HTC cuts Re camera price to $80, its accessories get discounted too

Believe it or not, HTC still has Re camera units left over, even after the $50 sale (down a whopping $150 off its regular price). Right now the company is giving you the opportunity to grab a last minute Christmas present – 60% off the Re and 40% off its accessories.

This puts the price of the Re camera at $80, while something like the Charging Stand is $24. You also get free 2-day shipping, so you’ll have plenty of time left over to get it giftwrapped. The deal ends today, the 15th, at midnight PT time.

Note that there’s a limit of 3 Res and 10 accessories per customer, in case you were planning to place multiple camera around the house to photograph Santa.

And before you ask, in Europe it’s £130/€170, not a price cut in sight. Again.

Samsung Galaxy A9 appears in unofficial video, compared to the A7

The Samsung Galaxy A9 isn’t missing, it’s just fashionably late. Samsung unveiled the 2016 Galaxy A lineup with the A3, A5 and A7, holding back the A9 as its ace in the hole. The 6″ slab couldn’t quite deal with the anonymity and after yesterday’s extensive specs leak, now it shows up on video.

The video compares the Galaxy A9 to the Galaxy A7 (2016). You can see the big difference between 5.5″ and 6″, but other than that the design is largely unchanged.

The specs are pretty much the same as well – a 1080p Super AMOLED screen, octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, 13MP camera with OIS and a fingerprint reader for Samsung Pay. The A9 is expected to launch around Christmas or in January and its price will likely top CNY 3,000/€430.

Xiaomi Mi 5 listed on online retailer’s website with full specs

Xiaomi’s eagerly-anticipated upcoming flagship has been stirring up a lot of commotion in the mobile realm and understandably so. The OEM’s track record of putting out competitive offers has resulted in a lot of pressure and high expectations for the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Despite the frequent visits to the rumor mill, the handset is still shrouded with a lot of mystery and major speculations, like the possibility of a physical home button – a Xiaomi first. Today finally brings some specifics on the flagship offer, as it has been listed on Oppomart’s website.

The page includes a full set of specs and considering the source is pretty reputable, we are inclined to believe in their validity. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will have a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel display. There is no info on the panel technology, but we can only assume an IPS LCD one, considering the company’s track record. RAM is set at 4GB and memory options include 16GB, 64GB and 128GB.

The chipset is just as impressive – Qualcomm’s next-gen beast, the Snapdragon 820. The camera setup consists of a 20MP main shooter and an 8MP selfie one.The phone looks to be powered by a 3,800 mAh battery and boots the OEM’s own MIUI 7, based on Android 5.1 (although the specs say MIUI 6, but that is obviously a typo). It is available in classic black and white colors. Thanks to another recent leak, courtesy of China UnionPay, we are also fairly certain that the Mi 5 will once again feature NFC, along with support for the new local “Cloud Lightening Pay” platform.

Last, but definitely not least, the listing also features a price. It is, of course, preliminary and could be subject to change, but is currently set at $599. That is a pretty penny indeed, but still quite competitive considering the next-get flagship specs.

Thanks for the tip Dr. Amey…

As per the report, the Cupertino-based company is also looking into OLED displays. It’s worth mentioning that the Apple Watch is currently the only Apple product that features an OLED display.

Microsoft suspends Lumia 950 update, due to bugs

The first Windows 10 update Microsoft has published for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL was removed shortly after its launch. The update was the first one to bypass carrier testing, but installation issues forced the Windows 10 Mobile team to take it down.

On the Microsoft Answers forum, a moderator explains that users should ignore low storage notifications and if pending OS or app updates are present, leave the phone plugged into a charger “while it works through those items.”

The update in question is labeled 10586.29 and some users had to reset their devices in order to get them working normally again. It’s unclear when Microsoft plans to fix the update and relaunch it. However, the company is adamant that user feedback is taken seriously and encourages customers to reach out to the company in case of problems.

Microsoft Band 2 gets $50 price cut in US

The Microsoft Band 2 has received a decent price cut in the US, where Amazon is now selling it for $200, which is $50 less than its regular price of $250. The device was launched towards the end of October.

It’s worth mentioning that Best Buy was offering the same discount on the wearable yesterday, but turned out that was a flash sale which is now over. For those who aren’t in the know, Amazon UK too was offering a £10 discount on the band last week, however, unfortunately, that’s also not the case currently.

Last week, the device also received a software update that brought along some new features, including music controls and new…
