Apple TV Wants To Succeed Where Xbox One And Playstation Already Failed

After the usual round of rumors, Apple announced its new Apple TV today. It’s a bit difficult to say exactly what the device is, because keeping with a long tradition of Apple devices, it wants to do everything. Apple is pushing an App-centric approach to living room computing, and that means fashion, sports, voice search, sports apps phone games on the TV, and more. It’s the magic all-in-one set top box that finally makes using the TV fun again (because people are always complaining about that, I guess?). With this, Apple enters a scrappy arena, with no clear winner after several years of fighting. There’s a reason for that. I’d urge Apple to take a look at Microsoft’s Xbox One, which took a crack at the concept two years ago. It didn’t work very well.

As expected, Apple released a duo of promo videos alongside the freshly unveiled iPad Pro. With a 12.9″ Retina display and A9X processor, the newcomer is the most capable tablet launched by Apple to date.

The first promo clip is focused on the creative possibilities that the massive screen can offer. The second video is all about the Apple Pencil – an $99 optional stylus that Apple released for the iPad Pro.

Apple iPad Pro will hit the shelves in November. Pricing of the tablet will kick off at $799….
