares 2.0 (recientemente lanzado).

LibreOffice ahora tiene menús nativos GTK+ 3
La famosa suite ofimática LibreOffice, ahora también tiene menús nativos GTK+ 3. El grupo de desarrolladores de LibreOffice están haciendo muchos progresos últimamente y centrarndose en la interfaz gráfica de la suite, uno de los avances que hemos podido conocer es sobre los menús GTK+ 3. Así se podrá integrar mejor la suite en modernos equipos con escritorios más actuales y sobre todo pensando en el servidor gráfico Wayland. Como bien han informado sus desarrolladores, GTK+ 3 ya está integrado de forma nativa en los menús de LibreOffice.
Por tanto, la última versión en desarrollo de LibreOffice tendrá soporte nativo para menús y barras de menús nativos en GTK+ 3. Con ello se da un gran e importante paso en cuanto a aspecto, ya que estos nuevos menús se verán mucho mejor que los anteriores, además del apartado estético, puedes encontrar otras mejoras en el blog oficial del desarrollador Caolan McNamara, lider del proyecto para el soporte de GTK+ 3 en la suite de la Document Foundation.
Ya informamos en este blog de que LibreOffice había mejorado su entorno gráfico y menús en su última versión. Además, dotar de un aspecto más moderno y similar al de Microsoft Office era una prioridad para la Document Foundation, que centrará sus esfuerzos de desarrollo para que la vieja y anticuada interfaz de LibreOffice sea renovada para una mejor experiencia y usabilidad. Seguirán las mejoras en el aspecto estético y gráfico, un ejemplo de ello es este nuevo paso integrando soporte total para GTK+ 3, pero vendrán más y mejores.
Para los que no sepan de Wayland y GTK+ 3, decir que Wayland es el servidor gráfico que pretende sustituir al viejo X11 que ahora da vida a muchos entornos de escritorio. Además, GTK+ 3 es una biblioteca de objetos y funciones gráficas que permite dotar de ventanas, botones, menús, deslizadores, pestañas, widgets, etc. Y que ahora llega a la versión GTK+ 3, sobre la que se apoya Wayland.
