En la actualidad, la tecnología avanza a paso de gigante, y es que hace únicamente 9 años se presentaba el primer smartphone de la mano de Apple. Este pionero revolucionó lo que por aquel entonces conocíamos como teléfono, e incorporaba unas características nunca antes vistas en un dispositivo de su tamaño. Con 128 MB de RAM, un procesador a 412 MHz y una pantalla de 3,5 pulgadas con resolución 320 x 480 píxeles, aquello supuso el comienzo de una era.
Ya de vuelta en el presente, existen dispositivos que pueden llegar a incorporar más memoria y poder de procesado que un portátil u ordenador de sobremesa. Estos avances han sido conseguidos en tan poco tiempo que resulta escalofriante pensar donde estaremos dentro de 20 años. Una muestra de esta capacidad de progreso viene de la mano de Samsung, y es que la coreana acaba de anunciar que ya está produciendo a gran escala los primeros chips de memoria UFS 2.0 de 256 GB.
Samsung fue de las primeras en realizar el cambio desde el estándar eMMC hasta UFS 2.0 con sus flagships del año pasado. Este tipo de memoria, que también hemos visto en el recién presentado Xiaomi Mi 5, permite transferencia de datos a unas velocidades mucho más altas que la anterior tecnología. En concreto, este chip de memoria puede llegar a manejar entre 45.000 y 40.000 operaciones de lectura y escritura por segundo.
Asimismo, la firma de origen coreano sostiene que sus nuevos chips de 256 GB utilizan dos vías de transmisión de datos, para así mover información a una velocidad de hasta 850 MB/s. Ésto superaría hasta los discos SSD estándar utilizados en ordenadores. Además, Samsung presume de que este tipo de memorias son aproximadamente 3 veces más rápidas que la tarjeta microSD más veloz disponible en el mercado actualmente.
Los datos son abrumadores, y aunque todavía falte un tiempo para que estos chips sean adoptados en dispositivos electrónicos de manera general, resultan muy prometedores. Especialmente, Samsung apunta al mercado de gama alta para así conseguir, por ejemplo, que los usuarios disfruten de un visionado de vídeo Ultra HD sin ningún tipo de lag o retraso.
De cualquier manera, resulta algo sospechoso que Samsung haya optado por no incorporar estos chips de memoria en sus últimos buques insignia. Quizás todavía sean demasiado costosos como para ser usados, por lo que habrá que esperar a que se conviertan en algo más ordinario dentro de los dispositivos.

The Pebble Time smartwatch has received a price cut in the US. Daily deal aggregator and online retailer Groupon has the timepiece listed on its website for $135, down from its MSRP of $200 (the device is usually available for around $150).
That’s not all of it. You’ll get an additional 15% discount upon entering the coupon code SALE3. This brings down the cost of the watch to $115 (or around $125 if you include taxes). Shipping is free. It’s a limited time deal – the listing currently shows less than 14 days left until the promo expires.
Just to recall, the smartwatch went on sale in the US back in July last year, and in December it received an update that included the ability track health without the need for a third party app.

Hitman es uno de los videojuegos más populares, incluso se ha llevado esta historia al cine con varias películas. Ahora Square Enix Montreal ha anunciado que Hitman GO: Definitive Edition ha sido lanzado en Steam para Linux el 23 de febrero de este año para el territorio americano y el 24 de febrero para el territorio europeo. Por tanto, ya podemos comprar este gran título y divertirnos en nuestra distro Linux.
Aunque esta versión no es como otras ediciones de Hitman, ya que no se trata de un shooter en primera persona, sino que se basa en un juego de puzzle por turnos o estrategia. Y el precio es de unos 7.99$ si lo quieres comprar. Además, Square Enix Montreal tiene pensado llevar Hitman GO: Defnitive Edition también a plataformas móviles, y ya está disponible para otras plataformas como Windows.
El fundamento del juego Hitman GO: Definitive Edition es el mismo que en el Hitman tradicional, terminar con tus enemigos, aunque para los amantes de los shooters, este juego no sea demasiado atractivo, quizás para otros que le gusten los juegos estratégicos sí que lo sea y pasen buenos ratos entretenidos con este título. Además, ahora tendrás un descuento del 20% en Steam para las plataformas Linux y Windows, por lo que puedes comprarlo ahora y ahorrar un poco.
