Harbisson has been claimed to be the first recognized cyborg in the world, as his passport photo now includes his device.

Thanks to devices like the Fujitsu Arrows NX F-04G and the vivo X5 Pro, iris recognition seems to be becoming trendy once again. In fact, the technology was quite a buzzword last year and rumors were floating around of the LG G3 and Galaxy S5, flagships at the time, making use of the extra security feature.
Obviously, this didn't come to pass, but, the rumors have been rekindled and industry sources now claim that both major Korean players are already working on their respective solutions for bringing iris recognition to their handsets. Rumors even go beyond, claiming that we could see such tech as early as next year's lineup.
None of this is officially confirmed, but it could, be true, as the aforementioned Fujitsu did make a lot of headlines, solely because of employing the new tech. Both Samsung and LG have to stay trendy and relevant on the extremely dynamic mobile market and if iris recognition is the next gimmick to start a craze, neither can afford to be late to the show.
As far as practicality and usability goes, we are not quite sure if those are currently the main reason for working on iris recognition for mobile devices. Security might be, but only to some extent. It is doubtful whether the new sensor will do a better job at protecting our privacy than the fingerprint readers, which only recently appeared on smartphones in a wave of their own. Let's just admit it – we want to look and feel as cool as possible when using our shiny new phones an iris recognition seems like a perfect new toy to play with. Frankly, however, there is nothing really wrong with this mindset, as it opens the way for even wilder innovations and awesome tech.

Enviar un archivo o incluso toda una carpeta a otros con Dropbox es bastante simple de hacer. Pero la cosa se complica si queremos hacer justo al revés, lo que sería “recoger” archivos desde otras personas, para por ejemplo, cargar en una misma carpeta las fotografías que se hayan tomado en el bautizo de nuestro sobrino.
Por esto mismo Dropbox ha introducido una nueva característica con un nombre bastante particular: solicitudes de archivos. Esta nueva funcionalidad de Dropbox permite “solicitar archivos” de tal forma que cualquier usuario puede enviar imágenes, vídeos o archivos a una determinada carpeta que hayamos seleccionado. Creada la solicitud podemos enviar el enlace creado a cualquier usuario que queramos o mismamente suministrar una serie de emails a Dropbox para que el mismo se encargue de contactar con ellos. De esta forma tendremos una carpeta en Dropbox a la que nuestros contactos o amigos podrán acceder subiendo directamente archivos, incluso sin tener cuenta en Dropbox.
Un proceso bien simple y que prácticamente es enviar virtualmente un archivo a una solicitud, en este caso una carpeta, y ya sea para un trabajo de la universidad, fotografías de la fiesta de cumpleaños de nuestro hijo o la solicitud para una prueba determinada para un empleo. Las posibilidades se abren con esta característica y eso sí, deberemos de tener el espacio suficiente de almacenamiento para que no se nos llene así de repente.
Una de las mayores virtudes de esta nueva funcionalidad es que el usuario que cargue archivos a una carpeta determinada en una solicitud, no necesitará tener una cuenta de Dropbox. Al utilizar el enlace compartido el usuario podrá cargarlo en una interfaz web para ir añadiendo los archivos.
Para que todo sea más fácil, incluso Dropbox ofrece una herramienta de gestión de todas las solicitudes para así conocer el estado de cada una. Desde esta herramienta web podemos cerrar la solicitud, crear nuevas y editar las ya existentes.
Esta funcionalidad abre las puertas a un buen sin fin de posibilidades. Desde guardar los adjuntos de emails para tenerlos ordenados en una carpeta específica, compartir el enlace entre un grupo de trabajo para que todos puedan subir las imágenes captadas en cierto evento, o mismamente en una boda, compartir el enlace a través da WhatsApp para que todos los asistentes puedan cargar sus fotos y tenerlas todas bien dispuestas en una misma carpeta.
La solicitud de archivo reduce el uso de carpetas compartidas para ciertos fines, y en definitiva, una de las mejores novedades con las que contamos desde Dropbox desde hace un poco de tiempo.
Antes de marchar, comentar que la solicitud de archivos ofrece soporte a cualquier tipo de archivo y acepta los que tienen un tamaño de hasta 2 GB. Y como he mencionado anteriormente, recordad que esos archivos que vayan cargando se irán sumando a la cuota que tengáis en Dropbox, por lo que si suben mucho seguramente que os quedéis sin espacio.
Lo dicho, una estupenda característica que se inaugura hoy mismo desde dropbox/requests, y que es en si una gran idea para utilizarla según sean nuestras necesidades. Como podéis comprobar en poco tiempo podemos encontrar un uso bastante interesante, así que ahora todas las fotos de la boda de vuestro primo o las del cumpleaños del nene pueden estar en una misma carpeta con todos los contactos subiéndolas.

Chinese manufacturers have really been setting the bar high with entry-level headsets recently. Customers are now spoiled for choice as devices such as the Xiaomi Mi 4i, Redmi 2, and Redmi 1S bring modern smartphone features on the cheap. The Meizu m1 is another prime example of this class of devices and its successor, the Meizu M2 promises to be even better.
The said phone was recently spotted in a TENAA certification entry, meaning that it is already on its way to consumer markets. It is hard to say how far along it is in the development process, but, considering the company has set an event for June 30, it might be just around the corner. The m2 note was released not long ago with a price tag of about $200. The naming similarity is no coincidence, as the new Meizu phone takes after its note sibling visually.
The shape of the device is almost identical and so are the controls, down to the physical home button on the front, in place of the once signature circle. It is, however, slightly smaller and measures 140.1×68.9×8.7 mm. The display is 5.0 inches in diagonal and only offers 720p resolution, but, some sacrifices must be made to keep the price down. It does come with two SIM slots.
Under the hood, there is a 64-bit MT6735 SoC with quad-core CPU, which boasts an extensive list of network connectivity options, including dual standby with 4G LTE.
The rest of the specs sheet looks pretty good for a budget device. The m2 packs 2GB of RAM and a 2,700mAh battery. The camera setup consists of a 13MP shooter on the back and a 5MP one on the front.
The phone should boot Android 5.0.1 out-of-the-box. We are yet to hear anything on pricing and availability, though.
Come June 30, we will hopefully have more info on the Meizu M2. Still, there is the possibility that the said event is organized for the company's 2015 flagship – the MX5. Either way, we will keep a close eye on the announcements.
