Honor 7 se actualiza al fin a Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Hoy en día la gama media-alta en Android está dominada por el mercado asiático, gracias a sus especificaciones a la altura pero con un precio moderado. Aún así, las malas lenguas hablan sobre la falta de respaldo de estas firmas respecto estos terminales, sobretodo con la ausencia de servicio técnico, garantías y actualizaciones. Sin embargo, hoy nos llega una buena noticia precisamente sobre una de estas firmas, Honor, responsable de dispositivos más o menos populares en España como su último Honor 5X, el cual acabamos de analizar, o su anterior Honor 7, el cual dentro de poco gozará de Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Actualización para el Honor 7 a Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Tras ser probado y experimentado por sus betatesters, Honor por fin se ha decido por llevar a todo el mundo su actualización a Android 6.0 en sus Honor 7, un terminal que salió a la venta en junio de 2015 con Android 5.0 Lollipop a un precio de 364 euros.

Siguiendo las líneas de Honor, este terminal sorprendía por su aspecto físico, a menudo descuidado en estos dispositivos chinos de gama media-alta, y por incorporar el mejor lector de huellas en esos momentos. Por otro lado, el Honor 7 también se defendía con el resto de especificaciones, como su cámara de 20 megapíxeles. Aquí vemos todas sus características:

Como podemos ver, un móvil más que capaz de soportar Android 6.0 Marshmallow sin problemas, por lo que su actualización no tendría que llevar ningún problema, o al menos así lo aseguran desde Honor, el cual ha publicado esta noticia hoy mismo a través de un tweet:

Por lo tanto, todos esos usuarios de un Honor 7 empezarán a recibir la actualización por OTA de Android 6.0 Marshmallow antes de que termine este mes, concretamente, en dos semanas, en un principio. En conclusión, ¡se acabó la espera y las betas de Android 6.0 para todos aquellos con un Honor 7!

Apple is aware of the January 1970 date bug that bricks iPhones, will fix it in a future update

A couple of days ago news emerged about an odd but deadly bug for 64-bit iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch units – setting your date to January 1, 1970 and then restarting the device will result in a pretty much unfixable bootloop. If you do this for whatever reason, you’ll need to visit your local Apple Store to fix the problem, because you won’t be able to get rid of it at home.

Now after the Internet was filled with people being generally angry about all this, as well as others, amazingly, trying it even after they knew the consequences, Apple has acknowledged the existence of the bug. The company promises to fix it as soon as possible and incorporate that fix in a future software update that will go out to all affected devices. A timeline for that rollout hasn’t been provided unfortunately.

Apparently you don’t even have to set the date to precisely January 1, 1970, for the bug to do its magic – any date prior to June 1, 1970 will work. Obviously the big mystery here remains why anyone would do something like this and change the date to one from 1970. To top it all off, people have reportedly been going to Apple Stores and changing dates on the demo devices on display there, with the sole intent of bricking them.

Lenovo will unveil international expansion plans for the Lemon 3 at MWC

Lenovo introduced the Lemon 3 smartphone for the Chinese market last month. So far it hasn’t been launched elsewhere, but that’s set to change soon.

The company is now teasing the unveiling of a new device at MWC in Barcelona next week, and the handset in question looks exactly like the Lemon 3.

So this means we’ll soon see it becoming available in other countries, probably starting with India – because the teaser image you can see above has originated at Lenovo’s official Twitter account for the subcontinent.

The Lemon 3 is basically Lenovo’s competitor for the Xiaomi Redmi 3. It’s even priced the same at around $100, so it’s incredibly affordable. That said, it doesn’t necessarily disappoint in the specs department.

It’s got a metal construction and features a 5-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 5 MP selfie shooter, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 SoC at the helm (with a 1.5 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, LTE support, dual-SIM functionality, and a 2,750 mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Huawei might announce Matebook hybrid laptop at MWC

Huawei is holding a special event in Barcelona this coming Sunday, on February 21, as are many other companies. Yet it’s still unclear what Huawei is going to announce on the eve of MWC.

That said, one possibility could be a hybrid laptop. With a stylus. This has been rumored before, and it will apparently be called Huawei Matebook. Richard Yu, the Chinese company’s CEO, has published the invite you can see below on his Weibo account.

That stylus can’t be part of the package for a high-end phablet, since the Mate 8 has been unveiled only around three months ago. So given the past mumblings about the Matebook having both a detachable touchscreen and a stylus, it would make most sense for it to be the product under the spotlight at MWC.

The Matebook will allegedly come with a 12.9-inch display, an Intel processor, Windows 10 on board, a focus on business customers (which once again fits well with the teaser above), and premium pricing.

SuSE, la compañía alemana encargada del desarrollo de la famosa distribución SuSE Linux, pone en marcha un encuentro para expertos denominado SUSE Expert Days que se celebrará en Madrid y Barcelona. El evento tendrá lugar los próximos días 16 y 18 de febrero, donde los profesionales del sector tecnológico podrán asistir a demostraciones de sus propuestas de código abierto para empresas bajo SUSE y asistir a charlas.

SUSE Expert Days tendrá lugar el día 16 de febrero en Madrid y el 18 de febrero en Barcelona. Un exclusivo evento que no te podrás perder, donde podrás asistir a interesantes charlas, ver las últimas innovaciones de SUSE y ver demostraciones de productos profesionales para el sector empresarial en campos como Data Center, contenedores, administración de recursos a través de SUSE OpenStack Cloud y almacenamiento con SUSE Storage.

Para los interesados, el 16 de febrero en Madrid, se podrá asistir al acto en el Salón de Actos del Real Jardín Botáncio (Plaza de Murillo 2) a partir de las 9 de la mañana. From ‘The Walking Dead’ To ‘Life is Strange,’ Episodic Games Keep Losing Me

Telltale Games just debuted a new six-minute intro to The Walking Dead: Michonne, their new story-based game set in the comic Walking Dead universe. It looks cool, and is on the shorter side, only three episodes, but it made me think about how much I’ve grown to dislike this current trend of episodic gaming.
