Sony’s Xperia X, Xperia X Performance will not have Quick Charge 3.0 either

Following the news that Samsung’s new flagship phones will not be compatible with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 standard, we’re now learning that Sony’s new devices will not be using the standard either. The newly announced Sony Xperia X and Sony Xperia X Performance will be using Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 standard despite the fact that the Qualcomm processors used in either phone is fully compatible with Quick Charge 3.0.

We speculated that Samsung was omitting the feature in order to offer charging parity between the Exynos and Qualcomm powered variants of its phones, but we’re not sure what to make of Sony’s decision to stick with the older standard. There’s a good chance that Quick Charge 3.0 will be turned on for these devices with a software update after the phones are released. HTC promised Quick Charge 3.0 support for the HTC One A9 through a software update when the phone was initially launched in October of last year, but the phone is still only compatible with Quick Charge 2.0. This leads us to believe that Qualcomm may be having issues with the new Quick Charge standard itself.

Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 3 in India

Xiaomi today announced the Redmi Note 3 for the Indian market. The phone is priced at INR 9,999 ($148) for the 16GB model, and INR 11,999 ($178) for the 32GB model.

The Redmi Note 3 for India runs on the brand new Snapdragon 650 SoC and 2GB of RAM on the 16GB model and 3GB RAM on the 32GB model. It also has a new 16 megapixel camera with f2.0 aperture and phase detect autofocus. Then there’s the 5.5-inch 1080p display, 5 megapixel front camera, and a massive 4,050mAh battery. The Redmi Note 3 is also the first Xiaomi phone to have a fingerprint sensor and the first Redmi phone to have a metal body. The phone runs on MIUI 7 on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The Redmi Note 3 will be manufactured in India as part of the country’s Make in India initiative.

[APK] Google Fotos se actualiza mejorando la navegación y el rendimiento

Google ha lanzado una nueva versión de Fotos hoy mismo, y es en si una actualización bastante significativa para el usuario que la utilice diariamente. Uno de los cambios más evidentes llega desde el panel de navegación lateral en el que se ha eliminado la sección de “Colecciones” para ser sustituida por “Álbumes”.

Es en esta nueva sección denominada Álbumes y que se caracteriza por un nuevo “carrusel” que nos permite acceder de forma fácil a las álbumes compartidos, lugares, personas, cosas, animaciones, collages, películas y carpetas del dispositivo. El otro gran cambio está relacionado con la inclusión de un nuevo botón que mejora la navegación y, en definitiva, el rendimiento.

Según la propia Google, el nuevo botón en la barra de navegación ha sido añadido para que sea más fácil y más rápida la navegación entre las distintas secciones principales de la aplicación. La barra de navegación es estática y ya no se puede navegar entre las distintas secciones.

El cambio para introducir la sección “álbumes” y eliminar “Colecciones”, llega por el propio feedback compartido por los propios usuarios y al que Google ha querido darle toda la importancia posible. Esta nueva página tiene un nuevo “carrusel” en la parte superior en el que podemos pasar rápidamente a través de los álbumes compartidos, personas o carpetas del dispositivo entre otras más opciones.

Google quiere con esta aplicación que los usuarios se centre más si cabe en las imágenes y las demás herramientas sean meros pasos rápidos para acceder a toda su colección de fotografías. Una interesante propuesta que se suma a esos pequeños detalles como el que hemos visto hace menos de una hora en las reseñas de la Play Store.
