Most of the conversations and the discussions around the future of work today seem to be quite centered on technology. How do we make sense of big data? What should we do about wearable devices? Will the internet of things improve productivity? How do we shift to the cloud? All of these things are focusing on ways to improve efficiency, make sense of information, and technologically upgrade our organizations. However, technology isn’t the only thing that needs upgrading. We also need to upgrade the way we think about people. Technology is great but people are better. We have to remember to focus on the very real and human interactions that happen inside of our organizations. Technology is and always will be an enabler. However, if you have a Ferrari in the garage and never drive it, then how useful is it? The same is true with technology. If you have all the best tools in the world but nobody uses them and your workplace relationships are a mess, then who cares about the latest and greatest platforms you’re deploying?

De Periscope ya hablé hace bien poco para conocerlo un poco de cerca y como estamos ante una de esas apps que cada vez va teniendo más usuarios y se está convirtiendo en una de las tendencias del momento. Un servicio que aboga por compartir momentos especiales a través de la cámara de tu smartphone para así poder pasarlo a tus seguidores de Twitter y estos accedan a un streaming en tiempo real que se mantendrá durante un día almacenado en los servidores de esta compañía.
El formato con el que ha estado jugando hasta el momento Periscope es en el vertical, el que justamente ha sido el único que podíamos usar para trasladar esos vídeos en tiempo real a cualquier usuario de esta red social o Twitter. Hasta el día de hoy donde se ha actualizado la app para finalmente permitir a sus usuarios utilizar el vídeo en formato horizontal para retransmitir y ver aquello que hayan decidido que es del interés de muchos, y que puede pasar desde estar entrando al Santiago Bernabéu en la final de la Copa o un momento mágico en la terraza de un bar donde un saxofonista está tocando una bella melodía.
La magia de Periscope se encuentra en esto mismo y que sigue un poco el camino de Snapchat en compartir imágenes que desaparezcan a los segundos o minutos según hubiera determinado el propio usuario. Esa forma de captar momentos y salvaguardarlos durante un día para que cualquier pueda visionarlo es donde se encuentra su grandeza y lo que le ha permitido que vaya adquiriendo usuarios exponencialmente según van pasando los días y las semanas.
Lo único que se le podía echar en falta ese modo apaisado u horizontal de los vídeos que permiten transmitir otro tipo de vídeos o al menos tomar una mejor visión de los mismos. Ese formato ya es compatible con la aplicación y podéis utilizarlo desde la nueva actualización. Tampoco se ha quedado aquí las mejoras en torno a este servicio, sino que se incluye algunas otras como la capacidad de mostrar la lista de seguidores mutuos para tomarlos cuando se empiece una transmisión en vídeo privado.
Justamente esta capacidad viene muy bien para compartir momentos privados con familiares como pudiera ser la celebración de un cumpleaños o los días de vacaciones con los niños en la playa.
Con esta pequeña pero importante novedad Periscope se suma un buen tanto, que por cierto, una característica que debiera de haber estado desde los principios en la aplicación, aunque también nos encontramos ante sus primeros pasos. Unos primeros pasos en los que se ha valido de la popularidad de Meerkat para competir contra esta misma y finalmente distanciarse, aunque seguramente que veamos a las dos pegarse unos cuantos golpes para seguir sumando usuarios y calidad.
Si queréis conocer a Meerkat podéis pasaros por aquí, es justamente la digna competidora que intenta rivalizar con esta aplicación cuando le quitó el primer puesto en cuanto a usuarios. Que Twitter se fijara en Periscope y la adquiriera le ha permitido evolucionar y conseguir seguidores de una forma más rápida. Volveremos a encontrarnos con ella muy pronto.

Gionee has announced that it will be partnering with Foxconn and Dixon to start manufacturing devices in India. The company will be investing $50 million in the next three years for this venture.
The Foxconn facility in Andhra Pradesh will be handling the manufacturing of the F and P series smartphones initially while the Dixon facility in Delhi-NCR will take care of the feature phones and other smartphones. Both have the capacity of producing 1.2 million handsets per month and will begin production in October.
Gionee has also stated that it will be increasing investment in the R&D team in India, which handles the software division, to make it more more suitable for Indian customers.
Speaking on the matter, Gionee India Country CEO & MD, Arvind Vohra said, “Make in India as an initiative gives an opportunity to not only take Gionee as brand ahead but also to be actively able to participate in the growth of our economy through various touch points. We are happy to have partnered with the best in business including Foxconn and Dixon and sure that this step will prove to be instrumental in the brands future.”

When T-Mobile launched its native video calling feature last week, it was only available on the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5 smartphones, although the carrier said that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will get it the following week.
As promised, the feature has started rolling out to the latter two through a software update.
Sized at around 413 MB, the update also brings along the carrier’s Advanced Messaging feature that allows users to easily share high-res photos and videos up to 10 MB, have near real-time chat, and more.

After revealing that the Moto X Force will be launched in the US (exclusively by Verizon) as the Droid Turbo 2, the usually reliable leaker @upleaks has also shared some information on their launch date.
