iPad Pro will be available at T-Mobile starting on November 18

The iPad Pro went on sale today in a few dozen countries, with shipping set to start in a few days. But what if you want to purchase the huge tablet from a US carrier?

Well, T-Mobile has just announced its plans regarding the iPad Pro. The magenta carrier will have the device available in participating stores as well as online starting on November 18, which is precisely one week from now.

What’s more, the iPad Pro will be offered through T-Mobile’s Jump On Demand plan, which lets you upgrade to any future iPad of your choice without paying any upgrade fees.

Unfortunately though, T-Mobile has so far stayed mum on the pricing details for the iPad Pro. Hopefully that information will come out soon. Just as a reminder, buying the unlocked 4G LTE-capable model of the iPad Pro from Apple will set you back $1,079. That’s probably what T-Mobile’s full retail price for it will be…

Logitech releases backlit keyboard case for the iPad Pro along with another protective case

Right on time for the release of the iPad Pro today, Logitech has launched a couple of cases custom-made for Apple’s newest tablet.

The most interesting is perhaps the Logi Create Backlit Keyboard Case with Smart Connector. Just as its incredibly long name implies, this is an iPad Pro case that comes with a backlit keyboard. It has actual independent keys, and is full size according to its maker. It certainly looks a lot more like a laptop keyboard than Apple’s Smart Keyboard for the iPad Pro.

It’s also cheaper than Apple’s offering, coming in at $149.99 (so $20 less than the Smart Keyboard). The Logi Create Keyboard Case for the iPad Pro connects to the tablet through the Smart Connector, which means that it automatically turns on when placed in the typing position, without the need for Bluetooth pairing. Furthermore, the keyboard doesn’t need to be charged, since it’s powered by the iPad.

The $79.99 Logi Create Protective Case with Any-Angle Stand is the cheaper option for those who don’t need to attach a keyboard to the iPad Pro. This is yet another Logitech product with a self-describing name. It’s a case that should protect your tablet. It has a stand that can adjust to any position within a 60-degree range. And it holds the iPad in position no matter what.

Both cases use water-repellant materials, and protect from accidental bumps, scratches, and spills, while keeping all the ports…

Samsung Galaxy S7 announcement will be on February 21, rumor says

Will the Samsung Galaxy S7 be unveiled sooner than its predecessor was, as countless rumors have said over the past few weeks? That’s one of the big questions in the mobile world today. Yet if we’re to go by a new rumor, the answer to it could be both yes and no.

So let’s try this again. Will the Galaxy S7 be outed sooner than the S6? Well, yes, but not by much. See, the S6 pair was made official at an event on March 1, 2015, while the S7 (and S7 edge probably) are apparently due to be unveiled on February 21, 2016. So technically yes, it will be an earlier presentation, but only by eight days.

Oh, and the new timing only has to do with the scheduling of the Mobile World Congress, which next year starts on February 22 in Barcelona. This year it started on March 2. See a pattern? Yes, Samsung likes to hold its big event on the eve of MWC, so to speak, which is reportedly just what it will do in 2016 as well.

All of this information is said to come from “a tipster that has been right many times in the past”, so perhaps he’s right about this one too. Obviously though you shouldn’t take this for granted, at least not until Samsung makes the date of its event official.

Someone ported Marshmallow to run on the Nexus S

A developer called Dmitry Grinberg, has ported Marshmallow to run on the Samsung-built Nexus S. He made a post explaining how he was able to build the software to run on outdated hardware.

The Nexus S has a 1Ghz Qualcomm Hummingbird processor, 1GB of system partition (which was separate from the userdata partition), and 512MB of RAM – all of which presented as obstacles to supporting Marshmallow.

Android phones today share the total internal storage partition with apps and files. Early versions of Android had two different partitions for storing apps (system) and storing photos (userdata). This meant that while your phone had 16GB of storage, you only had more or less 1GB to store firmware and apps. The memory and storage partitions have come a long way since then.

The ART runtime also was an obstacle since it kept timing out upon installation of apps (Facebook, in particular, was taking too long to compile and timing out). Grinberg also provided patches to increase the ART runtime timeout and graphics language.

Grinberg provides flashable ZIPs for those who want to experience Marshmallow on a 5 year old Nexus. Sensors, NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth, camera, GPS, cellular, and recovery were tested and working on these…

Galaxy A9 receives Bluetooth certification, could launch soon

Samsung is planning on adding a new member to its metal-clad Galaxy A line very soon, it seems. This will be called Galaxy A9 and will probably be the highest-end offering to ever be part of the A series.

So far the Galaxy A9 has been spotted in not one, but two benchmarks, having had some of its specs revealed in the process. It’s also been seen in an Indian import listing recently. And now the phone has received its first certification.

The Bluetooth SIG has done the deed and put its stamp of approval on the upcoming Galaxy A9 (model number SM-A9000). Since this has happened, we expect the handset to get more certifications in the near future. And as this process has started already, we may see the A9 becoming official soon, perhaps before the end of the year.

Previously leaked specs for the Galaxy A9 include a 5.5-inch or 6-inch 1080p HD touchscreen, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 chipset running things. This one comes with an octa-core CPU sporting four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at up to 1.8 GHz and four 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. The GPU is the Adreno 510, and the SoC has support for Cat.7 LTE, with peak downloads of 300Mbps and uploads of up to 100Mbps. The phone should land with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on board, with a Marshmallow update on the way.

Facebook launches Notify for iOS, an app that delivers notifications for things you care about

Facebook has launched yet another mobile app today, and this one is called Notify. It’s available already in the iTunes App Store for iOS, but there’s no word on when or if it might make the jump to other platforms.

As its name clearly implies, Notify is all about notifications. This is an app for those who think they’re not getting enough notifications throughout the day. So why not add a few?

Notify notifies you about things you care about, after you’ve picked what those are from a handy list of “stations”. To get a better idea of what that means, know that one such station is Final Scores from FOX Sports, and another is Hot New Trailers from Fandango. While the former is pretty much self-explanatory, the latter will notify you every time there’s a new trailer out for “the hottest movies”.

Choose a dozen or so “stations” and soon your iPhone will keep on buzzing. Notify gives you station suggestions based on your Facebook profile (of course). If you tap on any of Notify’s notifications, you’ll be brought to the respective website through an in-app browser.

Oh, and you can share your favorite notifications with friends via text, email, Facebook, or another social network (if you know any). There’s also a saved notifications list where you place things you want to get to later, as well as an in-app feed of all the notifications you’ve received over the past 24…

Firmware leaks point to an early release of the Galaxy S7

While the rumors start to stir in the pot of leaks for the Galaxy S7, one of them points to firmware codes, which means Samsung could have started developing the software for the Galaxy S7. These two codes, G930FXXU0AOK6 and G935FXXU0AOK6, suggest that Samsung plans to have a regular model and an “Edge” one.

Interestingly, these codes began development about a month earlier than last year’s Galaxy S6. Samsung could be aiming for an earlier launch next year, just as it did with the Galaxy Note5 this year.

At this point some of what is known about the Galaxy S7 is that it might have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 from the benchmark test of a device codenamed “Lucky”. Because Marshmallow has already been out for a little while, we can also assume that Samsung is going to go with that Android version for the Galaxy S7.

We can’t wait to see what kind of rumors are going to spill until then. Many people are excited about the release of The Next Big Thing every year and Samsung cleverly made two flagships that launch 6 months…
