LG G Flex 3 rumored to sport Snapdragon 820, QHD screen

This year's LG G Flex2 will surely get a successor in 2016, and interestingly enough there's already a rumor out revealing its most important specs.

According to an anonymous source, the G Flex 3 should be announced in March of next year. The handset will sport a 6-inch QHD touchscreen, and a metal construction.

It will be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 820 chipset, aided by 4GB of RAM. There will be 32GB of expandable storage inside, while in the camera department we should see a 20.7 MP main unit as well as an 8 MP front-facing one for selfies.

Oh, and the G Flex 3 will also apparently come with a fingerprint scanner embedded in its power button. The leak doesn't tell us if it will keep the button arrangement of its predecessor (pictured above), which has all of its controls on the back.

Since we're about seven months away from the claimed unveiling of the G Flex 3, it goes without saying that all of this may just be conjecture, or simply made up by someone with too much time on their hands. If any of these specs turn out to be true with regard to the G Flex 3, expect to hear more about them in the coming…

Google Now on Android lets you speak your WhatsApp or Viber messages

Ever since it launched on Android, Google Now has allowed you to send texts with your voice. But so far this has used Hangouts, Google's default texting application on Android. Up until today you have not been able to use Google Now's voice recognition features to send messages to your contacts on WhatsApp, Viber, or other third-party apps.

Now though you can do just that. The new feature currently works with WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, Telegram, and NextPlus.

To send a message in one of these apps by using your voice, simply say something like "OK Google, send a WhatsApp message to Joe" – after which you will be asked to dictate the contents of that message.

Like all Google Now features, this will work from your home screen if you have listening activated. Alternatively, you can just hop into the Google app and start speaking, or use the Google Now shortcut if you have an Android device with software-rendered buttons.

The new functionality is available right now in English only, but thankfully isn't limited to users in the US. Google promises it will add support for more apps and languages in the…

Qualcomm’s WiPower brings wireless charging to devices with metal backs

Wireless charging has certainly started to pick up steam recently, with even Samsung putting out flagship smartphones using the tech. There's been just one problem, however: so far no one figured out how to make wireless charging work nicely with devices with metal backs.

This is why the phones that have wireless charging built-in have backs made out of glass or plastic. And this is why devices sporting metal unibody constructions have not been able to add this feature yet.

But that's all set to change, since today Qualcomm has announced that it's managed to make wireless charging work for devices with metal backs, without the need for any additional cases.

Qualcomm's wireless charging tech is called WiPower, and the company promises it will be compatible with the Rezence standard. Mobile device manufacturers will be able to incorporate WiPower in their metal products in the future. The required techniques and reference designs have been made available to Qualcomm's partners today.

With the growing trend of using metal in smartphone construction, this is certainly good news – and could help wireless charging be picked up even more by future handsets. Qualcomm hasn't gone into details about how it all works, sticking to the promo video you can see above for now. But the important thing here is that it works.

It's also good to note that WiPower allows devices to be charged wirelessly without the need for precise alignment or even direct physical contact between the charger and the product it's charging. Furthermore, the technology enables simultaneous charging of multiple devices.

Huawei Honor 7 launches in the UK on August 27

Huawei unveiled the Honor 7 at the end of June, and it's so far been available to buy only in China. But that's set to change next month, when the affordable smartphone is due to make it to the UK.

A few weeks back Huawei released a promo video for the Honor 7 in which it basically confirmed that it would sell the handset in Europe eventually. And now we know when the Honor 7 will be offered outside of China.

The Honor 7 will get a special launch event in the UK on August 27. It might become available soon after that, certainly in unlocked and SIM-free form (as has been the case with previous Honor-branded devices).

The phone features an aluminum alloy construction and comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 20 MP rear camera, an 8 MP selfie shooter, 3GB of RAM, 16 or 64GB of expandable storage, and a 3,100 mAh battery. It's powered by Huawei's own Kirin 935 SoC, with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, with the Chinese company's Emotion UI 3.1 on…

See the Moto G (3rd gen) go underwater

Just a few hours ago Motorola finally made the Moto G (3rd gen) official. It comes with quite a few updates compared to its predecessor, but one of the most notable new things is its IPx7 certification for water resistance.

This is a first for the Moto G line, and it means the phone should withstand being submerged into up to 1m of water for up to 30 minutes without a worry. If you're wondering what actually happens when the new Moto G goes underwater, have a look at the video below.

Unsurprisingly, the device continues to work even when submerged in water, just as it should. This feature isn't something you see often in this price range, so it's very good to have. On the other hand, remember that the Moto G (3rd gen) does not come with an assorted IP rating for dust resistance, which means it may not be able to withstand dust as well as it does water. That's something to keep in mind.

If you can't already order a new Moto G, you'll be able to do so before the end of the day, at least in certain markets such as the US, the UK, and…

Motorola also outs Moto Pulse and Moto Surround wireless headphones

The Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and Moto G (3rd gen) aren't the only things that Motorola has unveiled today during its special event. We've also been treated to a couple of new accessories.

They are the Moto Pulse and Moto Surround. They're both wireless headphones, but as you'll see, they differ in form.

The Moto Pulse comes with an on-ear design, sporting 40mm speaker drivers and up to 18 hours of playtime. The ear cups rotate and fold for easy storage. It has a built-in microphone so you can take calls too.

As you'd expect, the Pulse connects to mobile devices via Bluetooth, version 4.1 to be specific. So it's compatible with any phone or tablet out there. It can be paired with two devices simultaneously. Motorola claims its 60ft range is twice as much as the standard range of competing products.

The Moto Pulse is available to order now from Motorola's website, in black or "chalk", for $59.99.

On the other hand, the Moto Surround is comprised of a pair of earbuds attached to a plastic collar that you're supposed to wear around your neck. That's where all the electronics are, obviously.

The Moto Surround supports the aptX codec for HD sound, and it features customizable sound profiles. It can take water or sweat without an issue, and it has operating buttons on the collar. This vibrates to notify you when a call is coming in, and the Surround comes with a built-in microphone and talk button.

As for battery life, Motorola says you should expect to get 12 hours of uninterrupted playback from this accessory, or 15 hours of talk time. And its Bluetooth range is apparently 150 feet. Like its on-ear sibling, the Surround can be paired to two devices at the same time.

The Moto Surround can also be bought from Motorola's website for $69.99. It's offered in black & blue or black & charcoal. The Motorola Connect Android app works with both headphone models and shows you remaining battery life, as well as where you last connected them to your mobile…

Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen) promo videos appear

Motorola just announced the latest installment in its budget Moto G lineup and as tradition dictates, it launched a trio of promo videos to go with it.

The main clip is dubbed "The Phone that's Always There for You" the video does a good job of summing up the handset's key selling points – IPx7 water resistance, 13MP camera, all-day battery life and pure Android experience.

The 4G LTE support and 5" 720p display also get a mention, although neither of those is a first for the lineup.

There's also a second video that helps you keep your Moto G waterproof, reminding you to keep all of its protective caps closed.

The final clip sheds further light on the water resistance of the handset, specifying the kind of accidents it can survive.

If you think you missed anything about the Moto G (3rd gen) you should check out our announcement news and specs page. Also stay tuned as a hands-on with live photos and first hand impressions is about to hit our homepage…
