New version of the Kindle Fire HD 8 is apparently in the works at Amazon

Amazon might be looking to add a new 8-inch tablet to its Kindle Fire-branded lineup soon. The new slate will intriguingly be mostly lower-end than the currently available Kindle Fire HD 8, so perhaps it’s actually going to be a more affordable version of that.

Some of the new tablet’s specs have been leaked because someone put a prototype through the paces of GFXBench. The device is identified as Amazon KFGIWI, as you can see. The only thing that’s higher-end here than in the Kindle Fire HD 8 is the RAM amount, now 1.5GB compared to 1GB.

The new device has an 8-inch 1,280×800…

Samsung Galaxy J7, LG Stylo 2, and Kyocera Hydro Reach launch at Boost and Virgin Mobile on Friday

This Friday will be a very busy day for Sprint’s prepaid brands, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. The former will see no less than three new smartphones launching on April 15, while the latter will have to go with two out of three. The trio in question consists of the Samsung Galaxy J7, LG Stylo 2, and Kyocera Hydro Reach.

The Galaxy J7 arriving at Boost and Virgin isn’t this year’s iteration, instead it looks to be last year’s model, but it does have a couple of upgrades compared to the internationally available unit. Namely, it sports 2GB of RAM, and it’s also running Android 6.0…

Ahora puedes ajustar los DPI de la pantalla de tu Samsung Galaxy S7 y S7 edge

A finales del pasado mes de febrero se presentaron los nuevos Samsung Galaxy S7 y S7 edge, y quedó claro que nos íbamos a encontrar ante dos terminales que iban a atraer mucha atención. El pasado mes de marzo analizamos el Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, que confirmó las primeras buenas impresiones, si bien hace unos días publicamos que se liberó una actualización para solucionar problemas de pantalla.

En la noticia que te traemos hoy volvemos a hablar de la pantalla, y es que según hemos podido leer en Sammobile vamos a poder cambiar los DPI de la pantalla de los Samsung Galaxy S7 y S7 edge. TouchWiz ofrece en la actual generación de flagships un ajuste que nos permite modificar este aspecto, con el que podremos activar un modo “condensado” de pantalla que encoge el tamaño de los elementos de la UI, lo que permite colocar más contenido en el escritorio.

Vale la pena comentar que esta actualización hace oficial lo que antes era un hack, que servía para parchear los problemas con las funciones táctiles. Samsung no ha mencionado esta nueva característica en la lista de cambios, por lo que su descubrimiento ha tarado un poco.

Una función durmiente en Android

Esta función de escalado de los DPI se descubrió como una función durmiente de Android 6.0. La única forma de activarla era realizando un proceso muy complicado que requería la instalación de Nova Launcher y acceder al menú oculto. Después de eso un desarrollador creó una solución de un único botón que automatizaba todo el proceso.

Por lo que parece, bastantes usuarios están interesados en modificar los DPI de la pantalla. Cuando Samsung vio que la característica funcionaba sin errores, entonces es fácil entender por qué Samsung decidió activar este ajuste en TouchWiz para sus últimos tope de gama.

Para poder cambiar entre el modo “condensado” de DPIs y el estándar, es necesario acudir a Ajustes > Pantalla para hacerlo.
