Apple is shutting down Beats Music service on November 30

Just over a year after acquiring it for $3 billion, Apple has announced that it’s pulling the plug on Beats Music – the subscription streaming music service will shut on November 30.

All Beats Music subscriptions will be cancelled on the aforementioned date. The Cupertino-based company, however, is encouraging users to make a switch to Apple Music, saying that they can move their picks and preferences over to the company’s new music streaming service “right now.”

“All the pros that curated music for you are still crafting more amazing experiences,” Apple said in a support document. “Plus, on Apple Music, you’ll get even better recommendations based on music you already listen to and love, 24/7 global radio with Beats 1, exciting material from your favorite artist, and more.”

This comes less than a month after Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that Apple Music – which was launched back in June this year – now has a total of 15 million subscribers, of which around 6.5 million are paying to use…

Ford Lays Claim To Being First To Use Michigan Autonomous Test Track

Even before one of the world’s first test tracks dedicated to autonomous and connected vehicle technology officially opened in July 2015, Ford already had a car cruising around the 32-acre facility collecting data. Now Ford is laying claim to being the first automaker to test a fully autonomous prototype on the track.

Quirky Werewolf, una versión de Puppy para ordenadores con pocos recursos

Quirky WerewolfHace unas horas hemos conocido la nueva versión de Puppy Linux, una versión llamada Quirky Werewolf ya que se basa en Wily Werewolf de Ubuntu. Puppy Linux está orientado a ordenadores con pocos recursos y en este caso no es una excepción, así no tendremos aplicaciones muy pesadas como Chromium pero si algo ligeras como Seamonkey.

Los repositorios oficiales de Quirky Werewolf se basan en Ubuntu 15.10 por lo que se hereda lo malo y lo bueno como el último kernel estable, el Kernel 4.2.

En el caso de la versión para Live-cd, una gran herramienta para equipos casi obsoletos, se cuenta con un inicio de sistema mejorado y acelerado así como la inclusión de zram para mejorar el uso y la gestión de la memoria ram en los equipos.

También se ha utilizado un sistema mejorado de archivos que permitirá no sólo utilizar persistencia sino que también nos reconocerá el espacio del disco de manera eficaz. La compatibilidad con UEFI también es mayor en esta versión aunque en versiones de la rama Puppy Linux 6.x ya tenían esta compatibilidad.

Como siempre, Quirky Werewolf se distribuye en una imagen de disco para instalar y usar en un cd-rom o en un usb, sin embargo ya existen métodos para instalar por completo el sistema en el disco duro del ordenador y poder disfrutar de Puppy Linux sin tener que utilizar la unidad de cd-rom de nuestro ordenador o el usb.

Personalmente me gusta Puppy Linux para equipos antiguos, pero en este caso he de decir que no me creo que Quirky Werewolf sea tan liviano como dicen. Seguramente será liviano, pero ya el propio sistema es algo pesado para algunos equipos con algunos años, por lo que Puppy Linux 7.3 no será una excepción o al menos eso creo.

Aún así si queréis probarlo, en este enlace podéis encontrar toda la información sobre Quirky Werewolf así como los enlaces de descarga. Recordad que no hace falta tenerla siempre en un usb.

Some BlackBerry Priv pre-order shipments are getting delayed

A couple of days ago, it was revealed that new BlackBerry Priv orders (placed through the company’s online store) won’t be delivered until November 23, and now, it is being reported that some pre-order shipments, too, are experiencing delays. The company is saying that the pre-orders in question will arrive no later than November 24.

“This is a follow-up to the email we sent you on Friday to keep you updated on ShopBlackBerry PRIV pre-order deliveries. Due to demand, there has been a delay in shipping PRIV smartphones to some customers who pre-ordered,” BlackBerry said in an email to customers.

“We continue to deliver PRIV devices and expect all remaining pre-orders to arrive no later than November 24th. Once your order has been shipped you will receive a confirmation by email so you can track your order.”
