Now that the Idol 4 and the Idol 4s are official, Alcatel is understandably looking to clear some of its Idol 3 inventory, in anticipation of the release of the new devices.
And that means there are deals to be had for last year’s models. Both the 4.7-inch and the 5.5-inch Idol 3 variants are now cheaper at Amazon.
The smaller handset can be yours for $169.99, which is $30 less than it was before. On the other hand, the 5.5″ Idol 3 is priced at $179.99, a whopping $70 less than it was up until now. In both cases we’re talking about phones you purchase unlocked and SIM-free, so there are no long-term carrier contracts to worry about here.
If you’re wondering which version to buy, then know that the 5.5-inch Idol 3 comes with better specs than its smaller sibling. So unless you feel that its size is too much to handle, it’s probably the one to pick, especially now that it’s just $10 more expensive than the 4.7-inch…

The Apple iPhone 5se has been in our rumors sections for quite some time. Recent reports suggest the iPhone 5se will be going official on March 22, so we’ll have to wait just a few weeks before we know everything.
Most of the leaks confirm the iPhone 5se will be a 4″ smartphone with TouchID and upgraded 8MP snapper. It should be powered by Apple’s latest A9 chipset, the same as the one ticking inside the iPhone 6s generation, but with half the RAM at 1GB.
The iPhone 5se is said to be a special edition of the iPhone 5s, with more powerful hardware and refreshed design. The new looks are now confirmed by this new leaked picture of the retail box, which shows the compact fella with a 2.5D curved protective glass on the screen.
The box, if real, also confirms the phone’s name – Apple iPhone 5se, which should stand for Special Edition, or iPhone 5s Enhanced, as some rumors are suggesting.
Anyway, Apple is still mum on its plans, but the event should eventually happen on March 22. A new iPad Pro is also expected to be announced on stage, as well as a new iPad Air 3 with Apple A9X chip (currently available on the original iPad…

Vivo is back with another “Xplay” device, this one the Xplay5, and it’s managed to shove in a bunch of hardware specs into its “Flagship Edition” device to please spec lovers.
First and foremost, the Xplay5 Flagship Edition boasts a whopping 6GB of RAM, the first mobile device to offer that much. It also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor under the hood, 128GB of built-in storage, and a built-in battery that measures 3600mAh that supports rapid charging. The device also features a “HiFi 3.0″ package, which Vivo says means the handset has three amplifiers for a boost to sound quality as well as a pair of SABRE Mobile DAC chips.
Then there’s the regular version of the Xplay5, which features 4GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. It also includes 128GB of built-in storage and the same 3600mAh built-in battery as the Flagship Edition.
The rest of the features are the same between the handsets. They both offer a 5.4-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and a fingerprint reader on the back. The camera on the back is a 16-megapixel shooter from Sony, featuring phase-detection autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash. There’s an 8-megapixel front-facing camera on both phones. Interestingly enough, the Xplay5 is running Android 5.1 under Vivo’s proprietary interface.
The regular edition of the Vivo Xplay5 is available to pre-order right now, and it costs 3,698 yuan (about $560). The Flagship Edition will cost 4,288 yuan (about $650), but there’s no word on when it will launch.

This week is just full of good deals. Yesterday brought in the introduction of a great price on the Moto G (3rd Gen), and today is bringing us yet another deal, though on products from another manufacturer. Amazon has the 4.7-inch Idol 3 listed for $30 off regular price, down to $169.99. The 5.5-inch Idol 3 has an even larger price cut, with $100 knocked off to bring the price down to $179.99.
Alacatel’s 4.7-inch Idol 3 brings in a 720p IPS display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage plus microSD card slot, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2000mAh battery, 4G LTE support for GSM networks and Android Lollipop.
The larger 5.5-inch model packs a 1080p display, 1.5GHz + 1GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage plus microSD card, 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, 2910mAh battery, 4G LTE support for GSM networks and Android Lollipop.
Both size options also feature dual front-facing stereo speakers that are designed by JBL. Additionally, the design of the front of the phone is essentially symmetrical, and Alcatel has designed it so that it can be used in any orientation, even while making calls.
While the Alcatel Idol 4 was just announced, the Idol 3 is still a great device and packs in serious bang for your buck, especially at this incredibly low price. As long as you’re not looking for top-of-the-line flagship specs, you should be very happy with the Idol 3.

