The ISS’s New Space Module Fails Its First Inflation Attempt
Early this morning, NASA was supposed to deploy the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module — BEAM, a giant inflatable tent affixed to the International Space Station. However, the agency aborted the attempt after the module failed to properly expand.

Verizon HTC 10 set to receive new update starting May 27

If you are on Verizon and own an HTC 10, here’s some news for you: a new software update will be rolling out to HTC 10 units on Verizon’s network starting May 27. This was announced by HTC’s VP of Product Management Mo Versi on Twitter.

As for what changes the update will bring along, Versi mentions “camera improvements and additional fixes.” Apparently, it’s the same update that started rolling out to unlocked…

Google gana a Oracle en la lucha de derechos de autor

Un jurado de EU emitió este jueves un fallo que permite el uso que Google hizo del software de Oracle Corp para crear un sistema operativo Android para sus teléfonos inteligentes.

El jurado protegió de forma unánime la posición de Google acerca de que la plataforma de desarrollo Java está protegida bajo la provisión de uso justo de la ley de derechos de autor.

A pesar del fallo a favor de Google, Oracle dijo en un comunicado que apelará la decisión, pues la compañía esperaba una compensación de 9,000 millones de dólares (mdd).

“Google desarrolló Android copiando ilegalmente partes fundamentales de Java para entrar cuanto antes en el mercado móvil”, indicó la empresa.

Este es el segundo juicio entre las compañías. El primero ocurrió en 2012 cuando Oracle demandó a Google por violar su propiedad intelectual e infringir varias patentes en desarrollo de Android; el juicio terminó luego sin que el jurado pudiera emitir un veredicto.

La ley de Estados Unidos permite la utilización limitada de material sin tener que adquirir un permiso del poseedor de los derechos bajo la provisión de "uso justo" para propósitos como la investigación.
