Nokia Earnings Preview: Networks Should Drive Growth

Nokia is scheduled to release its Q4 2015 results on February 11th. The results will largely depend on the performance of its Networks segment, which accounts for about 60% of the company’s value, per our estimates. Not only do we expect the segment to sustain its sturdy revenue growth momentum, we expect operating margins to swell. Nokia’s strong position in China, a recovery in carrier spending in the U.S. and a hefty order pipeline can help the company’s top line, although the recent economic slowdown in China may have an offsetting impact. On the bottom line front, Nokia has seen tremendous sequential improvement during the first three quarters, which it expects to continue in Q4 as well. Despite the added pressure from low margin China deals and a shift in mix of global services, the company can push its margins upwards on the back of radio and core network technologies and cost efficiency efforts.

Alcatel Fierce XL with Windows 10 is now available at T-Mobile

Exactly as rumored, T-Mobile has made the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL with Windows available for purchase today. The phone didn’t even get an announcement press release, but if you’re interested in picking one up you can already do so from the magenta carrier’s website.

This version of the Fierce XL runs Windows 10 Mobile, being indeed the first Alcatel device to do so. It can be yours for $139.99 upfront. Or you can go with T-Mobile’s famous installment plan, in which case you shell out $0 initially, then followed by 24 monthly payments of $5.84.

You obviously don’t get high-end specs for that amount of cash. The Fierce XL boasts a 5.5-inch 720p touchscreen, an 8 MP main camera with LED flash, a 2 MP secondary snapper, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC (with a 1.1 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, LTE, and a 2,500 mAh battery.

The phone appears to only be available in the color version you can see above, with a black front and a bright blue…

Pandora Earnings Preview: Soaring Expenses To Overshadow Strong Topline Improvement

Pandora Media shares have fallen sharply since the report of third quarter results in late October. Not only did the company issue weaker-than-expected Q4 guidance, but there were significant concerns over the pending ruling of the Copyright Royalty Board’s regarding the company’s royalty costs. The Internet radio company is scheduled to release its Q4 and full year results on February 11, and even though we expect a steady rise in its revenues, a faster increase in expenses is likely to keep the company deep in losses. Pandora expects to report revenues in the $325-$330 million range with adjusted EBITDA at ~$27 million.
