Twitter confirms buyout story was hoax

Just a day after a report claiming that Twitter received a $31 billion buyout offer hit the headlines, the micro-blogging company has confirmed that the story is fake. Interestingly, the report led to the company's share price increasing by 8%, although it closed up only 2.6% after the dust settled.

If you aren't in the know, the report was published on a site named bloomberg.market (its account has since been suspended), which looked like a Bloomberg website. This made the story look legit, at-least at the first glance. A Bloomberg spokesperson, however, later confirmed that the story was "fake and appeared on a bogus website."

Incidentally, all this happened just over a month after former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo decided to step down from his position amid mounting concerns over slow user growth.

Early image captured using OnePlus 2 appears online

An image captured using the upcoming OnePlus 2 smartphone made the rounds on Twitter, courtesy of @MKBHD. The successor of OnePlus One will make its official debut later this month, on July 27 in virtual reality.

The photo sports a resolution of 4160 x 3120 pixels, this pointing at a 13MP camera sensor. The camera has f/2.0 aperture, which doesn't quite match the f/1.9 in the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and f/1.8 in the LG G4. The device used to capture this camera is the ONE A2001 variant.

OnePlus 2 is confirmed to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 mobile chipset with Adreno 430 GPU, and 4GB of RAM. A fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C are also going to be on board. OnePlus 2 will have a sub-$450 price tag when it…

ZTE Axon gets official for the US with top specs, $449.98 price tag

The wait is over, ZTE has taken the wraps off its new high-end device. It's called Axon, and it was apparently designed in the US, with the US market in mind.

ZTE will sell the Axon unlocked for $449.98 (without tax). What you get for that amount of cash is quite a bit of smartphone, so to speak.

The Axon has a 5.5-inch QHD LCD touchscreen, a dual rear camera (13 MP + 2 MP) with dual-LED flash and 4K video capture, an 8 MP selfie camera, a whopping 4GB of RAM, as well as 32GB of of non-expandable storage.

Running the show is the well known Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, boasting a 2 GHz octa-core CPU in ARM's big.LITTLE configuration. The Axon has a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery (with quick charge support) and it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, an almost stock version.

It has a metallic body, Hi-Fi audio playback of 32-bit 192KHz audio files, and (obviously) 4G LTE support.

It will be available in Ion Gold, Chromium Silver, and Phthalo Blue. You can already pre-order it from ZTE and get a free TPU case and a pair of JBL earbuds (which are a $49.99 value). Pre-orders should also be available at Amazon, Newegg, and eBay shortly. There's no information about a shipping date…

Samsung tipped to unveil Note 5 and S6 edge Plus on August 12

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 5 on August 12, according to a new report, which also says that the device will be accompanied by the Galaxy S6 edge Plus smartphone, which will be launched as Galaxy S6 edge+. Both devices will go on sale beginning August 21.

The report also reveals some interesting details about the devices. It says the Galaxy Note 5 won't feature a microSD slot. And in terms of design, the handset will be what it calls a "blown-up version" of the company's Galaxy S6 flagship, but with an extremely thin screen bezel. The device will be available in silver, gold, black, and white color options.

In addition, the report notes that the S Pen will also undergo some design changes, making it look more like a pen. Also, it will be of the same color as the handset.

As for the S6 edge Plus, the report says that the phablet will be powered by an Exynos 7420 SoC instead of a Snapdragon 808 chipset as was being rumoured earlier. It will come with 3GB RAM.

Last but not the least, the report also says that the South Korean company will also launch its mobile payments service Samsung Pay in the US on August…
