Samba es un nombre conocido en el Mundo Gnu/Linux pero son pocos los que realmente saben o conocen su importancia y por ello seguramente son pocos los que actualicen su sistema a Samba 4.3.5, la nueva actualización de Samba.
Samba es una tecnología que ayuda a nuestro sistema operativo a conectarse con otros equipos o sistemas operativos que no son como el nuestro. Así, permite conexiones con otras distribuciones Gnu/Linux y con equipos con Mac OS o Windows. Muchos diréis que no queréis conectaros con equipos con Microsoft, etc… pero gracias a Samba podremos conectar con equipos como servidores que nos muestre sus archivos, como páginas web. Actualmente Samba está en toda distribución Gnu/Linux y su actualización o cuidado es importante ya que se encarga de partes de las conexiones externas de nuestro sistema operativo.
Samba 4.3.5 no trae ninguna novedad importante dentro del sistema, pero sí que corrige muchos bugs y errores que han sido reportados, de ahí su importancia. Samba 4.3.5. corrige los errores que existen con el Kernel, con la expiación de la sesión, etc… diversos bugs y errores que pueden suponer un peligro para la Red que tengamos o para nuestro sistema operativo. De ahí que su actualización sea importante.
Seguramente muchas distribuciones ya están actualizando sus sistemas y ya tenéis la última versión. Si no es el caso, lo mejor es que vayáis a la web oficial y descarguéis esta actualización para implementarla en vuestro sistema operativo. Lo cierto es que Samba es una aplicación importante y a no ser que sólo uséis vuestro Linux como máquina de escribir, lo mejor es no deshabilitar este servicio, así como tampoco desinstalar el software. Lo cierto es que cada vez hay más redes en nuestro hogar o en el trabajo lo que hace que cada vez sea más importante el uso de Samba o al menos eso me parece a mi, puede que realmente no lo sea ¿vosotros qué pensáis?
