Now that 2015 is over and done with, the best-selling everything lists are rolling out, and there aren’t too many surprises. iTunes is the world’s most popular online storefront, and thus it is usually a pretty good gauge of what people were buying in music. The Apple-owned music seller recently unveiled its most popular items in 2015, and the rankings are chock full of the songs and albums that soundtracked last year.

Honor 5X to get Marshmallow, EM UI 4, and regular security patches

There are some things you simply can’t expect to get from a $200 smartphone, like the latest software updates or durable hardware. Here is where Honor is tipping the bucket even further.

We were told by Honor that it plans to update the Honor 5X’s UI all the way to Marshmallow and EM UI 4 (the same UI found on the new Mate 8 flagship), and also provide regular android security patches.

We weren’t told if this was going to be on a monthly basis, but even if not, the company still wants its customers to know that it won’t forget about the mid-rangers when it comes to updates.

Honor is a sub company of Huawei’s who announced its entry into the US at CES earlier this month. It plans to target the millennial market of young adults who like to individualize themselves while also making a statement. Honor believes this is the phone to do just that.

I am so far quite impressed with the Honor 5X. I’ve been using it for just a few days, and it is performing exceptionally well for the price. It has expandable memory, a generous 3000 mAh battery, and a fingerprint scanner for quick and secure access to the device.

It even has three card slots, one for a Micro SD card up to 128GB, and two SIM slots, one nano and the other micro.

Cómo proteger tu Android frente a apps maliciosas

Google, hace todo lo que puede para mantener su Play Store libre de aplicaciones maliciosas, y, en gran medida lo consigue, pero por mucho esfuerzo que ponga, es prácticamente imposible controlar todo lo que entra en la tienda digital. Por eso es importante, que sepamos detectar aplicaciones sospechosas, evitando así que se cuele software no deseado en nuestros dispositivos.

Es un tema muy serio, puesto que, si no somos cuidadosos, podemos acabar con el móvil lleno de molesta publicidad, pueden hacer llamadas sin permiso a nuestro coste, hacerse con nuestros datos bancarios, etc. Lo normal entre los malos de internet, robarte sin que te des cuenta si quiera hasta que es demasiado tarde.

Afortunadamente, no es muy difícil darnos cuenta de que apps son potencialmente peligrosas. Siguiendo los pasos que te dejamos a continuación, no debes preocuparte de nada d lo antes mencionado.

  • ¿Qué permisos pide?: Revisa que permisos necesita la aplicación, y comprueba que casen con su función, por ejemplo, si es una app de gestión de SMS, y pide permisos para leer tus mensajes, no hay problema, pero si ese mismo permiso te lo pide una app de linterna, algo no encaja.

  • Revisa las puntuaciones y comentarios de los usuarios: La puntuación de la aplicación te puede ser de ayuda, si es extremadamente baja, es que hay un problema seguro. Para asegurarte, lee los comentarios que han dejado los demás usuarios. Ten en cuenta que esto no siempre significa que sea una app maliciosa, puede ser que simplemente sea mala, en cuyo caso, tampoco pasa nada si no la descargas.

  • Comprueba el desarrollador: Si tras seguir los anteriores pasos, aún no estas convencido, comprueba que más aplicaciones tiene el desarrollador. Si las demás son del mismo estilo, y tienen las mismas características mejor busca otra app.

  • Busca en internet: Una búsqueda rápida en Google del nombre de la aplicación te ayudará a saber si alguien ha tenido algún problema. Simple pero eficaz.

  • Evita instalar apps que no estén en Play Store: Siempre que puedas, evita instalar aplicaciones de terceros que no se encuentren en la Play Store, puede que no sean dañinas, pero al no pasar por los filtros de Google, corres un riesgo.

Las aplicaciones con las que más cuidado debes tener, son las más simples como aplicaciones de linterna, de batería, bromas de rayos X y del estilo.

Siguiendo estos pasos, no deberías tener ningún problema. Recuerda mantener tu Android seguro.
