Erle-Brain 2: el nuevo cerebro robótico de Erle Robotics

La compañía española líder en el campo de la robótica y sistemas LInux, Erle Robotics, acaba de anunciar el lanzamiento de Erle-Brain 2, la segunda versión de su cerebro robótico. Como bien anuncian desde la NdP de la startup, se trata del hermano mayor y más potente del Erle-Brain del que ya hablamos en este blog. Además, el incremento de prestaciones no se ha notado en su precio, todo lo contrario, el coste es aun más bajo.

Erle-Brain es un cerebro Linux para drones y robots, del que puedes conseguir más información en este enlace. Con esta nueva versión Erle-Robotics se podrá dar rienda suelta a la creatividad y realizar numerosos proyectos interesantes con él. La empresa alavesa está expectante como han confirmado: “Estamos expectantes de ver qué usos y aplicaciones dan los usuarios a Erle-Brain 2.”.

Entre los proyectos más destacados del Erle-Brain 1, destacan, por ejemplo, los desfibriladores para víctimas que sufran ataques al corazón. Otros interesantes proyectos son los de proporcionar redes WiFi en zonas inaccesibles o para la observación de volcanes. Ahora las posibilidades con las nuevas características técnicas del Erle-Brain 2 se aumentan y el límite es tu imaginación…

Erle-Bran 2 estará disponible por 199€ y una vez en tus manos podrás trabajar con él apoyándote en la genial tienda de aplicaciones para robots creada por Erle y Canonical, así como disponer de soporte APM y otras funcionalidades de Dronecode Foundation, USB, I2C, Ethernet, UART, HDMI, cámara, numerosos sensores (giroscopios, compass digital, gravedad, presión, temperatura,…), etc.

Nexus 6P teardown yields very low repairability score

There are many differences between the two Nexus smartphones Google announced this year, the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. One is cheaper, the other more premium, for example. But there’s a new big difference between the two – how easy each of them is to repair.

The Nexus 5X teardown which we told you about last week resulted in a 7 out of 10 repairability score, which isn’t perfect, but it’s not bad either.

Now though the Huawei-made Nexus 6P has been put through the same process by the teardown experts at iFixit. And it was found to be in the exact opposite situation compared to its smaller sibling. In fact, the Nexus 6P got only a 2 out of 10 repairability score.

The problems include the fact that the display assembly can’t be replaced without tearing the whole phone apart, which means that one of the most common repairs for a handset is very difficult to accomplish. Furthermore, tough adhesive is used to hold the rear cover panels and battery in place, and it’s very difficult to open the device without damaging the glass camera cover.

On the other hand, the phone’s solid construction is said to improve durability, and once the opening procedure is complete the battery is easily accessible.

As an oddity, the circular-looking fingerprint sensor on the back of the Nexus 6P is actually square – the circle shape is merely due to the round hole in the phone’s case. So it turns out that this isn’t the exact same sensor as on the Nexus…

Appcircus Madrid ha hecho su elección: estas son las 9 aplicaciones elegidas

Hace poco más de una semana os informábamos de Appcircus Madrid, el evento que una vez más cuenta con la colaboración de Andro4all como media partner tras la anterior participación en Barcelona para descubrir las aplicaciones más originales e innovadoras de la actualidad.

De nuevo en esta edición, han respondido hasta 60 aplicaciones móviles como participantes, las cuales han sido elegidas 9 de ellas divididas entre categorías como comercio y economía, deporte, turismo, ocio y hasta el sector educativo. Las seleccionadas competirán para destacar una por encima de la otra el próximo jueves 5 de diciembre para lograr una plaza en los Mobile Premier Awards, que se entregarán durante el siguiente Mobile World Congress.

Vamos a mencionar cuáles de entre las 60 aplicaciones participantes han resultado finalistas en Appcircus Madrid:

  • menta: app de centro comercial online de alimentación con el que comprar directamente a productores y tiendas

  • enterprising: app de ayuda a la pequeña empresa ofreciendo estadísticas, además de enfocar las ventas

  • kolobee: app para descubrir hechos históricos en nuestro alrededor mediante el envío de notificaciones al terminal

  • Schooltivity: app de ayuda en la gestión de centros educativos de forma sencilla

  • Runator – Running: app dedicada a runners para importar datos e historial de multitud de aplicaciones, crear un perfil de corredor y seguir a otros usuarios

  • Futbee: app para seguir la jornada de resultados, hacer quinielas y ver los acertantes del mundo del fútbol como una red social

  • Tinka: app para responder encuestas y ver anuncios a cambio de una recompensa

  • Ciruapp: app dirigida a la creación de aplicaciones para gestionar y personalizar planes personales, con amigos o en familia

  • Casinuevo – Segunda Mano: app de compra y venta directa de artículos de segunda mano cercanos al usuario

Appcircus Madrid

Appcircus Madrid, patrocinado por Intel, con la colaboración del Ayuntamiento de Madrid, junto a Difoosion y Andro4all como media partners, tiene cita para celebrar el próximo 5 de noviembre en el Madrid International Lab ubicado en la calle Bailen número 41 el evento de presentación, en la que los participantes darán a conocer sus aplicaciones.

Recuerda que tú también puedes asistir y ver con tus propios ojos el despliegue de medios, en la que hará acto de presencia el jurado formado por Carlos Rodríguez de Wazypark, Óscar Fernández de MuchoMove, Juan Antonio Corrales de Shoppydoo Network y Elia Méndez, de Mobile Marketing Association.
