Minecraft major game idea
I think I'm not alone on having a love/hate relationship with open world games. It stimulates creativity but when I start lacking it too much the game becomes incredibly boring and I end up stop playing for months until I feel like playing again.
Now, what you opened this post for: Minecraft Settlements
I was thinking of giving all first-join players one certain block (let's say bedrock). The players start out in adventure mode and wander around to find a nice spot to build their settlement.
When the players find their paradise, they place the bedrock block which a (set of) command block(s) turns into a small "temple" which serves as their town center, and allows them to build around it in a certain radius. This limitation makes players think carefully about where to start their base, and forces players to trade with each other.
Cool things this means:
Additional/optional ideas:
The reason I'm posting this here is hoping that one of you redstone wizards read this and like the idea and manage to code it into a couple of command blocks for us to use. I could probably do it myself but it would cost me my weekend and if someone else could do it for me sooner (and probably better), that would be awesome!
edit: I wrote "major game idea" as opposite to a mini game idea. Not to the idea having a big impact on the game.

In today’s age of wanting instant access to everything, webpages that load slowly can be a real drag. In fact, people tend to leave sites that haven’t loaded in less than three seconds. Google is aiming to fix this with the Accelerated Mobile Pages Project.
AMP is an initiative to make fast loading mobile webpages. Many sites have joined the AMP project, and Google is starting to show these AMP pages in Google Search marked with a small thunderbolt and AMP logo.
These pages will load very quickly, or even instantly. They’re supposed to use 10 times less data than other sites, both saving you data and time. And with AMP sites showing at the top of web searches, you can scroll between these sites in the search results to get exactly the info you need.
This project is really good for everyone. Users get a better web experience, sites that take the initiative get more traffic, and Google gets more use. Let us know when you start seeing AMP pages show up in your search results!

The Gmail team wants to help you manage your inbox, and tools will help you do just that, which is why new features manage to find their way into the Gmail app on a regular basis. The latest additions will help you get your point across and make it easier to accept calendar invitations.
The first part of the new update is support for Rich Text Formatting. With RTF support, users will be able to not only italicize text, but also bold it, underline it, highlight it, and color it if they so desire. This should help emphasize words to really drive home what you’re getting at. For mobile users, it’s a long time coming.
The second part of the update is support for “Instant RSVP,” which will allow you to simply tap a button to see your calendar and find out if you’re able to make it to an event. The new feature supports both Google Calendar and Microsoft Exchange.
The changes should be rolling out now, but could take some time to show up. What do you think of the new additions?

LG’s created three Nexus smartphones so far, starting with the Nexus 4 from 2012 and including the Nexus 5X from last year (pictured below). Its Nexus offerings have generally been well-received, and thought to exhibit a pretty good price to features ratio.
There’s bad news for fans of LG-made Nexus handsets, however. The Korean company will not be making a new one in 2016. This comes straight from an LG spokesperson, so it’s pretty much official – we won’t have a successor to the Nexus 5X this year, at least not one bearing LG’s logo on it.
The reason for this move apparently has to do with LG needing to focus on its own brand, and devices such as the recently unveiled G5. A Nexus smartphone is usually perceived as being more a Google offering than one from the company actually making it, and profit margins on Nexuses probably aren’t great either.
LG’s break from the Nexus program doesn’t mean we won’t have any new such phones this year, though. Last month a rumor claimed HTC would be putting out not one, but two Nexus devices in 2016. Obviously that’s not confirmed yet, so it’s still possible that some other company will get involved too.
LG will bring the canceled Watch Urbane LTE 2nd Edition smartwatch back to the market at some point in the second half of this year, according to the same spokesman who shared the news about the company’s Nexus plans (or lack thereof). The watch got canned last November because of certain issues with its display, which seem to have been quite big since it’s taking LG so much time to reengineer the wearable. Anyway, there’s going to be another new LG smartwatch hitting the streets before 2016…
