Iowa Offers Tax Incentives In Bid To Become An Epicenter For Innovation In Bio-based Materials

Last week the governor of Iowa, Terry Branstad, signed a bill which came to him with bipartisan support from the legislature. The measure institutes tax incentives designed to accelerate the growth of the emerging biotech industry that turns crop- and animal-derived feed-stocks into high value, “building block” chemicals. These are climate friendly replacements for chemicals historically derived from oil or natural gas, and they can be used to make everything from plastics to textiles to specialty lubricants to paints and inks to pharmaceuticals. The law was carefully crafted to specifically reward new product development beyond food and fuel, and to provide a larger tax break for new entities while still encouraging innovation by existing players. Governor Branstad told me that his confidence in this kind of business stimulus reflects positive experience from similar programs during his first stint as governor (1983 to 1999).

Destiny’s April Update Does So Much With So Little

It can be hard to go back to a game after a long absence. You’ve got to relearn all those ingrained patterns you lost, you’ve got to reestablish the rhythms of the week, and most importantly, you’ve got to reactivate the part of your brain that cared so very deeply about levels, loot, emblems and shaders. That’s the challenge that Destiny is facing right now on a grand scale: myself and many others have spent a long time out of the world, and the developer is hoping that some more light levels and some new challenges are enough to bring us back, get us back into that groove that turns Destiny into a part of every day life. And guess what? For me, at least, it’s working. And it’s working for all the same reasons it always did.

The Noob Cost-playing with my SO

Last night, after getting home from work, my BF, who makes fun of my minecraft habit, offered to play with me. I quickly crafted him some iron armor, sword, water bucket, gave him some pick axes and food. YAY!

Total Death Count: 7

#1(him)- Runs into a village, tries to wave at a baby villager. Punches it. Iron Golem wrecks his world.

2(him)- digs straight down into lava. Dies.

3(him)- creeper

New gear, guide him to a cavern I haven't really gotten started exploring. Off he goes, I follow to offer advice.

5(me)-He digs a block out from under me and I fall into massive lava pit.

6(me) Explaining how to mine the diamonds that are over lava to him, fall into the hole he dug earlier.

7(him) Forgets to eat, skeleton takes advantage of situation.

At this point, he's broken 3 enchanted pick axes, but had a boat load of ore in his bag. He ran out of torches, but had a "eh, I can find my way back…." moment. Needless to say, we never found where he was.

The ouch factor: full set of lovely enchanted diamond armor:gone. Looting II, Sharpness IV, Fire Aspect diamond sword:poof I don't even want to think about all the sexy pick axes that went to pick axe heaven.

Absolutely worth it, if just to watch the Iron Golem come around the corner and send him flying. I had tears from laughing.

Google está de rebajas: Nexus 5X desde 349 euros y Nexus 6P desde 499 euros

El año pasado Google presentó sus dos nuevos dispositivos Nexus. Uno fabricado por LG, el Nexus 5X y otro con mejores especificaciones y diseñado por Huawei, el Nexus 6P. Se trata de dos de los mejores terminales que podemos adquirir a día de hoy en el mercado, ya sea por contar con la fluidez y buen rendimiento de Android nativo y porque al tener soporte directo de Google, serán los primeros dispositivos en obtener las nuevas versiones de Android.

Por desgracia, a pesar de ser dos increíbles terminales, a muchos usuarios les echó para atrás su precio, el cual podía ser algo elevado para lo que la familia Nexus nos tenía acostumbrado. Por suerte, Google tiene en cuenta que los bolsillos de los usuarios no están pasando por el mejor momento y han decido ofrecer un gran descuento para todos aquellos que deseen obtener uno de estos terminales.

Nexus 5X desde 349 euros y Nexus 6P desde 499 euros

Empecemos por el menos potente de los dos terminales, el Nexus 5X fabricado por LG. El que es el considerado el heredero espiritual del prestigioso Nexus 5, no contó en un principio con el agrado de la comunidad Android. Un dispositivo con especificaciones muy interesantes, pero cuyo precio estaba sin duda algo inflado.

Por suerte ahora podemos encontrarlo desde 349 euros en la Google Store en su versión de 16 GB. Un gran descuento teniendo en cuenta que antes costaba 429 euros. Por lo demás si prefieres la versión de 32 GB, que sepas que lo pueden obtener por 399 euros cuando antes tenía un precio de 479 euros. Sin duda alguna, un buen ahorro.

También Google ofrece un descuento del 50% para las fundas del Nexus 5X. La funda ADOPTED para el Nexus 5X, que antes costaba 20 euros, ahora se encuentra por 10 euros; mientras que la funda Speck para el Nexus 5X, que antes costaba 40 euros, la podremos obtener por 20 euros.

Por otro lado, si preferís el hermano mayor fabricado por Huawei, el Nexus 6P, que sepáis que también cuenta con su considerable descuento. La versión de 32 GB pasa de los 649 euros a los 499 euros, mientras que la versión de 64 GB que antes costaba los 799 euros, ahora vale 649 euros.

Estas ofertas estarán disponibles desde el 15 de abril hasta el 6 de mayo de 2016.

6.4″ Xiaomi Max front panel leaked – truly massive

Barely hours ago we told you about a future Xiaomi phablet, which after an online poll the company decided to name Xiaomi Max. Meanwhile a couple of photos have surfaced, and they seem to be coming straight from the production line.

The shots depict the device’s front panel and it’s nothing short of colossal. If we’re still going to call it a phone, that is – as tablets go it’s tiny.