La fecha ya estaba prevista, era simple cuestión de tiempo y por fin la espera ha terminado. El Vivo Xplay 5, el primer terminal con 6 GB de RAM, se ha presentado oficialmente en China y aquí os contamos todos los detalles de este móvil que rompe los esquemas hasta ahora conocidos en el ecosistema tecnológico.
Vivo nuevamente rompe récords, pues si bien hace ya un par de años presentó el Vivo Xplay 3S, el primer terminal con pantalla QuadHD, hoy presenta el primer móvil con 6 GB de RAM, una cantidad que hasta ahora se creía innecesaria, pero que ha comprobado ser útil en cuestiones de desempeño al vencer al iPhone 6s en una prueba de rendimiento.
El Vivo Xplay 5 llega como un terminal con un diseño bastante llamativo pues incorpora la misma pantalla curva que el Galaxy S7 Edge, pero también recuerda al iPhone en su parte posterior. Sin embargo, y como ya ha quedado comprobado, el diseño no es lo único llamativo que este terminal tiene, así que pasemos al repaso de las especificaciones técnicas.
El nuevo terminal de Vivo llega en dos presentaciones: el modelo Estándar con procesador Snapdragon 652 y 4 GB de RAM, y el modelo Premium con chip Snapdragon 820, 6 GB de RAM LPDDR4, y sonido de alta calidad HiFi 3.0 cortesía de un chip de audio digital (DAC). Siendo estas las principales diferencias, los demás aspectos se mantienen prácticamente idénticos y son los siguientes:

En cuanto a la disponibilidad de estos terminales, el modelo estándar ya se encuentra disponible para pre-ordenar, mientras que el modelo premium aún no tiene fecha de llegada al mercado. Los precios son otra historia y si bien se trata de un fabricante chino, los precios son elevador: el modelo base tendrá un precio de 3.698 yuanes, alrededor de 520 euros, mientras que el tope de gama se eleva a los 4.288 yuanes, cerca de 604 euros.
Ambos modelos estarán disponibles en colores dorado y rosado, tonalidades que se han vuelto muy famosas en su natal China gracias al iPhone. Finalmente, de la disponibilidad fuera de Asia no se ha hecho mención alguna, pero es muy poco probable que lo veamos hecho realidad de manera oficial, así que habrá que recurrir a terceros para poder adquirir este terminal en regiones fuera de China.

Ya no nos coge por sorpresa que sean muchas las apps que desembarcan antes en iOS que en Android, tal como sucede con la versión de Booyah, disponible desde hoy mismo en Android. Un servicio que sorprendió a miles de usuarios en iOS cuando fue lanzado al igual que le sucedió a los desarrolladores de WhatsApp.
Booyah solamente tiene una pantalla y no hay forma de que uno pueda perderse en sus recovecos, ya que no los tiene. Invitas a tus amigos, tantos como pueden ser 12 a la vez, para una quedada virtual. Tus amigos reciben una invitación para comenzar el chat de vídeo que se está iniciando y entrarás en contacto con ellos de forma directa.
La app fue creada excepcionalmente para WhatsApp. Una vez que la tengas instalada, se conecta a tu cuenta de WhatsApp para encontrar la lista de amigos para que así puedas invitarlos a chat de vídeo. No se necesita ni crear una cuenta para acceder a las llamadas de vídeo.
Ahora os preguntaréis que sucede si uno no tiene WhatsApp. La solución pasa por tomar los contactos que tengas en Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat y otros, pero lo que realmente quiere esta compañía detrás de Booyah, es que uses WhatsApp.
Booyah aclara que no está afiliada con WhatsApp ni nada parecido. Su nombre oficial es Booyah Video Chat for WhatsApp, para que nadie le quede duda para que la usará. Booyah donde da en el clavo es en ofrecer chat de vídeo en grupo cuando todavía estamos esperando que en algún momento WhatsApp lance esta característica.
Así que, si buscabas la forma de poder comunicarte con tus contactos en WhatsApp con llamadas de vídeo en grupo, no faltes a la cita con esta oportunidad que ofrece Booya Video Chat disponible desde hoy mismo en Android.
