The topic for this week is Resource Packs, Custom Models, and Skins.

It's been over a year since we last discussed this, and there has been a lot of activity in this area. So let's hear all about the tools, techniques and resources for building custom models, resource packs, and skins. Post your questions, show off your creations, recommend the best guides and tutorials.

What is this?

Every week(-ish) a new thread will be posted and stickied by /u/AutoModerator. Topics will usually cover things that, if posted on their own, would receive little attention and clutter up /new. By bringing these threads together, we hope everybody has a better experience. We've come up with a few topics on our own, but we'd also like feedback from you. Are there any other topics you'd like to see added to the rotation?

Just a question out of curiosity: If you could implement any small change to vanilla Minecraft, what would it be? Looking for things that would generally improve the game in your opinion, but not drastically change it.

I'll start off with a few:

• Feathers should burn as a smelting fuel.
• Flaming arrows should give off light like a torch when stuck in a block.
• A hand-held torch or lantern (works well for the shield slot).
• A powered redstone clock block (give off output every X ticks, greatly simplifying a number of contraptions) – though admittedly that might not be a small change
• And as always comes up eventually, Slabs and stairs for granite, diorite and andesite

(A note on self advertising… I didnt make this. /u/Vaskii did. I just stumbled upon it recently and figured many of you would enjoy a mod like this.)

This mod can help some of you vanilla folk with servers.

Tp be fair, vanilla servers are sad. Many of them spam you with "Donate now! Sibscribe to Patreon! Buy Ranks!" Every few minutes. Its annoying, its commonplace, and it really sucks. Thats whers this mod kicks in.

Simply put, its a filter. It will find keywords in chat, and alter them based on rules you add. Some simple examples are included in the mod.

Say a server has a message that pops up, listing Patreon subs? Add the word "Patreon" to ths filter, and have it mute the message. And like magic, that message wont appear anymore for you.

Wanna make colored Rank-tags go away? Get rid of their formatting and keep the rest of the message! Players can still speak, and nobody appears special.

It has other uses, too. But for vanilla servers this is an INCREDIBLY usefull mod. Thanks Vaskii.
